This only happens for two customers. The install works OK for thousands of others. I have found numerous posts via google with no answer or generic "firewall is the issue" or "customer was using dialup".
Has anyone solved this? Is this a ClickOnce bug?

Disabling firewall software on the machine did not help because a hardware firewall installed on the network was the cause (FortiGate 30B).

I doubt that it's a bug. However, it seems like it gets stuck at one file in the deployment path. Maybe it is a type of file that is blocked by a firewall.
I would just remove all files but one from the build and see if that gets downloaded ok, and then add the rest of the files one by one (or maybe type by type) and see at what file ClickOnce gets stuck downloading.
If that doesn't seem to do anything, I'd build a dummy app and deploy it with ClickOnce and see if it installs at all on the customer's box.

Unable to connect to the NetBeans Distribution because of Zero sized file

I recently reinstalled Netbeans IDE on my Windows 10 PC in order to restore some unrelated configurations. When I tried checking for new plugins in order to be able to download the Sakila sample database,
I get this error.
I've tested the connection on both No Proxy and Use Proxy Settings, and both connection tests seem to end succesfully.
I have allowed Netbeans through my firewall, but this has changed nothing either.
I haven't touched my proxy configuration, so it's on default (autodetect). Switching the autodetect off doesn't change anything, either, no matter what proxy config i have on Netbeans.
Here's part of my log file that might be helpful:

It might be that the update server is down just right now; i haven't been able to test this either. But it also might be something wrong with my configurations. I'm going crazy!!1!
Something that worked for me was changing the "http:" to "https:" in the update urls.
I.E. Change "http://updates.netbeans.org/netbeans/updates/8.0.2/uc/final/distribution/catalog.xml.gz"
to "https://updates.netbeans.org/netbeans/updates/8.0.2/uc/final/distribution/catalog.xml.gz"
No idea why that makes it work on my end. I'm running Linux Mint 19.1.

IBM BLUEMIX BLOCKCHAIN SDK-DEMO failing

I have been working with HFC SDK for Node.js and it used to work, but since last night I am having some problems.
When running helloblockchain.js only few times works, most time I get this error when it tries to enroll a new user:

This code worked yesterday, so I don't know what could be happening.
Does anybody know how can I fix it?
Thanks,

These types of intermittent issues are usually related to GRPC. An initial suggestion is to ensure that you are using at least GRPC version 1.0.0.
If you are using a Mac, then the maximum number of open file descriptors should be checked (using ulimit -n). Sometimes this is initially set to a low value such as 256, so increasing the value could help.
There are a couple of GRPC issues with similar symptoms.
https://github.com/grpc/grpc/issues/8732
https://github.com/grpc/grpc/issues/8839
https://github.com/grpc/grpc/issues/8382
There is a grpc.initial_reconnect_backoff_ms property that is mentioned in some of these issues. Increasing the value past the 1000 ms level might help reduce the frequency of issues. Below are instructions for how the helloblockchain.js file can be modified to set this property to a higher value.
Open the helloblockchain.js file in the Hyperledger Fabric Client example and find the enrollAndRegisterUsers function.
Add “grpc.initial_reconnect_backoff_ms": 5000 to the setMemberServicesUrl call.
chain.setMemberServicesUrl(ca_url, {
pem: cert, "grpc.initial_reconnect_backoff_ms": 5000
});
Add “grpc.initial_reconnect_backoff_ms": 5000 to the addPeer call.
chain.addPeer("grpcs://" + peers[i].discovery_host + ":" + peers[i].discovery_port,
{pem: cert, "grpc.initial_reconnect_backoff_ms": 5000
});
Note that setting the grpc.initial_reconnect_backoff_ms property may reduce the frequency of issues, but it will not necessarily eliminate all issues.
The connection to the eventhub that is made in the helloblockchain.js file can also be a factor. There is an earlier version of the Hyperledger Fabric Client that does not utilize the eventhub. This earlier version could be tried to determine if this makes a difference. After running git clone https://github.com/IBM-Blockchain/SDK-Demo.git, run git checkout b7d5195 to use this prior level. Before running node helloblockchain.js from a Node.js command window, the git status command can be used to check the code level that is being used.

Moqui - Connecting to an IMAP server over an SSL connection?

I am trying to poll an email server in Moqui 1.5.4. I am using org.moqui.impl.EmailServices.poll#EmailServer from the 'tools' application.
The email server is set up as follows:
<moqui.basic.email.EmailServer emailServerId="testEmail" mailUsername="test.account#xxxxxxx.ie" mailPassword="xxxxxxxx" smtpHost="" smtpPort="" smtpSsl="" storeHost="Webmail8.xxxxxxxxxxx.ie" storePort="993" storeProtocol="imap" storeDelete="N" />
All entries, passwords have been tested on Outlook and connect no problem to the server.
I get a javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException.
Additional Information:
In initial tests I received the following error message, so I removed the 'static' modifier from the indicated line in the code. (I was not sure yet if it was an issue or if I may be doing something wrong.)
--- 98330 [ndlerThread[15]] WARN moqui.impl.context.TransactionFacadeImpl
Transaction rollback. The rollback was originally caused by: startup failed:
classpath_//org/moqui/impl/pollEmailServer_groovy: 28: Modifier 'static' not allowed here.
# line 28, column 1.
final static Logger logger = LoggerFactory.getLogger("org.moqui.impl.pollEmailServer")
Some things I tried to see if I could resolve the problem include:
setting storeProtocol="imaps"
including the smtp details in the EmailServer entry (note I only need to poll, not send mail).
adding the following line to pollEmailServer.groovy (having looked at the com.sun.mail.imap package).
sessionProperties.put("mail.imap.ssl.enable", true)

Addendum: Processing the messages once polled with Email ECA Rules.
I can see when I turn on logger info in EmailEcaRule.groovy that the condition in my Email ECA keeps evaluating to 'false'. But it shouldn't be?
======== EMECA Process Received Email conditionPassed? false My condition: TestEmail fields:
(Note that I inserted "My condition: ${fields.subject}" into the logger info to double check my condition expression was as it should be.)
My emeca is:
<emecas xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="http://moqui.org/xsd/email-eca-1.5.xsd">
<emeca rule-name="Process Received Email">
<condition><expression>fields.subject == 'TestEmail'</expression></condition>
<actions>
<service-call name="org.moqui.impl.EmailServices.save#EcaEmailMessage" />
</actions>
</emeca>
</emecas>
I have tested and re-tested this. I don't know why it is evaluating to false. Please let me know if any additional information is required.
Still no luck in solving this. I must be doing something stupid. I commented out if (conditionPassed) {} in the EmailEcaRule.groovy to bypass my condition in the Email ECA rule and just run the action, but now it gets hung up with a "Cannot invoke method get() on null object" error in org.moqui.impl.EmailServices.save#EcaEmailMessage, presumably on headers.get('message-id'). But I can see in the log information that the message Id is in the headers information, and successfully converted to lower case.
There were a few issues with this. First is that Moqui was using an old version of JavaMail (now updated to 1.5.4). Another was how the password was passed through, and more generally there was lots of room for improvement in how the script for poll#EmailServer service was using the JavaMail API.
There are various changes in place as of commit #bf0f872. I was able to connect successfully using storeProtocol=imaps, storePort=993, etc.
To answer your question: without these code changes I don't think connection via SSL would be possible. In other words, this ended up being more of a bug report than a question.

From here I'm stuck. Any advice would be much appreciated.
I'm on a work computer, so there may be some security settings blocking something, but I don't know about all that.
Thanks,
Chris
Setup was stalling at around 85MB for me, after repeated attempts. After trying all these answers with no success, the one found here is the one that finally worked for me. I canceled, killed dfsvc.exe from Task Manager (I'm using Windows 10), deleted C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0, opened up Internet Explorer (not Chrome or Firefox) and navigated to this exact URL:
https://github-windows.s3.amazonaws.com/GitHub.application
I had the exact same problem and it turned out that a Web Content Filtering system was getting errors for many of the git client files, some of them are included below.

I suppose you should contact your network admin and get him to set up exceptions for these files, or even better for the whole http://github-windows.s3.amazonaws.com. Still, IMHO, this shouldn't be happening. I'll try to get in touch with Github support.
I was just having this same problem, I was able to download the installer but after the installer (GitHubSetup.exe) finished doing it's downloading, the program wouldn't launch, it crashed with an error log.
I'm using Windows 8.1; I have never had any trouble in Windows 7.
So I tried right-clicking and "Run as Administrator", it again did it's downloading thing and then launched just fine.
Introduction
I have had a similar problem: after 75% of the file was downloaded, it just got stuck.
Then 5 minutes later or so, I've received the exact same error message you did.
How I've fixed it
As Geogrgios mentioned above, you need to add an exception to the firewall.
Go to "Control Panel" and click on "System and Security" (make sure that "View by:" is set to "Category" and not to "Large icons" or "Small icons").
Choose Windows Firewall (the second option in the right menu). Then, "Allow a program or a feature through Windows Firewall" in the left menu will be displayed, please click on it.
Click on "Change settings" to add exceptions.
Click on "Allow another program ..", which has gotten enabled, and in the new window click on "Browse..".
Choose the "GithubSetup.exe" file, press "Open" and then "Add" and "OK".
Run "GithubSetup.exe" and hope for the best.
Better instructions (with screenshots) can be found here
I opened Microsoft edge and navigated to:
https://github-windows.s3.amazonaws.com/GitHub.application
worked first time !
might also work in internet explorer
got the idea from:

https://stackoverflow.com/a/33021657/606724
I too faced a similar issue. The root cause was two fold.
1. Proxy: I was behind a corporate proxy, which prevented me from connecting to the download center.
2. Firewall: I was using a corporate laptop in which Symantec network access control was enabled (Firewall related settings are present here)
I disabled the Symantec network access control and used my personal internt connection to download and install. Did not face any issues after that.
Just switching to Internet Explorer from Chrome did the trick for me =) I don't know why, but it really helped. After 95%(!!) of the file was downloaded, it just got stuck.
If you're using Kaspersky, disable Protection and Control first. Kaspersky Antivirus deletes all deploy files silently, giving erros like this (from install.log):
Launching Application.
URLDownloadToCacheFile failed with HRESULT '-2146697211'
Error: An error occurred trying to download 'http://github-windows.s3.amazonaws.com/GitHub.application'.
Or like this (downloading http://github-windows.s3.amazonaws.com/GitHub.application and launching manually):
* [15/09/2015 11:58:50] System.Deployment.Application.DeploymentDownloadException (Unknown subtype)

If you use Windows 10:
Kill dfsvc.exe
Delete this folder: %LocalAppData%\Apps\2.0
Type in Internet Explorer: https://github-windows.s3.amazonaws.com/GitHub.application
I had a same problem, and got the isse like 20+ times while I was trying to intsall the github on my Windows 8 Pro.
Solutions found unknowingly is - Login into the Github account, then download the package, and try to install without logout till the installation complition.
It work for me.. Please try and provide if you have any more better way to handle this.
thanks.
Turns out the problem for me was that my corporate network was blocking the download on the network level. This problem was solved for me by going outside of my corporation's network policies via a personal VPN.
When I tried to download GitHub, the ClickOnce app would install with the following error:
ERROR SUMMARY
Below is a summary of the errors, details of these errors are listed later in the log.
* Activation of C:\Users\Judah\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\GitHub, Inc\GitHub.appref-ms| resulted in exception. Following failure messages were detected:
+ Downloading http://github-windows.s3.amazonaws.com/Application Files/GitHub_3_1_1_4/libGLESv2.dll.deploy did not succeed.
+ Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.
+ An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host
The error message says it was unable to download http://github-windows.s3.amazonaws.com/Application Files/GitHub_3_1_1_4/libGLESv2.dll.deploy. Trying to directly download that file with Chrome, IE, and Edge all failed.
I began to suspect it was a corporate network policy that was blocking the download.
So, I connected to a personal VPN, downloaded again, and it worked. You could use a VPN, or tethering on your phone, or some other network outside of your corporate network to download as well.
I too faced the same issue when I tried to install it. Even though I'm using VPN I couldn't install it because of network configuration matters. So I turned off the firewall and tried installing it. It didn't work for me in one go coz of some vendor issues and I tried reinstalling it. Finally, it worked for me.
Thanks to this post, I just used Internet Explorer and navigated to:
https://github-windows.s3.amazonaws.com/GitHub.application
And it completely installed Github for Windows (I have Windows 8.1).
Prior to this, with the installer I downloaded using Chrome I couldn't install Github for Windows (I used to get the above "did not succeed" error).
A little more elaboration on the previous answers:
1- Open Windows Explorer (press "Windows+E")
2- Type %LocalAppData%\Apps in its address bar and press Enter.
3- It should find a folder "2". Delete the Folder "2".
4- Open Task Manager (Start menu, then type Task manager and select it.
Alternatively press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and select Task Manager).
5- Click on "Details" tab.
6- Kill all the files named dfsvc.exe (for me there were two).
7- Open Internet Explorer (IE)
8- Paste this address in the address bar and press Enter:
https://github-windows.s3.amazonaws.com/GitHub.application
9- It will start installing Github for Wiindows.
To resolve this issue :
Goto Windows Firewall => Advanced section
Goto Action > Properties
set firwall state to off in domain, private and public.
Disable windows defender or any other antivirus.
Open run window by clicking Windows + R button
Paste "%LocalAppData%\Apps"
Delete the folder named "2.0".
Open Microsoft edge or Internet Explorer
Open "https://github-windows.s3.amazonaws.com/GitHub.application"
Click on Install.
This process will be slower than usual but let it run for as long as it takes. And then you should have an Github icon and Shell window icon in your desktop when it ends.

V8 version in node and ChromeDevTools?

My main questions are:
What version of V8 am I running from node 0.4.10?
How can I tell if this version is compatible with ChromeDevTools 0.2.2 in Eclipse?
Background: I've almost got Eclipse working for debugging node.js remotely. In fact it works perfectly (after adding a server proxy) for a simple "Hello World" app, but it won't hook up properly when I add "express" to the mix. The Eclipse error is:
An internal error occurred during: "Debug session initialization:
Remote NodeJS". Exception occured in callback
...which I tracked down to line 61 of the this source code (Thanks to the misspelling of "occured".)
I'd like to eliminate version skew possibilities before going further.
EDIT: Dug the stack trace out of the error log. Hmmm, maybe I have an encoding problem in my server proxy?

process.versions in the repl reveals this information:
> process.versions
{ node: '0.4.10', v8: '3.1.8.26', ares: '1.7.4', ev: '4.4', openssl: '1.0.0d' }
There shouldn't be any version-related problem here, at least at initialization stage.
V8 debug protocol is evolving quite slowly.
Unfortunately the message you cite is too general. Do you think you can find a stacktrace somewhere? The message may have 'details' button (but you would probably spot it), also the exception is usually logged. You can try to open a view "General->Error Log" (available in most Eclipse configurations), or you can take a look inside a file in your Eclipse workspace: /.metadata/.log.
The code indicates that there is a cause exception, which is missing from the error message.
Thank you for the spelling error report. :)
