How to get subdirectory from the FTP server? - iphone

I have implemented one application in which the user can connect with FTP server from the iphone using authentication, and get the listing of the directory.
Now when user touch on main directory then I want subdirectory listing.
How is it possible?

I would recommend that you take a look at the following link and framework that deal with FTP sessions and downloading/uploading, and listing/creating directories.
iPhone FTP Example that deals with listing/creating FTP directories
SimpleFTPSample
Simple FTP component for iPhone apps (inspired from the idea of ASIHTTPRequest)
s7ftprequest
With these two references you should be well on your way to getting your directory listing from a FTP server. Hope this info helps. Post a comment if need any additional help.

Move website to another server without FTP or SSH

I have a problem with an existing TYPO3 website. (9.5.13)
Unfortunately, I no longer have FTP or SSH access to this server. (Provider can no longer be contacted) I would therefore have to move this website to another server. I only have admin access to Typo3 website.
Unfortunately I can't find a way to do this without copying the files and the database to the new server.
Is there a possibility? If so, how can I do this?
There is no real good way if you don't have a proper access to the server.
For the database you could use the extension phpmyadmin or t3adminer
but there is IMO no extension to download the content of the fileadmin (which will be a native feature of TYPO3 11 LTS).
However you could download at least all extensions of course.
In former times, there were two extensions trying to implement a FTP client as backend-module. The one was "Typo3 quixplorer", the other was "Typo3 eXtplorer"... Quixplorer is outdated (last update of extension in 2010), eXtplorer had its last update 2008...
Both extensions have security issues! Be careful and remove them immediately after usage!
Maybe you can find similar projects running in current web environments...
You may build some php script to archive the whole fileadmin-folder, and make a database dump. which you can download from the server.
Or you use a script to contact the new server to transfer the data immideatly.
It's just a question how you can upload these scripts as TYPO3 does not allow the direct upload of executables.
This is a really unfortunate situation, but you can copy the database and the files by using this extensions. Be aware: I haven't tested this extensions or took a look into the code and picked them by their description and README files. Use them carefully and on your own risk!
Note: In general the TYPO3 Security Team recommends to not use any
extension that bundles database management tools on production TYPO3
websites.
Database:
Use EXT:adminer or EXT:phpmyadmin to download your database tables.
Files:
Install EXT:commands or EXT:additional_scheduler to zip & download your files & folders.
All in one solution:
While researching I've found the extension EXT:ns_backup. Maybe you can us it to transfer the backup to cloud services like dropbox.

How to extend an orientdb embedded server to have my own servlets?

I have created an orientdb embedded server standalone app to which I can query from console. However I need to extend the functionality to publish a page where multiple users can run queries and see (custom) svg visualizations. How can I do this?
I presume I need to create some html pages with servlets and also some orient db javascript libraries. But I am not sure how to connect all these.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Rao
You can create your pages under OrientDB server's www directory or also create a plugin that is a zip with pages and optionally Java classes. Unzip the studio file under plugins to see how is made.
Look also to how to write plugins.
I just found that required html files placed under the path: "[orientdb app path]/src/site" are accessible through http url. The bold ones are the folders which I created.
This path is looked upon in the OServerCommandGetStaticContent.java which in turn is configured in the config.xml for HTTP requests. I think if you wish you handle the http requests in your own java, you can mention that in the config.xml.
Thank you Luca for your pointer!

Deploy WPF ClickOnce .application File as .EXE

I've developed a WPF application. A large company is trying to make my application available to users' desktops. The traditional way to do this would be to point the users' browsers to:
http://www.MySite.com/MyApp.application
But the I.T. group at this company has configured their proxy server in such a way so as to block .application files for security reasons. They do, however, allow .exe files to pass through their proxy server and execute on client workstations. The irony of allowing .exe's from the Internet while blocking .application text files "for security reasons" isn't wasted on me but let's put that aside for a moment.
What kind of workaround would you recommend that would allow my app to launch from client desktops given that .EXEs are allowed? My first thought is to write a mini launcher app that does nothing more than download a .zip'd version of the .application file and all dependencies to a temp folder on the user's machine and then launch the .application file from there. Is there a better solution?
FWIW: Google has figured out a way to deploy their Chrome browser to Windows desktops in corporations like this one, despite the fact that ClickOnce is their deployment mechanism. If you view the source code at:
http://www.google.com/chrome/thankyou.html?&oneclickinstalled=
...you'll see they're pointing to an installer at:
/update2/installers/clickonce/GoogleInstaller_en.application.
That's a clickonce file. But somehow they've figured out a way to wrap it in an .exe in order to bypass proxy restrictions on .application files. I not familiar enough with JScript to understand what they're doing but it works. I'm trying to emulate this behavior for my own app.
This may not work for your situation. However, one possibility is to xcopy your exe and any dependencies to a folder on your webserver. Add a link in a webpage to your exe so your users can launch the app by clicking the link. In order for any of the users to be able to run the exe the first time, a caspol script needs to be run on each user machine to allow your app to run. Whenever you update the app, just xcopy the new version to the same folder on the webserver.

Downloading/Uploading a file from a sftp server on the iphone

I need to connect to a sftp/scp server download a file, edit it and then reupload it.
As far as i know the SKD itself doesn't give you the ability for secure connections via ftp.
Any Ideas?
There we go: http://www.chilkatsoft.com/ssh-sftp-objc.asp
Does everything and a bit more. It's commercial but it doesn't really matter in our case as developing our own libssl2 wrapper would take weeks and weeks.
https://github.com/karelia/libssh2_sftp-Cocoa-wrapper
I have not tried it (yet...), but it's from the same person who made ConnectionKit. It's SFTP (I'm not sure if they mean secure ftp or ssh file transfer protocol)

What is WEBDAV?

I want to use WebDAv server to share files among systems and (iPod or iPhone) in my iphone project. To use it, do I have to use an individual webserver? Or is it a built in facility?
WebDAV is a way to share files through a web server, which includes functionality for file locking and versioning.
Presumably, you would run Apache or another WebDAV-savvy web server, enabling access to a folder and its contents through the setting of relevant permissions.
This service would be run on a server somewhere — such as a Mac OS X workstation, which has Apache installed by default — and which has files that you want to present to the outside world.
Your iPhone device would connect to the WebDAV server through a WebDAV client; for example, DAV-E. The client locates and displays a list of files and folders, allowing uploads and downloads.
It typically isn't a built-in facility, but can be enabled as an extension of existing webservers, e.g mod_dav for Apache, WebDAV publishing for IIS, etc.
Short for Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning.
WebDav is sometimes referred to as DAV.
An IETF standard set of platform-independent extensions to HTTP
It allows users to collaboratively edit and manage files on remote Web servers.
It features XML properties on metadata, locking - which prevents authors from overwriting each other's changes - namespace manipulation and remote file management.
