I tested with twitter api send message from my iphone and its work fine its few lines of code,
I pasted below
NSMutableURLRequest *theRequest=[NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:[NSURL URLWithString:#"http://username:password#twitter.com/statuses/update.xml"]
cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy
timeoutInterval: 60.0];
[theRequest setHTTPMethod:#"POST"];
[theRequest setHTTPBody:[[NSString stringWithFormat:#"status=%#", #"test message sends from iphone"] dataUsingEncoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding]];
NSURLResponse* response;
NSError* error;
NSData* result = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:theRequest returningResponse:&response error:&error];
NSLog(#"%#", [[[NSString alloc] initWithData:result encoding:NSASCIIStringEncoding] autorelease]);
Like wise i want to send text and photo to facebook account ? Is it possible ?
The fbconnect is more no of blocks and lines , can anyone help me ? a simple way to understand it ?
Thanks in advance

With the new OAuth Facebook API and the new facebook-ios-sdk I don't think you can do without the dialog. The whole point is that your app never sees and stores the user credentials. If you then close the app and the login dialog appears again a cookie (set/used by the UIWebView, AFAIK) logs you in without you needing to enter the credentials again.

save sign up view controller text values on the server through php web service call using post method in iOS

i have sign up form in which i have the fields like first name,last name,gender,email,password,user image,age. i want to make save this user information on the server through php webservice call.how can i pass these parameters to service url? will i use the http request using post method to save the user info to server and when that user wants to log in iOS app , i may match the credencial for that user. in shore, i need a log in and sign up screen for my iOS app, please suggest me any tutorial
Thanks in advance to all of you
First you need nto create php script and then transfer data through NSURL.
NSURL * url=[NSURL URLWithString:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"http://192.168.0.6/savedevicedata.php?Udid=%#&Flag=%d&DateTime=%#",uniqueIdentifier,Flag,FinalDate]];
NSMutableURLRequest *request = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:url];
NSLog(#"%#",request);
[request setHTTPMethod:#"POST"];
//[request setHTTPBody:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"%#",rawStr]];
NSURLResponse *response;
NSError *err;
NSData *responseData = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:request returningResponse:&response error:&err];
NSLog(#"responseData: %#", responseData);
Try this Code just replaces the your field.

Web service in iphone

Hi everyone i am new to iphone development.I am working on an application which required to check and register the user name and password using soap web service.could anyone help me how to do that with that web service.i have two text fields for login.and button to check if the credentials are correct or not.
Maybe this is helpful for you: http://devmylife.com/?p=111
The website disappeared, you can find it here: http://web.archive.org/web/20100704000223/http://devmylife.com/?p=111
ASIHTTP SOAP Request
First of all down http://www.soapui.org/ or any packet sniffing app. and try requesting your SOAP-service. When you get the SOAP-packet, you have to exactly generate the same packet using ASIHTTP. You have to add headers yourself.
Download latest version of ASIHTTP
NSString *urlString = URL_HOST;
NSString *soapMessage = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"<SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV=\"http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/\" xmlns:SOAP-ENC=\"http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:xsd=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema\" SOAP-ENV:encodingStyle=\"http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/\">"
"<SOAP-ENV:Body>"
"<m:getInboxPosts xmlns:m=\"urn:finditnearwsdl\">"
"<input xsi:type=\"tns:InboxPostsRequest\">"
"<session_id xsi:type=\"xsd:string\">%#</session_id>"
"<page_size xsi:type=\"xsd:int\"></page_size>"
"<offset xsi:type=\"xsd:int\"></offset>"
"</input>"
"</m:getInboxPosts>"
"</SOAP-ENV:Body>"
"</SOAP-ENV:Envelope>" ,adBo.sessionId];
NSLog(soapMessage);
ASIHTTPRequest *request = [ASIHTTPRequest requestWithURL:urlString];
[request appendPostData:[soapMessage dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding];
[request addRequestHeader:#"SOAPAction:" value:SOAP_ACTION];
[request startSynchronous];

Difficulties signing in to Twitter from iPhone

I'm using MGTwitterEngine to add Twitter functionality to my app. It's very easy to simply prompt the user for a username and password and then start posting. Strangely, however, I've noticed other apps (eg Foursquare and Brightkite) require you to visit their website to associate your Twitter account with your foursquare/brightkite/whatever account.
Why do they do it this way?
Is there a reason why my app shouldn't prompt the user for a Twitter username and password, even though it would be so easy?
Thanks a bunch!
Tristan
This is because you're using Basic Auth, which is just a username/password. Most new Twitter apps use the more robust OAuth, which requires you to visit Twitter.com to allow access, but does not require a username/password. The Twitter API docs claim that support for Basic Auth will be dropped soon, so you should be using OAuth as well.
Twitter supports OAuth, which allows you to access their account without asking for their password directly.
The main concern is security. What happens if/when your database gets hacked? The attackers will have access to all of your user's twitter passwords.
On hte other hand, those sites don't store their users passwords; if they get hacked, twitter can easily disable the oauth credentials, locking out any attackers before they can do harm.
Use OAuth; it's a lot safer.
Just replace YOUR_TWITTER_USERNAME and YOUR_TWITTER_PASSWORD. The code below has to be included in your viewController.m
NSMutableURLRequest *theRequest=[NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL: [NSURL
URLWithString: #”http: //YOUR_TWITTER_USERNAME: YOUR_TWITTER_PASSWORD#twitter. com/
statuses/update. xml”]
cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy
timeoutInterval: 60. 0] ;
[theRequest setHTTPMethod: #”POST”] ;
[theRequest setHTTPBody: [[NSString stringWithFormat: #”status=%#”,
themessage] dataUsingEncoding: NSASCIIStringEncoding] ] ;
NSURLResponse* response;
NSError* error;
NSData* result = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:theRequest
returningResponse: &response error: &error] ;
NSLog( #”%#”, [[[ NSString alloc] initWithData: result
encoding: NSASCIIStringEncoding] autorelease] ) ;

Twitter profile image upload in objective-c

I want to upload an image to my twitter profile using objective-c. I saw in the twitter API that I need to send a HTML post to http://twitter.com/account/update_profile_image.format and send the picture as a parameter. I am done with the authentication. I am stuck with the uploading. Maybe somebody can help me with sending the picture as a parameter?
You should be using NSURLRequests and NSURLConnection to perform the API requests. If this is true, all you need to do is create an NSMutableURLRequest, set it's URL to the Twitter image upload API URL, set the method to POST.
Then you'll need to create an NSData object to represent your image, which you can do using
NSData *myImageData = [[NSData alloc] initWithData:[myImage CGImage]];
I don't know what the parameter name is for Twitter's upload API, so for arguments sake, lets call it "image". The next thing you need to do is set the image data as the request's body for the "image" parameter, like this
NSString *bodyString = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"image=%#", [[[NSString alloc] initWithData:myImageData encoding:NSStringUTF8Encoding] autorelease]];
[myRequest setBody:bodyString];
Then you can just start your NSURLConnection with the request and it should upload.
If you’ve managed to get started, then this post on CocoaDev should help you set the uploading up. There’s a sample linked at the top too.
I recommend using ASIHTTPRequest
What is ASIHTTPRequest?
ASIHTTPRequest is an easy to use wrapper around the CFNetwork API that makes some of the more tedious aspects of communicating with web servers easier. It is written in Objective-C and works in both Mac OS X and iPhone applications.
It is suitable performing basic HTTP requests and interacting with REST-based services (GET / POST / PUT / DELETE). The included ASIFormDataRequest subclass makes it easy to submit POST data and files using multipart/form-data.
See this blog post for an example
Somthing like this
// See http://groups.google.com/group/twitter-development-talk/browse_thread/thread/df7102654c3077be/163abfbdcd24b8bf
NSString *postUrl = #"http://api.twitter.com/1/account/update_profile_image.json";
ASIFormDataRequest *req = [[ASIFormDataRequest alloc] initWithURL:[NSURL
URLWithString:postUrl]];
[req addRequestHeader:#"Authorization" value:[oAuth oAuthHeaderForMethod:#"POST"
andUrl:postUrl andParams:nil]];
[req setData:UIImageJPEGRepresentation(imageView.image, 0.8)
withFileName:#"myProfileImage.jpg"
andContentType:#"image/jpeg" forKey:#"image"];
[req startSynchronous];
NSLog(#"Got HTTP status code from Twitter after posting profile image: %d", [req
responseStatusCode]);
NSLog(#"Response string: %#", [req responseString]);
[req release];

Can I log in to my site from my iPhone app?

I'm trying to make a log in or sign up feature for my web site in my iPhone app. My website is a content management system, and like any other CMS, it has log in and registration features. It also has permmissions, dependent on the user account. I think I would have to use UIWebView for this.
Are there any examples or tutorials I can examine?
Check out the documentation for NSURLRequest (and NSMutableURLRequest): you can use it to make a POST request to your login and registration pages, just like a web browser. You can write the form UI in Cocoa/Objective-C and then send the data to the server.
As far as displaying the result to the user, you'll have to figure out a way to either parse the returned HTML (bad idea) or modify your CMS to return JSON or XML to iPhone requests (better idea).
Edit: Here's some sample code, taken from an app I'm working on (it submits data to Last.fm using POST):
NSURL *url = [NSURL URLWithString:#"http://example.com/"];
NSString *str = #"This is my example data!";
// everything below here is directly from my app:
NSMutableURLRequest *request = [NSMutableURLRequest requestWithURL:url];
[request setHTTPMethod:#"POST"];
[request setHTTPBody:[str dataUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]];
[request setValue:kLastFMClientUserAgent forHTTPHeaderField:#"User-Agent"];
[request setCachePolicy:NSURLRequestReloadIgnoringLocalAndRemoteCacheData];
[request setHTTPShouldHandleCookies:NO];
*connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request
delegate:self
startImmediately:YES];
