Can anybody point me to a good beginner's guide for making Facebook apps?

Have you tried facebook developer articles?

The facebook developer forum is a good place to start as well.

I brought the book, Facebook Application Development for Dummies. I am in the initial stages but does look like it explains the basics really well.

Could you please point me out to some tutorials for facebook SDK.
I would like to write a desktop app that is just taking a photo and it's posting it on a page wall.
Is there any way for doing this in C# code?
Yes, there is an unofficial sdk here for C#: http://csharpsdk.org/
It also contains tutorials.

There are a couple of popular libraries for developing Facebook apps in C# on codeplex.
FaceSharp
Facebook C#
If you have experience with either one, please provide the Pros and Cons for each. I am planning to develop a Silverlight facebook app which will run in Canvas and on a public site.
Well i would vote to KMicrosoft's Facebook SDK.Works well and provides you everything you want FQL or Async Get .i think you should go for it

Somehow I have the feeling that I am not the only one scratching my head with FB documentation. There seems to be quite a lot of overlapping features in APIs and I cannot tell whether something is going to be deprecated or not.
How can I find the current best practices? And any recommendations of FB technology blogs etc?
FB dev blog? http://developers.facebook.com/blog/
They are pretty up-to-date and talk about recent changes to Facebook APIs..
Just found this:
