removeFromSuperview only removes view from last cell - iphone

I have a UITableView set up with a custom delete button which consists of a UIButton (btnDel) added as a subview to the UITableView's cells. The delete button is added as a subview when my edit button is pressed. This works well but when I try to remove the subview using:
[btnDel removeFromSuperview];
It only removes the button from the last cell and the other cells still retain the now removed button. I've tried this in many different ways and still can't figure it out. I've tried using functions such as turning the opacity of the button to 0 or setting Hidden to YES, but like the removeFromSuperview, it only effects the button in the last cell with the others staying the same.
Any help is greatly appreciated and if anymore of my code is needed let me know.

If you don't keep references you can't tell which button belongs to which cell.
You might want to subclass UITableViewCell so that your cells have a property which points to the button (assign the button to the property right after instantiating the button). You could then use this property to access (enable, disable...) the buttons later on.

Swift 3 How to set different background color when selected cell in collectionView

I have two Button and one collectionView in viewcontroller. When I selected Button one and selected one of cell, it looks like this:
and when I selected Button two it looks like this:
So my problem is when I selected back Button one and the collectionView, it should be like the first image.
What should I do so I can get that? Any ideas? thanks
I think you should custom your CollectionViewCell and add mark attribute in that Cell.
When you tap button one that cell. Set value of attribute mark = true.
When you tap button one again you just need to test mark attribute to set cell's background color
to refresh CollectionView (update layout). use
collectionView.collectionViewLayout.invalidateLayout()
Without really seeing any code, I would assume you need to set the background color of cell in viewDidAppear and not viewDidLoad. The reason why is because viewDidLoad only gets called once and if you are hitting the Back Button from the navigation controller and its not setting the color as intended that would be the first step to see if it works like you need.

UIButton and UILabel unable to be removed from view

I have two UIButtons that I added to my view
[self.view addSubview:button1];
[self.view addSubview:button2];
These buttons have a selector and in the selector is a menu where the user can choose an option and this option can vary in string size for the button so I decided to remove the buttons from the view and reload them again with different string size and button size. I have am getting the information from an API call so there is where I set the buttons up to my view. I tried to do this:
[button1 removeFromSuperview];
Also tried:
[self.button1 removeFromSuperView];
Now, for the UILabel I have it inside a table view cell because the string is long and covers my detailTextLabel. I am using UITableViewCellStyleValue1 for the cells. I have tried to use NSLineBreakByWordWrapping and set the numberOfLines to 0 as well as 5 so I then decided to add the UILabel inside the table view cell so I can control how far the string goes and I can also wrap that around. Since the cell was writing over and over the label every time the cell with the table view was hidden, I decided to create the label inside the if(cell == nil) statement.Like the button, this label also gets refreshed when the buttons are pressed and a menu option is chosen so I have to remove it from the view, the same way i did the buttons. For some reason it isn't working. Anyone have any thoughts/ideas/suggestions?
I also NSLog(#"%#",[button1 superview]) after I removed it to make sure that the button was indeed (null) as well as the label, and they do show up on the terminal as null but the buttons overlap each other, in fact you can still click the old button and you can see it underneath the new button. Same goes with the label. If you need any code let me know, this problem is frustrating me so much!
Also, I am on iOS7 and for some reason my device isn't displaying the status bar. I've tried to change it inside the info.plist -> status bar style. I've tried the 3 options it has but none of them seem to work. I checked all my xib files and checked for any hidden keywords in my .m files. Thanks in advance.
Since you mentioned the button was making an API call I am guessing you may be threading that section of code. If that's the case then the reason its not working is likely because you are not allowed to update the UI in a background thread.
Try replacing:
[button1 removeFromSuperview];
with this:
[button1 performSelectorOnMainThread:#selector(removeFromSuperview) withObject:nil waitUntilDone:NO];
I deeply suggest using storyboards, they make working with the UI a lot easier! They also allow you to play with constraints to see how your UI elements react to longer text or to the screen rotating, etc...

How do I tell the difference between the user tapping my table view cell and the user tapping a subview contained within the cell?

One of my view controllers contains a UITableView with custom UITableViewCell's. My custom UITableView cell contains a UIImageView subview that represents a tappable icon. When the user taps anywhere on the custom cell, except the icon subview, I want my didSelectRowAtIndexPath method to be called like normal. But when my icon subview gets tapped, I want a different method to get called, but I can't figure out how to do this. Do I have capture the touch position in the touchesDidBegin method and manually check if the user tapped the icon? That just feels so hacky. Other, cleaner ideas?

Simply add a tapGestureRecognizer to the UIImageView in your cell

custom uitablviewcell does not call didSelectRowAtIndexPath in the controller

I have a custom UITableViewCell completely written in code (no IB), it has an accessory button that simply calls didSelectRowAtIndexPath on the table view, and it works correctly and the method is called without problems.
However, when I tap on the cell itself (not on the accessory view) nothing being called, why ?
EDIT: the code is huge to put here ... however, the custom cell contains a ton of labels, couple images and scroll view ...
This is a shot in the dark, but if each cell has many different objects on it (i.e. images, labels, etc) then it may not be working because those objects are what the user is hitting when they try to click a cell. Does the cell turn blue (indicate selection) at all? If not, try hiding/removing those objects for now and see if it works.
If that is the case, then what you may want to do is create an invisible cell or button that sits on top of the other objects and calls didSelectRowAtIndexPath from behind the scenes.
This should solve your problem:
Raise selection event (didSelectRowAtIndexPath) when subview of UITableViewCell is tapped
Try setting your view's userInteractionEnabled property to NO.
This will make it ignore all touch events, and then the views under it will be able to catch these events. - Felipe Sabino
I'd partially answer my question: the wide scroll view is preventing the cell from calling didSelectRowAtIndexPath, removing the scrollView will solve the problem, however, I want to call this method with the existence of the scrollView ... anyone got ideas would be highly appreciated ...

Best way to avoid memory leaks for Multiple Buttons in UITableViewCell

I've got an array of buttons in a UITableViewCell.
I populated them all through the cellForRowAtIndexPath method, but my tableview gets sluggish even though I have released everything.
Should I be using a custom UITableViewCell to populate?
Any suggestions on how to make this as smooth as possible for the user would be great.

You could create a custom cell / custom view pair for this specific cell, where you can draw all yours buttons in drawRect:. However, this would essentially draw all your buttons as an image so you wouldn't be able to tap them, but I guess you can always create a UITapGestureRecognizer to your cell (you'd still have to figure out which button was pressed by examining x,y values).
Still, I don't see any point in adding your tag buttons inside a UITableViewCell. You could come up for an alternate design in your UI, i.e. a UIView presented on top of the table, or a modal controller maybe.
