iPhone mobile homepage: Photo upload as regular file upload - iphone

Something new for me: How can I get a file-upload on my mobile webpage for iphone, to upload a picture (as profile-thumbnail for example)?
Mabye there is any framework or library which can do this?
Thx for help ;)

There is no interface for uploading content in Mobile Safari. The best workaround I've seen is to have people email files to an address, and then you have some cron jobs that extract uploads from the email.
I saw this recently on the site My Slow Low. One of the guys who built it did a write-up on extracting IMAP email attachments using php, which could be a good starting point for you.

Picup is a native iPhone Application that facilitates photo uploads to the web. Since file-upload form fields don't work in Mobile Safari, a webapp can instruct Picup to choose and upload a photo. Once the upload is complete, Picup returns control to the webapp with information about the upload.

How to detect the device when clicking the link from the mail

Our requirement is to send an email to user which will be having our site link. Since site can be opened in mobile as well, when user clicks the link from the email it should be redirected to mobile application site if the device is mobile or else desktop site.
Currently we are Using C# to send email. Since Javascript is not supported in HTML body of email, We are looking for some other approach. Can anyone please suggest, how to detect the device and redirect to the link from email appropriately.
Thanks.
You don't need anything in the email - Instead use media queries in your website to adjust the result to the screen size. You can either have a responsive site, or use javascript on your main site to reroute them to the mobile version of your website if needed.
There is no real way to do this in email. Technically you could put media queries in your email to show or hide one link or another, but media queries are not 100% supported in email, so you are better off using them on your website.

Is there a way to upload the contents of a URL to Dropbox using their API?

I'm building a client/server video app. The video lives on the server, typically. If I want to allow app users to copy videos to their Dropbox, is there any way to do that using the Dropbox API on the app other than downloading the content to the app and re-uploading it to Dropbox? Reading their API, it seems like they only have file upload, not upload from a URL. Is there any way?
Is the Saver an option for you? That takes a URL and presents the user with UI to choose a location within Dropbox, after which the file will be saved to that location.
It's as simple as including a <script> tag and then adding class="dropbox-saver" to what would otherwise be a normal download hyperlink.

Detecting installed apps on iPhone with javascript or url

I am building a HTML5 based mobile web app for iPhone. I need to check whether user has specific application that I suggest. I heard that each iPhone application has unique URL scheme to detect their app indentity.
Therefore, I've read this article to get an idea.
Is it possible to register a http+domain-based URL Scheme for iPhone apps, like YouTube and Maps?
However, this is not perfect answer to make what I am trying to make.
here is what might happen
User clicks a recommendation app on mobile web browser.
Check with application iTunes URL and URL scheme.
If the user has the installed application, it returns 'installed'
==> In this case, the screen returns back to mobile browser.
If the user does not have the installed application, it returns 'uninstalled'
==> In this case, the screen moves to App Store.
I am running mobile web app with PHP language.
Thank you.
this is not possible I'm afraid. To be honest I'm glad, as there are real privacy concerns if any old web page can detect which apps I have installed.
That's definitely not a good thing!
UPDATE: If you're happy to go native, this library will do what you want.. http://www.cocoacontrols.com/platforms/ios/controls/ihasapp
If you know that a url scheme for the app exists then you can open it via a web link like this, "myapp://". With this there are some round about ways you can effectively check if a certain app exists.

Access Camera through iPhone Web App

I understand that it is not quite possible to access webcam through HTML. So how about on the iPhone? Is it possible?
Starting with iOS6, You are able to access the Camera, and Photos using the<input type="file" /> input
Take a look at: http://code.google.com/p/iphone-photo-picker/
This was done by the NextStop guys, and is open sourced under MIT license. It basically uses an URL scheme to allow you to redirect a web user to a tiny native app long enough to take the picture, and then back to your web app to continue their experience.
I haven't used it yet, but I saw them demo it in a webcast and plan on using it myself when we get our mobile site done enough to incorporate it.
No. You can access the phone through the native API, but not via a web app.

ASP.net 3.5 site needs streaming video

I maintain an ASP.net 3.5 website for a client who is now wanting to include short informational videos inline on certain pages of his site. He is hosted with Network Solutions on a shared account. I setup video services on his account and have been provided with an IP address to reference in an tag. However, the video needs to play upon page load, rather than play when user clicks a link to it.
Can anyone suggest a plugin or Javascript library that will allow videos to be played upon page load? All video files will be saved in .wmv format.
Thanks,
Sid
SilverLight should be able to do that.
