Testing GWT application on Mobile Emulator - gwt

I want an android and iphone emulator to run on windows to test my gwt application on windows. can someone point me to a proper emulator because i've been trying some with no success

The official iPhone simulator does not run on Windows. Seems you have to get a Mac ;-)
However the Android emulator can be installed pretty much anywhere:

If you point the Andorid browser in the emulator to your GWT application you should be able to test it. You can find messages from the browser in LogCat, watch out for the logging tag WebCore. You can even log from within your code and get the output in LogCat, see:

Appium and android stock browser

I have Samsung device with stock browser that called Internet.
The device is over 4.4 version.
I'm trying to remote debug the stock browser on a real device without success.
Already succeeded to remote debug chrome.
Is it possible on a real device and not on emulator?

Hi!, Appium started to work with Android's stock browser (named.. Browser) since v1.3, the actual problem is the Samsung stock browser isn't Browser, it's Internet! These both apps are different (shame on Samsung!, not Appium guys fault). All other Android distributions that stock browser is Browser are working fine with Appium >= v1.3 as I've said before.
Emulator stock browser is Browser, that's why it's working for you on Emulator!
Why Appium doesn't work with Samsung's stock browser?
Appium are built to work with Chromium WebView (present on Chrome and Browser) , and Internet does not have it. So it doesn't work with Appium now, and probably won't work never, as Appium's maintainers does not have any interest to do the automation outside Chromium WebView. Ok, but how do I use Appium with Samsung devices?
So, the only solution is installing Chrome into your samsung device.
If you can't access the store to install the Chrome app, you can download and install manually the Chrome APK into your device (or other browser that uses Chromium webview, such as Chromium and ContentShell).
PS: ContentShell is basically only Chromium webview, without favorites, bookmarks and other common browser stuff, so it's pretty good for Appium testing.

Eclipse program not working

Hello I'm creating an Android project using Eclipse the emulator is very slow I tried using the emulator through my phone but it still wont work I have a Kyocera Event and android 4.0
software anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem so I can run the emulator through my phone?
Try to use HAXM if you have an Intel processor and a different image of the system rather than ARM. I had similar problem with debugging using my tablet, I would highly recommend HAXM.
Did you enable USB Debugging in your phone settings? And check SDK Manager - Extra - Google USB Driver
I have been using real devices to test my apps, and if you dont know, your device might not be recognized by your IDE even though it is picked up by your computer. The solution, first, click http://developer.android.com/tools/extras/oem-usb.html
scroll down to the bottom, locate the manufaturer of your phone and download the appropriate driver for your device, install it, then, you need to open the "SDK Manager" to download the system images for the platforms you want to test against, you might need to download the "Google USB Driver" in the "Extras" section in "SDK Manager". Or if you want an emulator that is as fast as a real device, consider "Geny Motion", pretty easy to install. You can search for "Geny Motion" through google, shoule be able to see it the first result. Hope this helps.

Troubleshoot Android 4.3 webview within an app that requires up-to-date Google Play services

I need to troubleshoot an issue happening in a webview running within my app. This issue only occurs on Android versions lower or equal to 4.3. My app requires an up to date version of Google Play services.
In order to troubleshoot my webview, I usually can run my app under the Android Emulator (with the latest version of Android), then connect to the web view via Chrome (using chrome://inspect) - the web view appears in Chrome and I'm able to browse the DOM and debug.
To run the app under 4.3, I've created (under AVD) a new device from an existing device definition,
then picked the target Google APIs (Google Inc.) - API Level 18. I've then installed my app, but when trying to run it, I get the error message "This app won't run unless you update Google Play services.". There's an "Update" button on the previous dialog, but nothing happen when clicking on it.
I then tried to debug my issue using Genymotion. I've created a device under 4.3, followed these instructions to flash my device with the latest Google Play services and installed my app. I can now run the app and reproduce the issue within this simulated environment.
The trick now is to be able to connect to the web view from my local Chrome browser. I've enabled remote debugging as described here. Now my device appears in Chrome, but the web view is not showing up in the inspector. Similarly, if I open a new tab under the native browser, it won't show up in the remote inspector. If I open a new tab under Android Chrome though, I can see it showing up under my remote Chrome inspector.
I can see two way moving forward and successfully accessing to the DOM of my webview:

Any idea on how to solve one of these two problems?
I have been using weinre for sometimes. it's a pretty good tool to debug webview for android 4.3 and lower. It provides almost same interface as chrome debugger.
All you need to do are:
Install weinre
sudo npm -g install weinre
Client side:
Insert the following code to your webpage <head> section.
Note: it's better to put it at end of <head> section, otherwise there will be some strange errors and debugger won't show up.

open the debugger tool from weinre from your desktop browser:

Finally,
select any target in Targets part and then start debugging.

Running Instagram on AVD

I wanted to use Instagram on my computer, so I decided to use an Android Virtual Device for that task.
I downloaded the Android SDK and the newest apk for instagram for my computer.
Then I created a new AVD and ran it. After it was booted, I installed the instagram apk using adb install instagram.apk.
It installed smoothly and after clicking the app, it started.
Now here's my problem: From there on nothing works.
When I try to login and I press the login button, nothing happens like there would be no internet connection.
Browsers and other apps using an internet connection work just fine, just instagram doesn't work.
How can I fix this?
I think it has something to do that the android Emulator can't really handle a global proxy.
Therefore hostnames get resolved directly to their IP which violates HTTP 1.1 standarts and the request doesn't get send properly.
To fix this, it is needed to change it so the hostname gets send instead of the IP.
You should try creating an AVD with different settings. More RAM and allowing GPU emulation is a good idea. If you insist on using an AVD and you have an appropriate intel CPU then you can make the emulator run much faster by following these steps. They are a bit complicated, but worth it if you want the emulator to run quicker.
I typically try to avoid using the Android emulator while I am developing apps. It has its uses, but it tends to be slow and doesn't have all of the capabilities of actual devices.
As an alternative to using an AVD, I would recommend downloading and installing BlueStacks. BluesStacks was written from the ground up to allow running Android apps on your Windows PC or Mac. I have used it before and it does a great job. Much better than an AVD.
Try visual studio emulator for android. Instagram works on it with enabled and connected wifi. This emulator works better than BlueStacks.

Unable to launch Android emulator from Eclipse/Linux

I'm using Eclipse Juno (build 20120920-0800) on openSUSE 12.2 to code Android applications.
I have installed the SDK by uncompressing it into my home directory (if I install the SDK via YaST package I can't download stuff unless I'm root). I installed ADT from Eclipse Marketplace, configured the path of the SDK and configured a couple of emulator configurations.
I can run and debug fine on my phone, and I guess the same applies to my tablet even if I haven't tried yet.
The real problem is that I can't run the emulator. Clicking on the bacarozzo debug icon prompts me to run the application on the device but doesn't show me available emulators.
If I open the device manager I'm shown with the virtual devices I created but I can't just start any. The progress bar reaches the end, I see no emulator screen and if I try to delete the emulator I'm warned that the instance is running... (OK in the screenshot there is only one, I already managed to delete the other)
I urge to test some GUI features in an outdated version of Android. I have done all the field tests of the business logic code in my program on a JB device and I know for sure that code works on any device.
Now I only need to be backward-compatible with preferences and layouts.
How can I start the emulator in Linux?
Just by luck I managed to run the emulator from console

It came to life and Eclipse debug is detecting it as active device
