How to have a store using dialog in ROBLOX - roblox

Using the new "Dialog" feature I want to create a store, how would I do that, like they click on an option and the game gives them the weapon they want.
Yeah so this feature is fairly new, but this is also my first store.

The tree should be like this
Dialog
DialogChoice
UserResponse: What the text shows for the user
ResponseDialog: What the dialog's text becomes when the user clicks the choice
To detect when a user clicks it...
Dialog.DialogChoiceSelected:connect(function(player, dialogChoice)
-- Do stuff
end)
'player' is an actual Player, and 'dialogChoice' is the DialogChoice they clicked on.

Function across multiple view controllers

I am trying to make a function so that I request a 'manager override' where it presents a screen for a manager to enter their password and press an approve button. How should I do this? Will it have to be in multiple functions? Is there a way that I can call one function and it present the information back? Would a completion work for what I need? I have no ideas where to start for this.
My set up is as follows:
A view controller asks for manager approval, then a screen slides up with text boxes and an approve button. I want the approve button to trigger authenticating and dismissing the screen
Assuming you don't want a Framework target (that sounds like overkill for what you want) simply mark the function as "public" and move it outside of any class. I just tried in a sample project and it works.
It looks important - remember to keep it in a file already in the project. (My sample project didn't work with menu option File|Add|New|File.)
Now, if you really want portability, check out how to create a Framework project.

Prevent users from typing and clicking in MS Word Add-in

I am writting a MS Word Add-in, I create a button to run a long time work with text. My work requires that during the time it is excuted, no change can be made by user ( typing, clicking, deleting ...) When this work is completed, user can type and click as usual.
I have used
this.Application.Options.AllowClickAndTypeMouse = false;
However, this doesn't work.
Who can help me!
First, your approach is wrong. The Click and Type is Word functionality and has nothing to do with disabling user Mouse clicks
(For more information about Click and Type refer to here).
Now for your question, here is one approach I would suggest:
If the user is not able to do any action, I would expect an appropriate message, so my idea is to create a modal form by using:
myForm.ShowDialog();
It should do the job and block the active document until it get closed.
I would also add a nice progress bar and "Close" button which you will enable when work has done.

ImgButton : How to tell SmartGWT to not concatene state on the name of file source?

private ImgButton button = new ImgButton();
...
button.setSrc("iconName.jpg");
GWT or SmartGWT, I cannot tell exactly, generate state word to concatene it on the name of file.
Example to clarify :
On focus, iconName.jpg become iconName_Focus.jpg
On mouse down click, iconName.jpg become iconName_Down.jpg
On over, iconName.jpg become iconName_Over.jpg
Because these images are custom images, I want to tell GWT to take a default image when I didn't provide the corresponding image.
For example, when over event is fire and iconName_Over.jpg does not exist then use iconName.jpg.
Use the setShow{State} or setShow{State}Icon methods accordingly. For example for disabling the mouse down state, use setShowDown(Boolean.FALSE). For not showing a different icon when the mouse goes down on the button, use the setShowDownIcon(Boolean.FALSE). The rest of the actions have accordingly named methods you can look up at the ImgButton's javadoc page.

GWT Place objects

I'm new to GWT so this may be a dumb question but I didn't find a good answer to it anywhere.
So, how should I create Place objects in GWT? Should I create them as finals in my ClientFactory and reuse them everywhere?
the Place objects Eclipse generates eat a string token as their parameter what should it be?
My Understanding is the following: I should create final Place objects in my ValueChangeHandler for those pages that are static and reuse them everywhere. Those 'Place's that are relatively dynamic should be created like
new MyCoolPlace("MyCoolPlace" + someRandomNumber)
but isn't it kind of dumb using random numbers each time i need to navigate to a new page? also will the history be cleared of the objects which i created say hours ago?
Currently I have a problem with figuring out how this mechanism works:
I have a form. For, say, adding vegetables to the DB
1. User fills it
2. Submits it
3. Gets to a thank you page
4. Clicks a link in the menu to add a new vegetable
5. Gets to the form but it's already pre-filled with the values user previously entered.
I need the form clean on step 5. But if the user clicks the browser's back button on step 3 I want it to be pre-filled.
Question about final:
I think not. They are lightweight objects and places can have values into them. They are not a limited set of places values (at least if you parametrize them).
Question about form values:
The normal behaviour is when yo go back to -let's say- "vegForm" you obtain the clean view (it's because your URL token is simple vegForm). What happens I think it's you're reusing your view without initializing. Your presenter (or whatever has the UI logic) should obtain the view and call "reset()" "init()" or whatever you want.
If you want to hold your values when you go back you should save them in your place object. It is: field values. And your PlaceTokenizer (the object that transform between URL and Place object) should take care of them. By example: vegForm/potato,green,... (don't remember the standard notation).
The problem is how do you save into the URL the values you entered before clicking Save?
What I'd do is "saving" that state into the URL before saving:
History.newItem("vegForm/potato,green,...", false);
And that will get into the history stack. When I say false it means that the GWT History mechanism should not react to that URL avoiding loading the view again. When your user clicks back she should go back to form(with values). If your user clicks back again the she should go back to form(clean).
By example:
User clicks add veg -> #vegForm
User fills data and pless save
-> #vegForm/value1,value2 (saved in History with false argument)
-> #okPage
User clicks back
-> #vegForm/value1,value2 (form with saved data)
User clicks back
-> #vegForm (form without)
Initialization
Take into account you always must initialize the view.
If you don't have params, to clean it (it can be a reused view)
If you have params, to fill the form with them

are there DOM events for controller presses on the PS3?

I want to develop a site which is easy to use from a Playstation 3 PS3 game console web browser. I thought it would be good to make screen actions on button presses on the console.
I can find no information on how to do this after quite a bit of searching.
Any info or links highly appreciated!
Why not write a function that displays a message for every "keystroke" and you'll see what values they represent:
$(document).keypress(function(event) {
alert(event.which);
});
Then you can use the number you get from this test and create some logic based on that.
Like this perhaps:
if(event.which == 13) {
// display cool menu maybe?
}
From what I've tested so far, the left stick generates mouse events, left pad with arrows generates keyboard events corresponding to arrows, while the right stick generates a mouseevent but unfortunately it does not move the mouse, but rather scrolls the window.
I do not know how to detect in which direction the stick is pushed (unless the cursor actually moved or the background scrolled, in which cases it is quite trivial).
