How can I draw a text in my view? - iphone

How can I draw a text in drawRect?

The NSString class has several methods for drawing itself.
Look in the docs for NSString(UIStringDrawing).

Example:
NSString *test = [[NSString alloc] initWithString:#"test"];
[test drawAtPoint:CGPointMake(200,200) withFont:[UIFont fontWithName:#"Helvetica" size:23 ]];

You can also look at the CoreGraphics functions for doing this, though, Jongsma's method tends to be a little easier to use. Look at the apple docs for the NSString UIKit additions.

how to use gif images in UIImageView iOS

i have one gif image file having 4 images , i like to display these images in UIImage view one by one line image.animation . please guide is it possible to display or shoul i use alternat tell me .
thank you .
FLAnimatedImage is a performant open source animated GIF engine for iOS:
Plays multiple GIFs simultaneously with a playback speed comparable
to desktop browsers
Honors variable frame delays
Behaves gracefully under memory pressure
Eliminates delays or blocking during the first playback loop
Interprets the frame delays of fast GIFs the same way modern browsers do
It's a well-tested component that I wrote to power all GIFs in Flipboard.
it will help you , for gif link..https://github.com/mayoff/uiimage-from-animated-gif more help please feel free to ask
yes it possible in iOS,here i enclosed one URL below.please refer this for your concept,even i did it with help of this link.
https://github.com/mayoff/uiimage-from-animated-gif
hope i held you.
Try like this...
- (void)viewDidLoad {
[super viewDidLoad];
NSURL *url = [[NSBundle mainBundle] URLForResource:#"loading" withExtension:#"gif"];
UIImage *loadingImage = [UIImage animatedImageWithAnimatedGIFData:[NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:url]];
self.dataImageView.animationImages = loadingImage.images;
self.dataImageView.animationDuration = loadingImage.duration;
self.dataImageView.animationRepeatCount = 1;
self.dataImageView.image = loadingImage.images.lastObject;
[self.dataImageView startAnimating];
}
First of all you can add those 4 images in one Plist and do the following code. I hope it will work
NSDictionary *picturesDictionary = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithContentsOfFile:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:#"PhotesArray" ofType:#"plist"]];
NSArray *imageNames = [picturesDictionary objectForKey:#"Photos"];
NSMutableArray *images = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init];
for (int i=0; i<[imageNames count]; i++) {
[images addObject:[UIImage imageNamed:[imageNames objectAtIndex:i]]];
}
//Normal animation
self.dataImageView.animationImages = images;
self.dataImageView.animationDuration = 3.0;
[self.dataImageView startAnimating];

NSString value Crossout iphone

How to cross out a string $127.95 in middle. Is there any simple method used to Strike ?
As of iOS6 you can use NSAttributedString:
NSDictionary *attributes = #{NSStrikethroughStyleAttributeName: [NSNumber numberWithInteger:NSUnderlinePatternSolid | NSUnderlineStyleSingle]};
NSAttributedString *attributedString = [[NSAttributedString alloc] initWithString:#"$127.95" attributes:attributes];
Use https://github.com/mattt/TTTAttributedLabel for dropped in UILabel replacement, it does all the Core Text heavy lifting pretty well.
Please have a look at this answer:
CoreText and strikethrough on iPhone
It suggests using Core Text as described here:
http://www.cocoanetics.com/2011/01/befriending-core-text/
Note: this is iOS6 only.

Change UILabel color animated

How to change the color of the UILabel text gradually like the following link?
Can any one suggest me some code?
You can use formatted text.
NSMutableAttributedString *str = [[NSMutableAttributedString alloc] initWithString:#"Hello World"];
[string addAttribute:NSForegroundColorAttributeName value:[UIColor greenColor] range:NSMakeRange(1,5)];
iOS < 6
Second you need to subclass UILabel and print this string inside the drawRect method. You need to create a some type of loop that changes the color according to the speech speed.
iOS 6
You can use the attributedTextproperty (no need to subclass)
(void)drawTextInRect:(CGRect)rect
or reuse code:
https://github.com/mattt/TTTAttributedLabel
The app that you linked [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_vOYvaNhSHw] , probably is maded using cocos2d.
In cocos2d, you can change text color easily also with animation.
Here an example:
http://www.cocos2d-iphone.org/forum/topic/5903
Here cosos2d sdk, i suggest to try, because it's very powerful:
http://www.cocos2d-iphone.org/
enjoy.
here is one of my sample code. using block method of TTTAttributedLabel class it may help you .
[cell.lblAtt setText:strAtt afterInheritingLabelAttributesAndConfiguringWithBlock:^NSMutableAttributedString *(NSMutableAttributedString *mutableAttributedString) {
UIFont *italicSystemFont = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:12];
CTFontRef italicFont = CTFontCreateWithName((__bridge CFStringRef)italicSystemFont.fontName, italicSystemFont.pointSize, NULL);
NSUInteger lenght = [[tempObj objectForKey:#"username"] length];
NSUInteger lenght2 = [[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%d",[tempArr count]] length];
[mutableAttributedString addAttribute:(NSString*)kCTForegroundColorAttributeName value:(id)[ThemeColor CGColor] range:NSMakeRange(0,lenght)];
[mutableAttributedString addAttribute:(NSString*)kCTFontAttributeName value:(__bridge UIFont*)italicFont range:NSMakeRange(0,lenght)];
[mutableAttributedString addAttribute:(NSString*)kCTForegroundColorAttributeName value:(id)[ThemeColor CGColor] range:NSMakeRange(lenght+11,lenght2)];
[mutableAttributedString addAttribute:(NSString*)kCTFontAttributeName value:(__bridge UIFont*)italicFont range:NSMakeRange(lenght+11,lenght2)];
return mutableAttributedString;
}];
Use NSAtributedString in UILabel from iOS 6.0. For lesser version below iOS 6.0 use TTTAttributedLabel which supports NSAtributedString
Change attributed string according to your requirement by setting it again in UILabel
EDIT add colored text as u want for example in loop
For 1st second in Label : I am good boy.
For 2nd second in Label : I am good boy.
For 3rd second in Label : I am good boy.
For 4th second in Label : I am good boy.
For 5th second in Label : I am good boy.

Escaping the #" " characters in Objective C

I'm trying to set the background image of a view based on a passed "artistID." Here is my code so far:
NSString *backgroundImageName = [[NSString alloc]initWithFormat:#"artistbackground%i.png",_artistID];
self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithPatternImage:[UIImage imageNamed:backgroundImageName]];
NSLog(#"%#",backgroundImageName);
unfortunately, for the parameter in ImageNamed, I'm passing in:
artistibackground1
instead of:
#"artistbackgound1"
Any ideas on how to escape the # and the quotes??
Thanks!!
self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithPatternImage:[UIImage imageNamed:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"#%#",backgroundImageName]];
Essentially make two strings, it will add the #"" in the second.
You should use \ before the character you want. An example:
NSLog(#"\#\"Try\"");
The code prints
#"Try"
Don't forget that even string constants are NSString objects in Objective-C. This is part of the magic! I frequently see programmers new to the language writing this line:
[NSString stringWithFormat:#"#%#",backgroundImageName];
But you can simplify this line to:
[#"#" stringByAppendingString:backgroundImageName];
Magic!

is it possible to set the UILabel distance between the Letters?

is it possible to set a distance between the Letters like a b c
Yes, you could do by using the StringWithFormat or initWithFormat function of NSString.
Do something like below ..
NSString* myString = [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:#"%# %# %#",#"a",#"b",#"c"];
Assign myString to your label.
Neither UILabel nor the UIFont you set it to have character spacing options. There's likely a way to do with with Core Text, but a quick look through the framework documentation didn't reveal it.
