In Google Talk, how to send a message to person that is not in my friend list?
I work on an application that notify customers of a bank about change of their accounts. When I send a message to a person not in my list, no error is created, but the message isn't delivered to the recipient.
Because of design issues it is not suitable to send an invitation to customers and store information about their responses to it.

You can message a user directly using XMPP without an active presence subscription (the requirement for an item to appear in your roster), but most clients (Google Talk clients included AFAIK) will discard the message upon reception, if the from header does not match a bare JID in their roster.

Identify email message related to received webhook

Today I started to learn about webhooks and I was wondering if it is possible to know exactly what message is related to a received webhook.
For example, I have a website where customers can register and, after a successful registration, I'm sending them a confirmation via email. Is it possible to know that the customer clicked on that specific email message? (Considering that the customer can receive other types of email messages like password recovery, newsletters, etc). I know I can use the subject (something like if subject == 'Welcome to My Site' then do-email-post-registration-clicked-routine) but if the subject changes, or if they change it (when we reply to a message, usually the email client prepends "Re:" to the subject, I won't be able to track it.

Yes. You can use custom arguments to track individual emails. Custom arguments get sent with event webhooks.

invite gtalk user via xmpphp

I have set up a basic install of XMPPHP and to test it I tried sending a message from one of my gtalk (GoogleTalk) accounts to another gTalk account. The receiving account did not show the message, or the normal "user * has sent you a message: accept/block"
I then sent my receiving account a chat message from within the Google interface, and it prompted me (as expected) to add my account to the list of approved chat people.
Once my sending account was on the "approved" list, i was able successfully to send messages with xmpphp with no problem.
My question: Using xmpphp, how do i send an INVITATION to chat? I can send messages fine once the recipient accepts my incoming chats, but the first message sent does not trigger the chat program to prompt me to accept the messages.
As a follow-up...is there a way to find out if the recipient has accepted the request? ANy way to know that the messages are being delivered (or not)?
I had the same problem and the solution is to send a "subscribe" request before the message.
So just call
$conn->subscribe('someguy#someserver.net');
before
$conn->message('someguy#someserver.net', 'This is a test message!');

XMPP Framework: Not able to receive my messages

I am working on xmpp framework. I have done most of initial things. I created stream, Connected it and get authenticate. Now I am sending buddy request to another user from my app. App shows presence is sent. When I get roster it shows a entry there. But on other system I am not getting any precence or anything. I tried to send a message message is also not received by other client.
Than I used one id in ichat and send friend request to that id. Wow I am able to see friend request on ichat. I accept request from ichat :( No notification on my app.
If I send message to ichat. Message shown in iChat. but when I send message to my app from ichat.. My app is not getting any delegate called or nothing.
I don't know why this is happening.
I am using a non ARC xmpp framework.
Please guys Please help me. I am badly stucked in it :(

Have you consider to send presence after get authenticate?
If you are authenticate but not sending preence than server will consider you offline and all messages sent to you will be stored on server with delay.
Send your presence and see the magic. :)
I am not an iPhone developer so i can not explain programming.
In XMPP, Presence subscription has two handshakes. Like When first user send request to second user , it will ask for presence subscription to second user. When second user accept , then first user is subscribed for second user's presence. So he can get all the presence of second user. It's called "to" subscription type for first user. Now second user ask for presence subscription to first user and first accepts request then this "to" subscription type changed to "both" subscription type. Now both user can get presence of each other. otherwise only first user can get presence of second user.
And for messages, there must be a some prob with listener.

How can I send email to someone's #facebook.com address without it landing in the "Other Messages" folder?

Facebook filters many messages to the Other Messages folder (http://betabeat.com/2011/12/return-of-laptop-lost-in-taxi-foiled-by-facebooks-obscure-message-folder/).
Does anyone know how they filter incoming mail to #facebook.com email addresses? Can non-friends email users at #facebook? Can apps?
If the user replies to an e-mail in the Other messages folder, that e-mail address is then whitelisted, and subsequent e-mails will end up in the Messages folder.
I read somewhere that you only have to move a message from Other messages to Messages to whitelist the sender of that message, but that doesn't seem to work.
According to this facebook help center post:
You'll see mostly messages from friends and people you may know (ex: friends of friends) in your inbox. Typically, messages from other people will go to your Other folder, and you won't receive a notification about them.
You may sometimes get messages in your inbox from people you're not connected to. Some examples of when these messages may go to your inbox are:
A friend of a friend includes you in a message along with some of your mutual friends
A member of a group you're in messages you or includes you in a message
A friend who isn't on Facebook uses your contact info to send you a message from the Facebook Messenger app.
Additionally, someone you're not connected to on Facebook may pay to ensure their message is routed to your inbox instead of your Other folder.

How are SaaS/Mult-Tenancy apps implementing email notifications (sending and receving)?

Given multi-tenant application, How are vendors implementing email notifications from an email account setup and programming perspective:
Sending emails could come from a generic account: eg notifications#VendorName.com or noreply#VendorName.com, this seems reasonable considering reply addresses and lilnks can be contained within the email contents.
Receiving Emails: How would an application receive email, for instance; to generate support tickets or assign comments in an email to a project/task. I have seen ID's within the subject and some reply to addresses containing the account name eg: notifications#AccountName.VendorName.com
I realise one can programatically connect to a pop3 server and receive emails and look for the IDs with the subject, but is there a way of setting up and receiving email to a single pop3 account from multiple sub-host name email addresses (not sure on terminology there) eg: noreply#AccountName1.VendorName.com or noreply#AccountName2.VendorName.com and check the Account Name from the address? (similar to checking subdomains on a URL)
Any practices, experience, comments or sughestions?

For sending notification emails, we have a notification send to address associated with each account and simply send from our domain to that address. Our from address is monitored and replies end up in the CSR work queue.
For inbound emails, we use FogBugz (from the makers of Stack Overflow) for case tracking. That accepts new cases via email (e.g. cases#mycompany.com). Tickets are auto-created from the email. My only complaint there is that the customer needs to check an obscure link for case updates (no "my cases" web portal, but maybe that will come out in an upcoming version of FogBugz).
We have a custom field in FogBugz to indicate the customer the ticket is from. We could theoretically write a plugin to FogBugz that auto-assigns that using the senders domain, but I guess the CSR's haven't complained loudly enough yet :-)
We (at muHive) are an inbound email/social conversations management product. If you are looking at a handling inbound email or social media conversations from customers, we have an impressive toolset.
For our own outbound needs, the simplest way is to use an Email sending API. Don't bother with SMTP sending by yourself. We use Amazon SES and have also tried Sendgrid which gave us additional benefits like delivery status and email parsing.
There are two ways in which you can handle multiple accounts to a catch all email address. If your target system can differentiate between different customers and assign tasks to the correct representatives based on either the content/sender, ask all your customers to send an email to support#company.com.
As you rightly said, you could also create *accountName_support#company.com* email addresses and use different accounts on whatever CRM/Support solution use to manage these emails.
Another approach is to have your customers send you an email to support#company.com and you use a rule based system (like muHive) to forward these mails to the appropriate account executives based on the customer/account who sent the mail.
