What i am doing, i downloded a code for calender now i want to show images on its tiles(for date).

In else condition i want to show images on the tile so for that i am converting image objects in the CGImageRef.

The file-path of the image seems to problematic. You can retrieve the correct path with the NSBundle-methods. Also you're leaking a lot of memory, because you don't release your images and data-providers. To make a long story short, try this:
[[UIImage imageNamed:#"left-arrow.png"] drawInRect:...]
or even simpler:
[[UIImage imageNamed:#"left-arrow.png"] drawAtPoint:...]

drawRect at double the size

If I override drawRect in order to display an image and place a dinamically-generated overlay on it (see code), whenever I scale up the image it is drawn in a very blurry way as the result of the scaling.
The image is composed of two pieces, an image drawn from a png (whose original size is 2x the wanted one, so it should not give problems when scaled, but it does) and the other is dinamically generated according to the rect size, so it should also adapt to the current rect size, but it doesn't.
Any help?

The problem is that you are drawing overlayMasked as a CGImage with CGContextDrawImage, which knows nothing of scale. Either you will have to double the size yourself manually if you're in a double-scale situation, or you should use UIImage, which knows about scale.

How can I draw an image?

I'm programming on objective-c. I have an image a line (see below) (1 x 30) pixels.
How can I get a UIImage (50 x 30) (see below) from this line?
Create a CGBitmapContext with size of 50 * 30 than you can just draw that image on the context by using CGContextDrawImage.
After that use CGBitmapContextCreateImage and [UIImage imageWithCGImage:] to create the UIImage

if your line has simple color, try this lazy method:

You can use +[UIColor colorWithPatternImage] in iOS:

It works better with seamless patterns. For OSX you can use +[NSColor colorWithPatternImage] method.
If you just want to draw the image, you might want to try UIImage's drawInRect: method.
You'd typically want to call this from your custom UIView's drawRect:.

Crop circular or elliptical image from original UIImage

I am working on openCV for detecting the face .I want face to get cropped once its detected.Till now I got the face and have marked the rect/ellipse around it on iPhone.

There are a pile of blend modes to choose from, a few of which are useful for "masking". I believe this should do approximately what you want:

CGContextRestoreGState(contextRef);
"approximately" because it'll mask the entire context contents every time, thus doing the wrong thing for more than one face. To handle this case, use CGContextAddEllipseInRect() in the loop and CGContextFillPath() at the end.
You might also want to look at CGContextBeginTransparencyLayerWithRect().

If you want to do image tinting, see UIImage+Tint.m in kballard/MGImageUtilities. If you want wholesale color replacement (e.g. treat an image as a silhouette and change the entire color to one flat color), see UIImage+Tint.m in mattgemmell/MGImageUtilities.
Its latest and most simple way to do it.

One way to accomplish this is to desaturate your image, and add a tint on top of that image with the color you desire.

Drawing in CATiledLayer with CoreGraphics CGContextDrawImage

I would like to use a CATiledLayer in iPhone OS 3.1.3 and to do so all drawing in -(void)drawLayer:(CALayer *)layer inContext:(CGContext)context has to be done with coregraphics only.
Now I run into the problems of the flipped coordinate system on the iPhone and there are some suggestions how to fix it using transforms:

CATiledLayer or CALayer not working
My problem is that I cannot get it to work. I started using the PhotoScroller sample code and replacing the drawing method with coregraphics calls only. It looks like this

As you can see I am using a Scale transform to invert the coordinate system and a translation transform to shift the origin to the lower left corner. The images draw correctly but only the first row of tiles is being drawn. I think there is a problem with the translation operation or the way the coordinates of the tiles are computed.

Bonus question:
How would one handle the retina display pictures in core graphics?

In principle the scale of the display is ignored since Core Graphics is working in pixels not points so when asked to draw more pixels, more CATiledLayers (or sublayers) are used to fill the screen.

Thomas, I started by following the WWDC 2010 ScrollView talk and there is little or no documentation on working within drawLayer:inContext for iOS 3.x. I had the same issues as you do when I moved the demo code from drawRect: across to drawLayer:inContext:.
Some investigation showed me that within drawLayer:inContext: the size and offset of rect returned from CGContextGetClipBoundingBox(context) is exactly what you want to draw in. Where drawRect: gives you the whole bounds.
Knowing this you can remove the row and column iteration, as well as the CGRect intersection for the edge tiles and just draw to the rect once you've translated the context.
Here's what I've ended up with:
