Using Joomla 1.5 based site, I am experiencing a problem while making JAPopup plugin work with Template 29042 from template-help.com - plugins

JAPopup is a handy plugin for Joomla to render Youtube videos in a Modal Window so user cannot click on multiple Youtube videos at the same time. The website URL is www.multicorewareinc.com/29042 (hast not gone live yet!). If I use a standard Joomla template such as JA_Parity or rhuk_mllkyway, JAPopup plugin works fine. But instead if I use Template 29042 from template-help.com, JAPopup hangs up. I compared the index.php files of a working template (such as rhuk_milkyway) and Template 29042 and as far as I can tell, 29042 uses Javascript extensively and there appears to be an issue when it comes to launching JAPopup (which too is based on Javascript). I put print statements in all the JAPopup modules and verified that the code was getting executed in either templates. So I am at a loss as to why JAPopup won't execute. If anyone has a suggestion, I would be grateful. Once I fix this, I plan on publishing the problem and the fix on my web-site, www.sreeiyer.com.

What does Firebug say? It's obviously a jscript conflict so start narrowing down the options - does the template use jQuery or another library? Does JAPopup use a library? You can also remove the scripting from the template and start adding it back until the error comes back, then you know what needs to be rewritten.

Lit not working, not giving back anything from the custom web component

I'm trying to learn how to use lit as a dev tool for making web components and I'm having issues with making it run on my system.
In the documentation it states that you just need to run the command "npm i lit" on the folder of your project and after being successfully installed it should be running.
I did the "simple greeting" test also available on the documentation but it's returning me a blank page. I even copy-pasted both ts and html. Still blank page.
on my html, if I drill something into it, it shows on the page, so I know it's something regarding the custom web component (named simple-greeting).
I already did a course on native web components and I understand how it works, but I never worked with lit.
Isn't it just to import the necessary things from the respective library (like html, css, LitElement) and use it in TS?
Am I missing something? I am really confused and can't find anything online.
Thanks in advance.
It seems I forgot to run the web server. Still a long way to go, I guess.

Perl: Parsing AJAX loaded content

This is an age-old question regarding perl web scrapers after Web 2.0; they simply cannot parse dynamically loaded pages because they need some sort of JavaScript engine in order to render the page. This issue is much more involved than simply rendering JavaScript, since Perl would also have to be able to manage and maintain the DOM.
It seems WWW::Selenium and WWW::Mechanize::Firefox is able to accomplish this by utilizing FireFox (or other browsers) to do the rendering for it. However, V8 has become so popular (as seen with Node.js), so I'm curious if there are any new libraries that utilize it or there has since been a browser-independent solution, which I'm not aware.
I might usually consider this a closable question, but with so few results when Googling and on Stack Overflow, there shouldn't be too many solutions (if any).

You mentioned Selenium but there is the later version Selenium::Remote::Driver which works with a selenium 2.0 hub.
I see you can also use it without a Selenium hub
Without Standalone Server ( I haven't used this part)
As of v0.25, it's possible to use this module without a standalone
server - that is, you would not need the JRE or the JDK to run your
Selenium tests. See Selenium::Chrome, Selenium::PhantomJS, and
Selenium::Firefox for details. If you'd like additional browsers
besides these, give us a holler over in Github.
PhantomJS may be of interest as it is a headless browser
This is probably not an answer but it was too long for a comment

Email Editor Similar to Campaign Monitor or Mailchimp's editor?

I looking for either an open source (or otherwise) php script/library/code that will provide me with a similar email composer that Mailchimp and Campaign Monitor have.
I've played around with lots of wysiwyg editors (eg: tinymce, ckeditor) but, they don't work very well for allowing users to compose emails.
Mosaico Editor is the first open source email template builder of this kind (AFAIK).
You can find a free to use deployment (working also as live demo) at http://mosaico.io and you can get sources at https://github.com/voidlabs/mosaico
I choose blocks from a set defined by the "master template", then you fill you contents and change their styles in a WYSIWYG style. If you're on a large window you can also have live preview for the mobile version.
The master template defines what are the blocks, what you can edit and what you can style and it contains any html trick to make it compatible with most clients: this means you can change the editor behaviour a lot by simply writing a new master template.
It is 99% javascript (IE10+, and any other modern browser) and depends on server-side functions only to do "final inlining" and "image upload/resizing"
Next generation tool for building templates without coding
Grapejs official site
GrapesJS is an open-source, multi-purpose, Web Builder Framework which combines different tools and features with the goal to help you (or users of your application) to build HTML templates without any knowledge of coding. It's a perfect solution to replace the common WYSIWYG editors, which are good for content editing but inappropriate for creating HTML structures. You can see it in action with the official demos, but using its API you're able to build your own editors.
I'm in the process of building one but as a designer it is a work in progress! I'd suggest looking at PHP template engines. They have a similar functionality. Most however will use php variables inside the html page instead of tags.
Another oprion is to check out Perch it is officially a CMS, but is really lightweight and might get the job done for you.
Hope that helps even though it is a year after you posted the question...
EDIT: Actually just stumbled across this thread which links to the new CKEditor - looks pretty cool.

SWFObject like setup for Unity

Is there a SWFObject type setup for embedding Unity content and having a fallback HTML content (with a link to install the plugin)?
The JS included with Unity only allows for a button they've created.
Here's the official guide
Basically, for non-IE browsers, you check that the plugin's installed using javascript, and for IE, you use VisualBasic scripting. Their code isn't terribly pretty (all those document.write calls - ugh!) but it's robust.
You can always take their code, clean it up and wrap it in a nicer package. I know I did (but for a client, so I can't give you the code - sorry)

joomla tinymce editor problem

hi i am using joomla 1.5 for my site.
in this i fetched the problem of tinymce editor when i clicked on any article the image button are not shown. when i clicked on edit html source button It showing only “{$lang_theme_code_title}” on the Title bar and all body is blank.
so plz help me to resolved out from this problem.
thanks in advance
You should consider trying the JCE editor instead of trying to debug Tinymce. I'm running JCE error free on over 40 sites. It has a superior image manager, link manager, and code view. It installs easily and is highly configurable. The only caveat is that you should disable the Joomla insert image, page break, and read more buttons as JCE has those built in.

See this thread:

Try adding www. to your domain. Most often this is the problem.
I searched joomla project for vars $lang_theme_code_title... and related... There are not. Looked at Tinymce editor, it has javascript driven language file...
Most likely problem is cause by JavaScript. Try using different browser (firefox or chrome).
I read info on some other forums, some claim that temporarily disabling the antivirus solved the problem. I don't think that this will work, but you can try.
If none of this helps, you will need to give more information. Load firefox with firebug and see the NET tab for JavaScript files and Ajax Requests, most likely you'll find something interesting there (i think 500 Error)
