I need to provide some help for my app. I'm going to have some info buttons on some screens.
Initially I'd like them to be directed to the exact help page, but I'd like them then to be able to navigate to other pages in the help system.
What should I use, I'm looking for something quick to develop and quick to modify.
I'm thinking local html pages perhaps ?
Any examples / advice
I think the best way to do this is using a UIWebView to load HTML pages from your server. This way the user doesn't leave you app and the information can be updated or change as you may need.

I am trying to get specific content on a confluence cloud wiki to display content based on a specific user. The scenario here is that there are links on a page but only 1 should display, the one that displays is based on whom ever is logged in.
I have been told how a macro is the way forward, but I have read the documentation and I am at a loss. I do not understand what I have to do or how to write a confluence macro. could someone help me out with either an example or some links? I have searched like crazy, but maybe i am not asking the right questions but hopfully you can all help me out?
There's a plugin for this:
https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/net.customware.confluence.plugin.visibility
But I'm not sure how thoroughly it hides the content. It might still be visible if users view the page source. If you're trying to hide content which needs to be really protected, you'll probably need to do something else.
Depending on how many users are going to be using the page, you could also just make separate spaces for them, add the permissions to those spaces, and then use a page-include on your "main" page to display the content. If they don't have access it shouldn't show up. You might experience some formatting issues with that solution, however.
Finally, you could grab the username with jquery and display stuff based on that. This solution will be pretty easy if you are familiar with javascript/jquery.
Edit: Here are some helpful resources on how to use javascript and jquery within confluence:

I am going insane with this. It used to just work! I'm a programmer but not up to date with all this modern languages stuff and have no desire to learn it - too darn old, just want an easy life.
Okay, so here's the thing... I used to have these "like boxes" on my websites. Then they stopped working. I looked in the dev docs and fixed the absolute URL and they worked ok on IE browsers but not on Chrome.
It looks like I need an App Id.
So I created an App Id on a test website - I have no idea what it is or why I need one. All I want to do is show on the website it has n likes and the button for Facebook lovers to like it too.
But do I need to create an App Id for every single clients website? How do other CMS systems handle it? My sites are not html 5 - I'd be happy with just an iframe solution.
I'm not a fan of Facebook at all, and this is driving me further away. I'm willing to be dragged back but all I see is lots of overly complex code to achieve nothing really useful.
You can do whatever you want with your app ID, but if you use the same one for all your sites, you won't be able to separate those in your "Insights"

I started looking into OwnCloud app development to add some capabilities I would like to my server. To me it seems like Apps can't modify anything like the Login page or User Management page. Is this the case?
I want to build a user registration app and would love to integrate it into the user management page (if not and it has to exist as its own app page not a big deal). The one big problem I see so far is not being able to add a "Register" link to the login page. I could just go in and add it to the source manually, but I would like to keep the App self contained so others can use it too.
If this is not possible to do in an App I may just need to modify the core application and then see if they will accept my feature addition in a pull request.
Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this for me. I don't want to waste my time trying to figure out how to do it with an App on the platform if it wont be doable.
After a lot of digging around I did figure out a way to do this.
In the App's app.php file, you can force a script to be loaded if the plugin is enabled:
$api->addScript('script_name'); // without .js
In that script jQuery can be used to add the elements to the page where you need them.
This was a good solution for me since I only needed to add a single button to the login page. I can see this being a bad idea if you want to make vast modifications. At that point you might as well just create a separate page that you have full control over.
I want to navigate to another page in my application. I don't want the page to reload(i.e.. application should be a single URL application).
I know only one way to accomplish this by changing the proper div attached in the RootPanel by whatever data I want to display. But I fell that might get cumbersome if there are many navigations(I haven't tried it though :P).
Is there any other way to accomplish this or make the above said approach better?
Thanks in advance.
I guess you need GWT Development with Activities and Places
Well ,its time to have a look on MVP
With that you can do
History.newItem(tokenOfYourPresenterScreen);
A nice single EntryPoint demo app is here : (BrowserHistoryExample.java)

I added the below to the example to demonstrate links.
vertPanel.add(new Label("Access history via Hyperlinks"));
vertPanel.add(new Hyperlink("External Page 0","page0"));
vertPanel.add(new Hyperlink("External Page 1","page1"));
vertPanel.add(new Hyperlink("External Page 2","page2"));
I'm looking to create a small reference app. It has a UItabBar and 4 views that each load a UITableView which can be drilled down to display, essentially a page of information and pictures, like a book.
If I want to make the page a little more stylised than just using labels and image views, the common consensus seems to be to create HTML pages and load them in a web view.
Being new to this, please could someone give me some direction on where to even begin with this? As I understand it, I essentially need to develop a web page with a text editor, and then what? Actualy upload online and create a public website? It's a little confusing, and as I'm not a developer, a little disheartening to think I'll now have to learn HTML as well as Obj-C to create a simple app.
I'm sure there are some great tools or alternatives out there and if someone could recommend such avenues I'd be incredibly grateful.
Kind regards,
Ryan
If you want to display HTML pages in a UIWebView you can store them in your bundle and display them from there (so no need to put the pages online). It is best though to stick with the UI controls that Apple provides you with. If you need more customization try subclassing some of the standard controls.
If you customize your UI too much it will just confuse the user and degrade their experience.
