Switch Case in T-SQL In where Clause - tsql

Hello Experts i have A Sp , which Contains lot of if/else Condition
Please help me how to use Switch Case in T-SQL In where Clause.
here is my Query
if (#Form ='page.aspx')
begin
select
DT.Column,DST.Column1,
DST.Code from Table DT
join Table2 DST
on DT.ID= DST.ID
where
DT.code = 'XX1'
and DT.CDID = #cdid
end
if (#Form ='Page2.aspx')
begin
select
DT.Column,DST.Column1,
DST.Code from Table DT
join Table2 DST
on DT.ID= DST.ID
where
DT.code = 'XX2'
and DT.CDID = #cdid
end
Please Help me, Any pointer or suggestion would be really helpful thanks

For this particular query you could write
select
DT.Column,DST.Column1,
DST.Code from Table DT
join Table2 DST
on DT.ID= DST.ID
where
DT.code = case #Form when 'page.aspx' then 'XX1' else 'XX2' end
and DT.CDID = #cdid

declare #dtCode varchar(255)
select #dtCode =
CASE #Form
WHEN 'page.aspx' then 'XX1'
WHEN 'page2.aspx' then 'XX2'
ELSE 'NoIdea'
END
select
DT.Column,DST.Column1,
DST.Code from Table DT
join Table2 DST
on DT.ID= DST.ID
where
DT.code = #dtCode
and DT.CDID = #cdid
Note: I have written this with help of notepad & not used Query Analyzer to check for any syntax errror. But, I hope you get the idea (to not repeat the SQL statements when the only thing that changes is the value of dtCode).

How to correctly use the querybuilder in order to do a subselect?

I would like to do a subselect in order to do the following postgresql query with the querybuilder:
SELECT i.* FROM internship i
WHERE EXISTS (SELECT iw.*
FROM internship_weeks iw
WHERE i.id = iw.internship)
Does anyone have an idea how to get the same result with queryBuilder? or maybe with DQL?
Thanks for the help !
As example, only for demonstrate HOW-TO use a subquery select statement inside a select statement, suppose we what to find all user that not yet have compile the address (no records exists in the address table):
// get an ExpressionBuilder instance, so that you
$expr = $this->_em->getExpressionBuilder();
// create a subquery
$sub = $this->_em->createQueryBuilder()
->select('iw')
->from(IntershipWeek::class, 'iw')
->where('i.id = iw.intership');
$qb = $this->_em->createQueryBuilder()
->select('i')
->from(Intership::class, 'u')
->where($expr->exists($sub->getDQL()));
return $qb->getQuery()->getResult();
Hope this help

PostgreSQL subquery split rows (error is more than one row returned by a subquery used as an expression)

this is my first post on stackoverflow so please be gentle. I have researched this problem and came up with many varied solutions...all of which seem to be just off from what I need. I have a postgresql subquery in a SELECT statement that returns multiple rows, which I know is obviously not ideal/allowed/sensible/etc.... However, this is the case for my current problem and I need to be able to take those multiple returned rows and apply them to every previous corresponding record row that they originally came out of.
Current Query:
SELECT cohead_number "Sales Order#",
cohead_custponumber "Purchase Order#",
item_number "Part Number",
item_descrip1 "Part Description",
CAST(shipitem_qty AS integer) "Item Quantity",
getPacklistItemLotSerial(shiphead_id, coitem_id) AS "LotNumbers" --this is the duplicating row subquery that I need listed in separate rows without changing other respective columns--
FROM cohead
LEFT JOIN coitem
ON coitem_cohead_id = cohead_id
LEFT JOIN shipitem
ON coitem_id = shipitem_orderitem_id
LEFT JOIN itemsite
ON coitem_itemsite_id = itemsite_id
LEFT JOIN item
ON itemsite_item_id = item_id
LEFT JOIN shiphead
ON shiphead_order_id = cohead_id
WHERE cohead_number = '79464' --this is just to test with one sales order instead of all (sales order being the input for the query)--
Results:
LINK: Results of above query here
What I Have Tried
Now, this line lets me split the column results via the delimiter ',' but I can't figure out how to get the results from this back into my original query's results:
(SELECT lot from regexp_split_to_table(getPacklistItemLotSerial(shiphead_id, coitem_id),', ') AS lot)
Results:
Here I input the shiphead_id and coitem_id for the example sales order so it can show you the resulting split column into rows.
SELECT lot from regexp_split_to_table(getPacklistItemLotSerial(22082, 50351),', ') AS lot
LINK: Results of Example
Please help walk me through what I need to do to achieve this. I imaging we need to declare some things and maybe join 2 tables in a more complex query...I don't really know. Thank you for any help you can offer.

DB2 Query : insert data in history table if not exists already

I have History table and transaction table.....and reference table...
If status in reference table is CLOSE then take those record verify in History table if not there insert from transaction table..... wiring query like this .... checking better one... please advice.. this query can be used for huge data ?
INSERT INTO LIB1.HIST_TBL
( SELECT R.ACCT, R.STATUS, R.DATE FROM
LIB2.HIST_TBL R JOIN LIB1.REF_TBL C
ON R.ACCT = C.ACCT WHERE C.STATUS = '5'
AND R.ACCT NOT IN
(SELECT ACTNO FROM LIB1.HIST_TBL)) ;
If you're on a current release of DB2 for i, take a look at the MERGE statement
MERGE INTO hist_tbl H
USING (SELECT * FROM ref_tbl R
WHERE r.status = 'S')
ON h.actno = r.actno
WHEN NOT MATCHED THEN
INSERT (actno,histcol2, histcol3) VALUES (r.actno,r.refcol2,r.refcol3)
--if needed
WHEN MATCHED
UPDATE SET (actno,histcol2, histcol3) = (r.actno,r.refcol2,r.refcol3)

TSQL CTE Error: Incorrect syntax near ')'

I am developing a TSQL stored proc using SSMS 2008 and am receiving the above error while generating a CTE. I want to add logic to this SP to return every day, not just the days with data. How do I do this? Here is my SP so far:
ALTER Proc [dbo].[rpt_rd_CensusWithChart]
#program uniqueidentifier = NULL,
#office uniqueidentifier = NULL
AS
DECLARE #a_date datetime
SET #a_date = case when MONTH(GETDATE()) >= 7 THEN '7/1/' + CAST(YEAR(GETDATE()) AS VARCHAR(30))
ELSE '7/1/' + CAST(YEAR(GETDATE())-1 AS VARCHAR(30)) END
if exists (
select * from tempdb.dbo.sysobjects o where o.xtype in ('U') and o.id = object_id(N'tempdb..#ENROLLEES')
) DROP TABLE #ENROLLEES;
if exists (
select * from tempdb.dbo.sysobjects o where o.xtype in ('U') and o.id = object_id(N'tempdb..#DISCHARGES')
) DROP TABLE #DISCHARGES;
declare #sum_enrollment int
set #sum_enrollment =
(select sum(1)
from enrollment_view A
join enrollment_info_expanded_view C on A.enrollment_id = C.enroll_el_id
where
(#office is NULL OR A.group_profile_id = #office)
AND (#program is NULL OR A.program_info_id = #program)
and (C.pe_end_date IS NULL OR C.pe_end_date > #a_date)
AND C.pe_start_date IS NOT NULL and C.pe_start_date < #a_date)
select
A.program_info_id as [Program code],
A.[program_name],
A.profile_name as Facility,
A.group_profile_id as Facility_code,
A.people_id,
1 as enrollment_id,
C.pe_start_date,
C.pe_end_date,
LEFT(datename(month,(C.pe_start_date)),3) as a_month,
day(C.pe_start_date) as a_day,
#sum_enrollment as sum_enrollment
into #ENROLLEES
from enrollment_view A
join enrollment_info_expanded_view C on A.enrollment_id = C.enroll_el_id
where
(#office is NULL OR A.group_profile_id = #office)
AND (#program is NULL OR A.program_info_id = #program)
and (C.pe_end_date IS NULL OR C.pe_end_date > #a_date)
AND C.pe_start_date IS NOT NULL and C.pe_start_date >= #a_date
;WITH #ENROLLEES AS (
SELECT '7/1/11' AS dt
UNION ALL
SELECT DATEADD(d, 1, pe_start_date) as dt
FROM #ENROLLEES s
WHERE DATEADD(d, 1, pe_start_date) <= '12/1/11')
The most obvious issue (and probably the one that causes the error message too) is the absence of the actual statement to which the last CTE is supposed to pertain. I presume it should be a SELECT statement, one that would combine the result set of the CTE with the data from the #ENROLLEES table.
And that's where another issue emerges.
You see, apart from the fact that a name that starts with a single # is hardly advisable for anything that is not a local temporary table (a CTE is not a table indeed), you've also chosen for your CTE a particular name that already belongs to an existing table (more precisely, to the already mentioned #ENROLLEES temporary table), and the one you are going to pull data from too. You should definitely not use an existing table's name for a CTE, or you will not be able to join it with the CTE due to the name conflict.
It also appears that, based on its code, the last CTE represents an unfinished implementation of the logic you say you want to add to the SP. I can suggest some idea, but before I go on I'd like you to realise that there are actually two different requests in your post. One is about finding the cause of the error message, the other is about code for a new logic. Generally you are probably better off separating such requests into distinct questions, and so you might be in this case as well.
Anyway, here's my suggestion:
build a complete list of dates you want to be accounted for in the result set (that's what the CTE will be used for);
left-join that list with the #ENROLLEES table to pick data for the existing dates and some defaults or NULLs for the non-existing ones.
It might be implemented like this:
… /* all your code up until the last WITH */
;
WITH cte AS (
SELECT CAST('7/1/11' AS date) AS dt
UNION ALL
SELECT DATEADD(d, 1, dt) as dt
FROM cte
WHERE dt < '12/1/11'
)
SELECT
cte.dt,
tmp.[Program code],
tmp.[program_name],
… /* other columns as necessary; you might also consider
enveloping some or all of the "tmp" columns in ISNULLs,
like in
ISNULL(tmp.[Program code], '(none)') AS [Program code]
to provide default values for absent data */
FROM cte
LEFT JOIN #ENROLLEES tmp ON cte.dt = tmp.pe_start_date
;

tsql : Access query to TSQL union update conversion correct?

I have a query in access which i need to convert to a stored proc in sql server 2005.
the query in access is as follows:
UPDATE
tblitem,
tblFileSignature
SET
tblitem.strFileProcesstype = [tblFileSignature].[STRFILEPROCESSTYPE], tblitem.strFileSignatureType = [tblFileSignature].[strfilesignaturetype]
WHERE
(((tblitem.strFileSignatureType) Is Null) AND
((tblitem.strFileExclude)="n") AND
((InStr([tblitem].[strfilesignature],[tblFileSignature].[strsignature]))=1) AND ((tblitem.uidItemType)=1 Or (tblitem.uidItemType)=5) AND
((tblitem.uidCollection)=[forms]![frmSetup]![txtInputCol]) AND ((tblitem.strFileSignature) Not Like "d0c*") AND
((tblFileSignature.strFileProcessType) Not Like "ZIP"));
in tsql.. would this be the same?
update tblItem
set
i.strFileProcesstype = f.strFileProcesstype,
i.strFileSignatureType = f.strfilesignaturetype
from tblItem as I UNION tblFileSignature as F
WHERE (((i.strFileSignatureType) Is Null) AND
((i.strFileExclude)="n") AND
((i.[strfilesignature] like F.strsignature)) AND
((i.uidItemType)=1 Or
(i.uidItemType)=5) AND
((i.uidCollection)=#inputcolumn AND
((i.strFileSignature) Not Like 'd0c%') AND
((F.strFileProcessType) Not Like 'ZIP'));
thanks in advance
UPDATE:
so i'm going with the following. if i uncomment the declare and select clause and just execute from the declare down, it runs, if i comment the declare and select parts, it says error near ';'.
UPDATE I
SET
I.strFileProcesstype = F.STRFILEPROCESSTYPE,
I.strFileSignatureType = F.strfilesignaturetype
--declare #uidcollectionID int
--select I.strFileSignatureType
from
tblItem I
inner join tblFileSignature F
on
I.strfilesignature = left(F.strsignature,len(I.strfilesignature))
WHERE I.strFileSignatureType Is Null
AND I.strFileExclude='n'
AND I.uidItemType in (1,5)
AND I.uidCollection = #uidCollectionID
AND left(I.strFileSignature,3) <> 'd0c'
AND F.strFileProcessType <> 'ZIP';
any ideas?
You should change the
Double Quotes to Single Quotes
* to %
Replace the InStr with LIKE
Other than that, it looks fine to me.
No, you'd use a JOIN, not a UNION.
You can either make it a CROSS JOIN, and continue to apply the join conditions in the WHERE clause, or you can make it an inner join:
from tblItem as I INNER JOIN tblFileSignature as F
ON ((InStr(i.[strfilesignature],F.[strsignature]))=1)
And remove that condition from the WHERE clause (Lieven's answer also applies).
This should be close to what you need. May need to work on the join condition, but I think my conversion from INSTR will do it.
UPDATE i
SET strFileProcesstype = fs.STRFILEPROCESSTYPE,
strFileSignatureType = fs.strfilesignaturetype
FROM tblitem i
INNER JOIN tblFileSignature fs
ON i.strfilesignature = LEFT(fs.strsignature, LEN(i.strfilesignature))
WHERE i.strFileSignatureType IS Null
AND i.strFileExclude='n'
AND i.uidItemType IN (1,5)
AND i.uidCollection = #inputcolumn
AND LEFT(i.strFileSignature,3) <> 'd0c'
AND fs.strFileProcessType <> 'ZIP';
