App Store submission problem: A pre-release beta version of the SDK was used to build the application - iphone

I upload my app to app store, I already build my apps using device - 3.1 , which should be the a release version of app store. How can I avoid this warning? thz....

You can not use the Beta version of XCode to build, even when you build against an older SDK. You can install the Beta 3.2 and the official 3.1 in two different directories. This question was answered before btw.

You've answered your own question. You're using an SDK which is currently in beta, I'm assuming 3.2. Go to the Apple dev center and download the 3.1.3 SDK:
http://developer.apple.com/iphone

What version of Xcode and the iPhone SDK are you using? It sounds like you might be using an old (or very new) version of the build tools.

upgrade to iOS 6.1.2 sdk available?

I recently updated my iphone to 6.1.2.. I am no longer able to use my iphone for development as i have the ios 6 sdk! What should i do now? Should i upgrade my ios sdk to 6.1.2?Is it available??.. I was looking to do that but all i could find was several beta versions of ios 6 sdk which clearly don't specify what version they are in the apple developer site??
I tried to upgrade my ios sdk from XCode -> Preferences -> Downloads .. But apparently there isn't any update to the ios sdk 6.1.2 available there!
Any suggestions on how i can resolve this issue?
Help is greatly appreciated.Thank you!!
You need to upgrade your Xcode to support your Iphone's os version... You can easily upgrade your Xcode from AppStore in your mac.....
Just click App Store and then see the update tab... you will got what you need.
The latest Xcode (Get it from the Mac App Store) should give you everything you need!
Go on iOS dev center, and download last XCode 4.6.1 (which includes the latest SDK 6.1) directly.

iPhone development on beta version?

I've downloaded latest version of Xcode and iOS SDK:
iOS 5.1 beta 3 and Xcode 4.3 Developer Preview with iOS 5.1 SDK beta 3.
When I check the Xcode about version following information is displayed:
Xcode 4.2.1 (834) (4D502)
iphone OS: 5.0 (9A334)
I'm not sure whether I face any problems or not when I submit my app with beta software. If so what's the best procedure here? revert back to production version and develop the app?
Thanks in advance,
You can't submit apps built by a beta version of Xcode anyway.
But you are still using the stable version (4.2.1).
That's probably because Apple changed the way they distribute Xcode. The beta version (4.3) is a single app in your application directory. But the stable version (4.2) is located in /Developer.
So the beta version could not overwrite the stable version because they are stored in different places.
Since you still have the stable version there is no need to revert anything.
It even looks like you accidentally used the stable version all the time ^^
For the future: Make sure to keep the stable Xcode if you want to submit apps.

iTunes Connect rejects my binary because I used a pre-release version of the SDK, what should I do?

I downloaded a pre-release version of the iPhone SDK and tried to update one of my existing apps using a binary I built with it. Obviously you are not supposed to do this but I had forgotten about the warning when I installed the pre-release SDK. Anyway - I have two questions:
Can I simply set the base SDK to an earlier version in the build settings and get around this problem?
If not, then what should I do?
You need to download the release version of Xcode with the release iPhone SDK. You can't use the SDK downloaded from the iPad beta version for any release products.
Just go to http://developer.apple.com/iphone/index.action and click on iPhone SDK 3.1 and download it. Then build your app bundle with that and submit it to Apple.
Before you download a pre-release version of the SDK from developer.apple.com, there are several prominent warnings, one of which clearly states that pre-release versions of Xcode / iPhone SDK can NOT be used to build production binaries. So the answer to 1. is an emphatic no.
As far as I can tell, the only option to be able to build production binaries that iTunes Connect will accept is to delete the pre-release version of Xcode / iPhone SDK and re-install the older stable version.
If you upgraded using the beta download (as opposed to installing on a fresh box that has never seen SDK or Xcode), set the base SDK to a released version of the OS. Compile a Distribution build, submit to the app store. The old SDK is still there, so that will get used. All of the prominent warnings I have seen state the the SDK cannot be used, without mention of Xcode.
Before anyone scoffs, note that I submitted an app on March 13 using the version of Xcode (3.2.2) included in Beta 4, setting Base SDK to 3.1. It was approved on the 15th. I've also done this during the 3.0 beta for 2.x apps.
EDIT: on the other hand, acceptance apparently isn't always guaranteed (note that this person had also submitted an app that did get accepted): The binary you uploaded was invalid. A pre-release beta version of the SDK was used to build the application

How to develop for iphone 3.1.3 without re-downloading the whole SDK

I have downloaded the latest iphone SDK which support developing for the ipad 3.2 and iphone 3.1.2
However 2 days ago the firmware 3.1.3 has been released by apple so my question is how to make my SDK to support this new firmware without re-downloading the whole SDK which is more than 2 gigs?
Thanks
You can install them to different paths. I recommend installing the 3.1.3 SDK to /Developer and the 3.2 SDK to /Developer (Prerelease). Then, launch whichever version of Xcode you want to use.
Maybe you can simply symlink the 3.1.2 SDK to 3.1.3? I think that was advised in the past when a minor update came out.
Unfortunately, it is the additional tools, not the SDK that take up a large chunk of the 2.5GB+ download size. The official response is there are no SDK only downloads. So you're kind of stuck with the download.
If you're looking to try make 2 SDKs available to you at once, well that's a different question.

How to get older SDK and do I need to?

I have OS 10.6 on my mac. I started with iphone SDK for snow lepard which builds for SDK 3.0 to 3.1.2. I'm ready to submit my app to the store. I'd like older iphones to use it as well. I can't find Apple's link for SDK 2.2. Only the link for the 3.1 sdk.
Do I need to release the app built with 2.2 ? If so where can I find it?
Can iphone users update the OS on their phones?
Thanks,
Actually, on my mac, (10.6.2) iphone sdk will build 'down' to 2.2.
And yes, iPhone users can upgrade (and downgrade) their OS. -- but you knew that since you've got an iPhone for testing right?
:)
In the XCode, you can either specify which SDK to use to build your application or which OS version to use to test your application. See this guide for more details.
