I am facing a strange problem . When i single click on my files in the left pane of Xcode window. The file doesnt automatically show on the right pane. I have to double click on my classes files or resources files to open them . It was working fine since yesterday. Does anyone has any idea wats wrong?
If I understand it correctly! I think you were working with multiple files and opened these files in right pane. when you click on image in left pane the image will show in the current(focused window) in right pane and then if you click on any file the image window would not get refreshed. The file you have clicked opened in the another window (minimized window). To resolve your problem - click on the close button in upper right corner (second button look like a rectangle), this will close the current window. Close all the windows now click on the file in left pane, it will show up in the right pane window.

I don't know what I have done but I cannot see the "Open Editors" panel in the Explorer view
I note also that clicking on the three dots (Views and More Actions...) to the right of the word Explorer at the top of the explorer panel the word Folders is greyed out
Can anyone point me to the setting I need to change in order to rectify this situation?
Just in case anyone else has the same problem here is how I resolved my issue. I won't bore you with how I discovered the solution.
Right-click in the activity bar, this will bring up a context menu with the entry for Open Editors listed but not marked with a tick

Clicking on "Open Editors" in this context menu brings up a new icon in the activity bar that looks like an open book

Right-clicking on this new icon reveals another context menu that includes the option to reset the location of the Open Editors panel.

Selecting this option resolves the problem.
How I got into the problem in the first place is still difficult to ascertain. With the activity bar in its default configuration I must have dragged the "Open Editors" header to somewhere on the activity bar, that clearly removes it from the Explorer side bar but how I inadvertently right clicked this new icon and selected "Hide 'Open Editors'" without realising remains a mystery.
Go to view and click on Open View and the on Open Editors.
3 dots on extreme right hand side has an option - keep editors open --> set it to default view. Once done the open editor will be be visible on the left.
This is considering you have default vs code layout...
I am currently using version: 1.68.1
In VS Code, go to Settings and in the search box, type explorer.openEditors.visible. Set the value in the dialogue box to any number greater than 0 and you are good to go. Refer to the image below.
When I click on an editor tab the focus in the explorer pane shifts to the file in question. This seems pointless to me. Can I stop this from happening? Obviously I want to continue being able to click on a file in the explorer pane and for the relevant tab to open or come up in the editor.
You may be wondering why I want this. It's because one of my open files is way down the explorer pane list and the files I want to see in the pane are up at the top of the list.
I had a bunch of projects open in VSCode and to clean up my left sidebar, I right clicked on them and clicked "Remove from Sidebar"
This removed the folders that I wanted to be removed from my sidebar. When I tried to re-open any of these folders, however, VSCode does nothing. I can open folders that I have not previously removed from the sidebar, but for ones that I have removed, they will not open.
Any help would be appreciated!
If you right clicked and "hide from side bar" something in visual studio code, you can get it back.
Simply right click the name of the side bar, at the top. A list of every panel in the side bar is displayed with checkmarks next to it.
Select the one without a checkmark and it comes back.
This also works if you have accidentally hidden the call stack panel from the debug side bar, for example.
I am using GNAT GPS version 6.0.1 in Windows 7. For some unknown reason, the Project View pane that is on the left side of the main window has disappeared when I use the debugger. I can't find any menu or preference options that control whether this pane is visible.
Update--
I should point out that this is the pane with the tabs along the left side rather than along the top. I can show a similar pane with projects listed by splitting the main window, but its tabs are along the top. Also, Its behavior is different form the one with tabs on the left side. Double-clicking on a file name, for example, should open the file in the main window. Using a split window. this opens the file in the window that is showing the projects.

I can select Project -> Project View from the toolbar, and I get a Project View as one tab in the main window (along with the source files that I am working with).
Can someone tell me how to control whether the left-hand pane is visible and how to make sure the Project View has a tab in that pane?
Also, when I look at Window -> Perspective, I see that the Default perspective is selected when I'm not using the debugger and the Debug perspective is selected when I am using the debugger. Switching from the Debug perspective to the Default perspective while I am running the debugger does bring back the left-hand pane, but my debug tab and the Debugger Data window disappear. Can I fix the Debug perspective so the left-hand pane is part of its configuration by deffault?
By the way, in this version, there is no Show View option in the toolbar menus.
This can be opened with /Project/Project View or /Tools/Views/Project.
To put the tabs to the left instead of the top, right click on the tab and select the Tabs Location item. You can also use drag-and-drop (from a tab) to move windows around, in particular to move the Project view to the left of your desktop.
That said, the simplest might be to remove the file $HOME/.gps/perspectives6.xml to restart from the default desktop.
I am more familiar in Eclipse and need the IntelliJ equivalent. In Eclipse, I could open a java class, right click, show file in package explorer and it would highlight the file on the left. What is the IntelliJ equivalent.
You can highlight a file you have open in the editor in a number of views using the Select In...menu that can be opened using ALT-F1 when the editor window has the cursor.
The most usual ones (Project/Packages) are found under the menu opened by ALT-F1 and then right arrow.
You can also double click the circle/cross button ontop of the Project view
it will show you the current active file in the project structure
You can turn on Autoscroll from source in Project Tool Window so that the file/class to the left is scrolled to as soon as you open a file for edit.
If this option is on, IntelliJ IDEA automatically navigates from a file in the editor to the corresponding node (file, class, field, method, etc.) in the Project tool window.
Note that selecting this option makes the Scroll to Source button unavailable.

file > settings > keymap > select in project view : alt+E for example
You can press Alt-Home, it goes to the navigation bar.
Go to or select the package by pressing left arrow.
Press F4 now to see it in the project view.
