compressed file format for Iphone - iphone

i am new to iPhone
i want to ask that what is the compressed file format which is supported on iPhone. Also how can extract this file programmatically.

The following open source project at Google Code definitely works. I've used it in 2 apps myself:

and the following discussion shows some example usage:

iPhone .ipa and file extraction

I am writing an app for the iphone platform. My code is mostly C++ with some Objective-C code to interface with ios sdk apis. I am not very versed on iphone programming and this is my first app, so problem is that i need to read a binary file, using C++ code, containing some data but i don't kown how to do it. My concern is: can i use directly fopen/fread? Which path should i use? I come from Android development. The .apk is a simple .zip archive, so one just need to extract in memory the needed file and process it, or extract the file in a temporary directory and read it in the usual way, but i do not know how to to the same in the case of an iPhone application. Thanks.
I believe the core question you're asking has already been asked and answered. You want to read and write files, but aren't confident about how/where to do so: Write a file on iOS

SDK to Read PPT , xls and .doc file in iOS

In my application i need to launch ppt , xls, pdf files. i am sure, iOS Framework support to view PDF files without launching any other application, but is there any way to open ppt , xls doc , if yes please give me any pointer,
I believe, there should be some SDKs available , which can be integrated through an application and can make use of it.
If you just want to view the Office files, have a look at:
Document Interaction Programming Topics for iOS: Quick Look Framework.
Quick Look Framework Reference
Quick Look Framework supports a lot of file formats as you can see in the links above. It is available in iOS 4.0 and later.
You can also use UIWebView to display them. See Using UIWebView to display select document types.

create epub file in objective c

i am new to iPad development. I am making iPad applications. In my application i want to create an epub file using Xcode 4.2, is there any demo tutorial available for making ePub file using Xcode. I have searched in google but i havn't found any thing which starts from basic..
can any one give me basic ideas, how to start ??
I don't know any code examples which shows how to generate ePub in objective c, but ePub is pretty easy format. It's zip file with structurized content based on xml files http://www.jedisaber.com/eBooks/Tutorial.shtml
You can build your solution based on projects in other languages, like, in ex. Ruby ePub generator https://github.com/jugyo/eeepub or C# http://sourceforge.net/projects/epubhub/

Iphone - How to Read book file from device

I imported pdf file to iphone device using iTunes. I verified that the pdf file stored in 'root/user/media/books' path. Can i read this file in my program?
Is there any way to read the file? Please Help me.
Thanks in advance.
The SDK doesn’t provide any access to the books (including PDFs) in the user’s media library. For your app to read a PDF that was added via iTunes, it needs to be added to your app specifically, using the iTunes file sharing malarkey (look up “UIFileSharingEnabled” for more information on that). You can file an enhancement request with Apple to try to get them to add support for accessing the user’s book library, but don’t count on it.
Here is a guide on how to view a pdf on the screen. Here is a previous post about how to parse a pdf using CGPDFScanner. Hope that helps!
