iPhone + gridview - iphone

Is it possible to have something like Data Grid or Grid View control in iPhone?

I've had to roll my own implementation, using a custom UITableViewCell with a configurable number of columns. I would just dequeue this for each row, and set the data appropriately, according to the column I'm showing. I even put this UITableView inside a UIScrollView, with vertical scroll disabled, in order to have the table stretch more than the visible screen, and be able to scroll horizontally to reveal the columns.

how to create a sectioned TableView for profile in iPhone

I saw this picture on Internet:
the section with the add Photo Frame and two rows (First, Last)...
How do you achieve a design like that!!!
I only know how to make rows (static and dynamic) in xCode using the full width of the screen but not in a single section but not making such a división and adding a frame out of the other two rows
my designs are like this
Any help I'll appreciate
thanks in advance
It's not really clear that the example you've given is actually embedding the first, last part into a table view. It could just as easily be a single cell that has embedded views with borders to look like rows. Here are a few ways I see to accomplish the view you've given.
Have them be actual rows - but use a custom cell layout that offsets the 'First' and 'Last' labels to be further to the right. Then create a UIImageView for the profile that sits on top of the UITableView cells, but inside of it. Basically insert it as the first subview of the UITableView. It should cover the top left of those top two cells. You can do this since those cells have a static known hight and you've set the left offset. Another option would be just inserting it into your top cell, but having it overflow the bounds and setting clipsToBounds = NO.
Make the entire top view a custom UIView that uses CALayers or CoreGraphics to manually draw the lines and layout such that it looks like part of the table view. Set that as the TableView header, or the first section Header.
There are a lot more things you can do like changing frame layout as well.
you can achieve this with the use of xib read carefully and if you don't understand anything you can ask me again it's bit tricky
in you xib create a UIView and design for your photo and firstname, lastname cells with the use of textfields image views and all and then take a UITableView.
now drag your UIView and drop it on your UITableView so that it will be considered as your table header and your first section now will be as you designed like photo with firstname and lastname fields.
i've done this in manier projects of mine so hope this way you can also do this thing and ask me if you need any help.

How to lay out scrollable iPhone view

I need advice on the most pragmatic way to layout the following view. As you can see from the image attached, I have a static logo and text that appears at the top of the view, followed by a variable number of items.
Initially, I was going to use a TableView for the variable number of items, that way I would be able to load any given number of cells at runtime.
My problem is that if I drop a tableView onto this view below my static logo and text, when the user scrolls, the static logo and text will remain fixed. I need both the static logo/text AND the tableView to scroll up.
My next inclination is to use a scrollView, inside which I would place my tableView and static logo.
Is this the most pragmatic way to approach the problem? If so, will there be usability issues when scrolling the scrollView vs scrolling the tableView? In my mind this could get messy.
Any advice on the best way to approach this is greatly appreciated.
Using a table view inside of a scroll view is a bad idea and warned against by Apple in their docs. Basically the internal gesture recognizers can conflict and create a clunky user experience. The best path forward would be to go with the tableview (which is a subclass of scroll view) and have two different kinds of cells– one for the logo and one for the repeating contents at the bottom. Make the first cell the logo and adjust the table view's settings to format it to your heart's content.

How to implement smooth scrolling using both a UIScrollView and an UITableView?

Is is possible to implement smooth scrolling using both a UIScrollView and placing a UITableView at somewhere starting in the middle of the screen? The UIScrollView contentSize is elongated to accomodate the additional height of the UITableView. The UITableView should be able to contain unlimited and unknown number of rows. Scrolling the entire view downwards will cause the upper non-tableview portion to first disappear and then it scrolls down just like a regular table view.
Put it in another way, I'd like to implement a table with some fixed content before the top row. Think of it like a "header area" for the tables, scrolls up and giving way to the entire table rows.
I probably know that I can implement a TableView and programatically make the first row to contain some fixed images. In this way, it will work as expected. But which is easier to implement?
You really don't want to put the table in a scroll view. When the user scrolls on the table it will not move the underlying scrollview so you won't get the effect you are looking for.
Implement viewForHeaderInSection instead and pass in the view you want to display above the first row, or set tableViewHeader.

Custom cell in UITableView

I am making a custom cell which has text fields and as a result the custom cell is greater than the size of the iphone screen. But i am not being able to do horizontal scroll to reach the end of the cell.
I have tried using viewController and adding table view to it as well as creating table view controller and adding custom cell to it.
when doing it through TableViewController,I am not able to horizontally scroll it,whereas i am not getting how to add Custom cell class to the tableView object placed in viewController.I know that UITableView is a subclass of UIScrollView but not able to implement it.Please help.
Thanks
as per the documentation at
A table view in the UIKit framework is limited to a single column
because it is designed for a device with a small screen. UITableView
is a subclass of UIScrollView, which allows users to scroll through
the table, although UITableView allows vertical scrolling only.
so as desired in your case you will have to take some other approach. Now using Custom cell with TextFields should not actually need you to require Horizonatl scrolling. If the text is really large you would like to consider using TextView instead of TextFields.
Hope it helps
Ideally, you should be truncating your text. But if it is important for you to display the entire text, add a scroll view as a subview (or set it as the content view) and add your labels to the subview. Each cell will then be individually horizontally scrollable.

adding multiple column in UITableView

I have multiple column and row data , i want to place it in table view also i want make it scrollable vertically as well as horizontally . how to do this ? please help...
The UITableView is not meant to be used in a multi column way.
What you can do is to create custom UITableViewCells that look like two or more columns. But that will be just a workaround without the possibility to scroll horizontally.
The other possibility is to implement a UIScrollView. Add a View to the UIScrollView that is wider than the actuall iPhone screen. In this case the user will be able to scroll horizontally. In this case you will in deed not be able to use the predefined API-functionality of the UITableView and you have to render your table on your own.
My library, UIGridView, does what you want.
But it only supports vertical scrolling.
It is built with UITableView, in which UITableViewCell contains many cells inside.
You can try implement your own library, learn UIGridView's code, or use UIGridView.
