An error occurred while collecting items to be installed
session context was:(profile=epp.package.java, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.provisional.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).
Unable to read repository at http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.5/plugins/com.google.appengine.eclipse.sdkbundle.1.3.3_1.3.3.v201004231111.jar.

Unable to read repository at http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/3.5/plugins/com.google.gwt.eclipse.sdkbundle.2.0.3_2.0.3.v201002191036.jar.
Read timed out

Have you tried the alternative installation procedure (from a zip file)?

Here is the work around :
Separately download the jar files for which read timeout is hapenning.
In this case download
com.google.gwt.eclipse.sdkbundle.2.0.3_2.0.3.v201002191036.jar.
com.google.appengine.eclipse.sdkbundle.1.3.3_1.3.3.v201004231111.jar.
using above url.
Note: both jars are above 80MB and takes a while for download.
copy the jars to plugin folder of eclipse
resume plugin installation once again.

TestNG Installation

I have been trying to install TestNG to my Eclipse.
Eclipse version is Version: Mars.1 Release (4.5.1)..
While trying to install, it shows the error as mentioned below.
Please guide me how to rectify this problem.
An error occurred while collecting items to be installed session context was:(profile=epp.package.jee,
phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=,
action=). Unable to read repository at
http://beust.com/eclipse/plugins/org.testng.eclipse_6.9.10.201512240000.jar.
Premature end of Content-Length delimited message body (expected:
3005134; received: 1555400
My this problem got solved by "Not downloading Optional TestNG" part (i.e Dont download "TestNG M2E Integration (Optional)" if not needed(It's recommended to install it if your Java project(s) are managed by Maven))
If it looks like some thing went wrong...
Follow below steps
Help >> Eclipse MarketPlace >> Search for TestNG and then install it.
Thank You,

installing software has encountered error in the eclipse in ubuntu

i have one problem
i have setup of the liferay
i download the eclipse mars for the development but whenever i go to eclipse market place to download plugi for the liferay i have encounter the following error .
An error occurred while collecting items to be installed
session context was:(profile=epp.package.jee, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).
Unable to read repository at http://releases.liferay.com/tools/ide/latest/stable/tools/plugins/com.liferay.ide.doc_2.2.3.201505281145-ga4.jar.
connect timed out
It seems somehow Eclipse is trying to interpret the URL shown in the error as a repository, which it is not.
To check this, go to Preferences > Install/Update > Available Software Sites. If you find that URL in the list, remove it.
That jar file actually exists and can be downloaded OK - you may want to try this from your machine, too.
When you try again installing from the MarketPlace and if again you get an error, I'd expect that error to show up under "Errors" in https://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/liferay-ide. Here you also have the opportunity to write a comment which should get the attention of the solution provider.

"zip file is empty" when installing RTC Eclipse plugin

I'm trying to install the RTC-Client-p2Repo-4.0.5.zip (290.9 MB) eclipse plugin in Eclipse Luna version 32 bit on Linux. After selection the jar file and hitting finish, I get the error at the bottom. The jar file size is 290.9 MiB (305,030,442 bytes) and I am able to extract it.
An error occurred during the org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.CheckTrust phase.
session context was:(profile=epp.package.jee, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.CheckTrust, operand=, action=).
Error reading signed content.
zip file is empty
An RTC 4.x+ is meant to be installed in an Eclipse 3.6+ (as in "Install RTC Eclipse Client 4.0 into an existing Eclipse 3.6.2 using Installation Manager")
The support for a latest Eclipse 4.4 Luna is not guaranteed.
I re-installed eclipse and that fixed the issue. The ".eclipse" folder may need to be removed too, although I didn't see one in my Linux VM.
Issue Identified & Solved
This issue arises when u try to retrieve the codBase from RTC repository to your local Workspace.
Usually u might be facing following issue :
Jar files in your project gets corrupted due to inevitable pushing of code in RTC repository as you would have been getting the following error where in my case Platform.jar was corrupted.
WARNING: Failed to process JAR [jar:file:/D:/Workspace/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.wst.server.core/tmp0/wtpwebapps/ProjectName/WEB-INF/lib/platform.jar!/] for TLD files
Solution :
Try Replacing the corrupted jar files in your workspace at the respective location.
Try to push fresh/updated code in RTC repository,so the jar files wont get corrupted
My solution was to go through Help-->Eclipse Marketplace, search for the plugin and install it from there.

Installation of Helios' XML Editor into Helios based Eclipse fails

I am working with IBM Rational Function Tester 8.3, which is Eclipse 3.6 (Helios) based. I wanted to install XML support, so I enabled the Helios update site and chose Eclipse XML Editors and Tools 3.2.3 to install. I was promted for license agreement and then the installation started as expected. After some time downloading things Eclipse showed me an error.
An error occurred while collecting items to be installed
session context was:(profile=bootProfile, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).
No repository found containing: osgi.bundle,org.eclipse.core.resources,3.6.2.R36x_v20110628-1020
I also tried Eclipse XML Editors and Tools 3.2.2 with the same result. I verified that org.eclipse.core.resources_3.6.2.R36x_v20110628-1020 is in the plugins folder of the installation and that it is loaded in the plugin registry. The needed plugin is available and active.
I have no idea why this happens. Please someone can shed some light into this issue. What could cause this problem? Thank you.

Probably you had a local fail judging by this error. Try restart Eclipse and install this plugin again. But in general, to avoid such troubles, I would recommend you to install any Eclipse plugins manually from an archive file.
