I would like to move an imageView contained on a cell and it works but creating a new image at new position keeping old image (then two are shown). How could I remove old one?? used code:
UIImage *cellImage = [UIImage imageNamed:(#"%#", showIconName)];
UIImageView *imageViewToPutInCell = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:cellImage];
imageViewToPutInCell.frame = CGRectMake(iconPos, 7, cellImage.size.width, cellImage.size.height);

every time that I reload tableView, it creates a new overlapped image.
[cell.contentView removeFromSuperview]; used before, removes it but then new image is not created.
There are a couple of ways to do this. Without subclassing, you could set the tag on your imageViewToPutInCell, then later on, use -[UIView viewWithTag:] to find and remove the view:
int imageViewTag = 1234;
[[cell.contentView viewWithTag: imageViewTag] removeFromSuperview];
imageViewToPutInCell.tag = imageViewTag;

I have an UIImage above which I am supposed to add another UIImage programmatically, above which there will be an UILabel. I successfully added the Image but it overlaps the Label.
If 1. BG image 2.Image to be added programmatically 3. Label,
then the sequence I want is,

2 overlaps my Label. I have tried Send to Back, Bring to Front and bringSubviewToFront. It did not work.

What you should do is add the particular images in that sequence itself, i.e. in the ViewWillAppear or the ViewDidLoad method use the method
self.view addSubview:BGimage .
Then add the next image on the previous one like
BGimage addSubview:image2 .
Similarly add the UILabel on the Image 2 like
Image2 addSubview:Label
This will put your images and the label in the particular sequence you want :)
try this, add QuartzCore.framework and in your header file
#import <QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h>
and in you implementation file
your_Label.layer.zPosition=your_secondImage.layer.zPosition+1;
The order of adding is important here the later one comes in front
Add subview should be called in an order first BGImage then Image and then Label
If you want to show BG Image (1) then you can also use UIView instead of UIImageView You can also do the samething with UIImageView as well.
[yourUIView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor colorWithPatternImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"yourBackGroundImage"]]];
[yourUIView setFrame:CGRect(x,y,width,height)]; //yourExpectedFrame;
Now, create a UIImageView (2) with UIImage and also set a frame within that UIView, also create a UILabel (3) and give it frame as per the UIView and accordingly with UIImageView. That's all. You done!.
i m not sure,but you try this:
Set the property masksToBounds: YES for the UIImageView.
I can now display a UIImageView that is within an array but using the following:
[[self.guess objectAtIndex:1] setFrame:CGRectMake(20, 20, 100, 100)];
[self.view addSubview:[self.guess objectAtIndex:1]];
If I want to change the image within one of my UIImageViews within the array
I can use:
[self.guess replaceObjectAtIndex:1 withObject:Square];
but I then have to remove the original view, then add the new subview again:
[[self.guess objectAtIndex:1] removeFromSuperview];
[self.view addSubview:[self.guess objectAtIndex:1]];
The trouble is, my new subview does not inherit the frame position and size
of the original image (as this may have changed). Is there a way to do this
more easily?
I was hoping for something like this, that would just update the original
image in the same position, with the same size:
[self.guess.image replaceObjectAtIndex:1 withObject:Square.image];

Would it be possible to store only the images in the array and just have one UIImageView? Then, just replace the image inside the UIImageView element
What Radu already said, its better to keep an array of images, or imageNames. Then you also do not have to remove the imageView from the superView, you just reuse the one and only one ImageView.
So what you left is something like this
yourImageView.image = [self.guess objectAtIndex:1];
And if you only store the names in the array
yourImageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:[self.guess objectAtIndex:1]];
I don't if you've tried this yet, but this should work.

I have set imageView's frame in table using the following code.

[cell.imageView setFrame:CGRectMake(5, 5, 10, 10)];
But image is displayed from the corner of the cell.
It does not changes the position or size.
what should I do ?
You will not be able to change the cells imageView frame. Your best option would be to create a custom cell.
You can change the frame of the cell by creating a subclass of UITableViewCell and overriding the layoutSubviews method.
In your subclass implementation of layoutSubviews, call super's implementation first and then modify the frame of imageView.
You can add your desired imageview as a subview to the cell

You can create custom table view cells and position the elements where you want them to be.
Its also helpful as you will have control on how similar you want your UI to be be to the requirements.
You can do it in interface builder or in code. Also there are loads of examples as this is most common approach in iphone app development (Having a custom table view cell) and you can use the delegates to populate the table view and it works like a charm.

You either add a tag for that UIImageView and find it based on tag or loop throughout the subviews and look for an object of class UIImageView containing the image you need to change.
Easiest way is probably with tags. So...
UIImageView *removeMe = [[UIImageView alloc] init];
removeMe.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"theImage.png"];
removeMe.tag = 1;
[theView addSubview:removeMe];
[removeMe release]; //theView now retains it!
...then later:
UIImageView *removalTarget = (UIImageView *)[theView viewWithTag:1];

i have the different image with the different size too, i want to put it in cell.imageView.image in every cell, but i want make same size in every cell although the image have the different size, i write this on my code :

I just ran into this same problem. I wanted the photos to be 65 x 65, but they were filling in the size of the UITableViewCell instead. I resolved it by creating the UIImageView programmatically and adding it as a subview to the UITableViewCell. For example:
UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:photo];
imageView.frame = CGRectMake(6.5, 6.5, 65., 65.);
[cell addSubview:imageView];
Edit for clarity: This problem was occurring when I tried to create the UIImageView in Interface Builder. I took it out of Interface Builder and added it programmatically instead.
In case anybody else runs into this with custom cells: it appears that if your custom cell has an outlet named imageView, it will be treated like the image view in a basic-style cell, i.e. the image view's size will be adjusted. Simply picking another name avoids this behavior.
If your cell is a built in cell, it is supposed that the cell will resize all the images to a fixed, default size. Can you post an screenshot of your application as well?
I just saw your question. I faced the same problem, and the code worked for me is following:
