iPhone Slide Tap Delete - iphone

Does the slide tap delete (i.e., deleting a video in Videos app) come default when you make an iPhone vertical table? If not, how would I do that?

That comes as default when you make that table editable. All you have to do is implement the delegate functions to allow editing mode on the table, and of course place the editing button somewhere.

how to detect a password text field when running in the background?

I am developing a screen recorder and facing a crazy requirement. My boss would like to have an option for a user to automatically pause recording when the current view has a password field. (That view might belong to a third-party app.)
So, is it possible to check if the topmost view has any password text field?
This is an enterprise app so private api is allowed.
Any pointer from jailbreak community is also welcome.
It would be much easier if you could just use your own views but this should work for either your own views or a third party view. BUt anyway, every time you would load up a UIView check all of its subviews, in the ViewDidLoad Method i would think and for each subview check for its class type in your case it would be UITextField. Since these are the only textfields where you can set secure text entry as its text type. Every time you find a UITExtView check if its secureTextEntry is equal to TRUE. If it is true disable the recording until that view is removed from the screen. That should be what you need.

iPhone Dev - Implementing checkmarks in a tableview that is in edit mode

I know how to use checkmarks in a tableview when it is not in edit mode. But once in edit mode, it seems that it won't allow me to add checkmarks. Any ideas how to get around this?
Detail accessories are pushed offscreen during editing. This is native behavior and unless you have a peculiar use case it's perfectly fine. If you are editing to sort by checked vs. unchecked, do that automatically. If you really need to, poke around in the methods of your table's delegate. Protocol reference.
Perhaps you can use the built in UIImageView that is on the cell so that when you are editing, if your table allows the editing of multiple rows, when the user taps the cell, the UIImageView is filled with the image of a check mark, but when the table is not in edit mode then the UIImageView is empty.
You can use the allowsMultipleSelectionDuringEditing property of UITableView to decide whether cells are selectable in editing mode.
Then calling indexPathsForSelectedRows will give you the indexPath of the rows the user has selected, and then perhaps you can have some logic to edit the cell's UIImageView property.
A bit hackey, but I hope this helps!

create custom delete button for uitableview

Im working on an ios app and my question is how to change the default button on swipe to delete on a uitableview. i see i can change the text with titleForDeleteConfirmationButtonForRowAtIndexPath but i want to change the image completely. ive been looking around for a way and all the posts about it may be out of date so just want to confirm with people before i go ahead with this. What im going to do is add a gesture recogniser to the cells themselves to catch the users swipe on individual cells and then add in my custom button and re arrange the cell frame from there and just forget about apples default swipe to delete completely. how that sound?
Here is a great open-source class for doing exactly this, based on the behavior of the Twitter app:

How to make keyboard with textfield on the top of it?

I need to have textfield (maybe with button) fixed at the bottom of screen, and when start editing, I want it (and probably the whole view) to move with keyboard up - just like in the native Messages application (or Whatsapp, etc...). Any suggestions ?
The easiest way is to put everything in a UIScrollView, which you resize when the keyboard is shown using the UIKeyboardDidShowNotification. Then you scroll to ensure that your views are visible.
Check out the Apple documentation under "Moving Content That Is Located Under the Keyboard"

UIPickerView - Selects row too fast

I am currently using a UIPIckerView in my app to allow a user to select from a list of options. The problem is that there isn't enough of a delay when the user stops spinning the wheel and it is selecting a value before the user has a chance to scroll further down the list.
Is there a way to override the default behavior that selects the row as soon as the wheel stops spinning and the user removes their finger? I see Mobile Safari includes a "Done" button which would be great.
I can provide code if necessary (not sure how it would help).
Thanks!
You can add this manually; just add a done button to the view that holds the UIPicker, and have IT do whatever action you're currently performing in – pickerView:didSelectRow:inComponent:.
The UIPickerView automatically selects which ever row stops in the center. It does not work like a table but more like a popup menu. As such, you can't use a picker view like a button to call an action because it will trigger the moment the user stops moving it whether that represents their final choice or not.
Instead, as noted previously, you need a second control element (usually a button) to call the action that makes use of the pickerview's selection.
