i have made setup for the rhodes (cross platform) very well and i got the success in setup itself.with the "$rake run:iphone" command i can get the successful execution of demo project.Now i want to handle some issues like i want to do arithmatic calculations in one screen and i want to show the answer in next screen.
How would i get that? give the suggestions please?
I know that it is some time since you posted this, but I hope it helps or that others may find it helpfull.
Assuming that you know how to make the calculations on the first page, lets call it the index-page (as it is properly named in rhodes), you can do it as follows:
Before you begin make sure that you store the result of your calculations in a variable, for these instructions lets call it $result.
1) Create a new .erb file which you want to represent the result page (if you created a model, you already have a .erb file called "show" and could just as easily modify and use that). In this example - lets call the page "result".
2) Create a new def in your controller - lets call it "calculate". This could look something like this:
def calculate
[do any calulations you should desire]
$result = [result of calculations]
render :action => :result, :back => url_for(:action => :index)
end
This line:
render :action => :result, :back => url_for(:action => :index)
will send you to your result page and define the action for the smartphone's backbutton to navigate back to your index-page.
3) Make sure that your "get-result-button" on your index-page invokes your new def. For a simple link this could for example look something like this:
get result
4) Display the result in the result page.
Your variable from your index-page is still available in the result-page, so you can show the result by adding the following line to your result-page (result.erb):
<%= $result.to_s %> (this will insert your result as a string).

I am trying to reset a form so that it appears to Drupal 8 that it hasn't been submitted. So far I have been unable to do this, as I cannot find any available methods (setSubmitted() hardcodes it to TRUE without a FALSE option). The reason is this isn't a full submit, but a submit of one field after which I would like the user to be redirected to another page that has another form, and I would like this secondary form to use the value obtained in the first step.
In the submit handler for the first part I use this to redirect:
$form_state->setRedirect('my.route', [], []);
And this works, but when the form reaches the second form (it seems) that the second form thinks it is a submission. As a result any submit buttons I add to the second form seem to make it auto-submit, and this breaks my user journey.
In the submit for the first part I have tried:
$form_state->setRebuild(TRUE);
$form_state = new FormState();
unset($form_state);
Tried the above in various configurations to no avail. They all prevent/ignore the setRedirect call that I make afterwards. The reason I want/need to do it this way is I want to preserve the POST method used.
Do you want to obtain something similar to what core search module does? It has simple SearchBlockForm that sends data to more complex SearchPageForm.
SearchBlockForm uses GET method (though you may use POST):
$form['#method'] = 'get';
and has no id and token fields:
function search_form_search_block_form_alter(&$form, FormStateInterface $form_state) {
$form['form_build_id']['#access'] = FALSE;
$form['form_token']['#access'] = FALSE;
$form['form_id']['#access'] = FALSE;
}
BTW, the last change allows you to avoid running submit callbacks.
Hope this helps.
I want to create a standard typo3 extension but when I create a record (or modify it) I want to calculate something (in my case I want to call the Google Map API to get coordinates from a given address).
SO I search for a hook or something. Any idea?
One of my project example, may helps you for hook in backend when record has been changed.
In your extension file ext_localconf.php
// Hook for cancellation
$GLOBALS['TYPO3_CONF_VARS']['SC_OPTIONS']['t3lib/class.t3lib_tcemain.php']['processDatamapClass'][] = 'EXT:femanager/class.tx_femanager_tcemainprocdm.php:tx_femanager_tcemainprocdm';
hook file class.tx_femanager_tcemainprocdm.php where you can execute
your script
class tx_femanager_tcemainprocdm{
function processDatamap_postProcessFieldArray ($status, $table, $id, &$fieldArray, &$reference){
// $status also called action like delete
// $table - table name of excute backend action
// $id - record UID
// $fieldArray - fields of your table
if($table = 'your_extension_table_name'){
// your script
}
}
}
Maybe this answer is useful to you.
Register your class as a data handling hook in your extension. This one "is called AFTER all commands of the commandmap" were executed. Maybe you need to look for a more appropriate one.
Then in your registered Hook i.e. 'typo3conf/ext/your_ext/Classes/Hooks/AfterCreate.php' do your calculation. Hope this sets you on the right track.
In my special case there was no need to calculate the coordinates when the record got saved. So I just used the listAction in the controller, check if coordinates are there and if not call the Google API (and send an email if the Google API does not give a coordinate back).
In another case where the new record comes from a frontend plugin and I had to do something with this data I used the createAction in the Controller. (I am not sure if the createAction is also called when the record is created from the backend.)
I've got a view (phase4) with some custom content type content in it, where the users may comment on.
When the users want to comment, the comment form should appear in a modal form. I solved this by using the admin overlay.
Adding following function to my custom module:
function phase2_admin_paths_alter(&$paths) {
$paths['comment/reply/*'] = TRUE;
}
and using following link:
Comment
to open the comment form in a modal way. So far so good... but....
How do I redirect the user back to the page, the user was coming from.
I know that I have to overwrite the #action of the form in the template_form_FORMID_alter, like
$form['#action'] = $lasturl;
but how do I get the last url, so that it is reusable (so hardcoding the url isn't an option)?
My first idea was that I transfer the last url by adding it to the url as a $_GET-parameter, but it looks like this:
www.example.com/phase4#overlay=comment/reply/161%3Furl%3Dphase4
I also tried it with drupal_get_destination(), but either with no success, because of the tranformation of the "?" and the "=" in the url.
Are there other ways to find out where the user was coming from?
Note: phase4 isn't the alias of node 161. Phase 4 is a view, where node 161 is an element of.
Cheers
Tom
You have to use the drupal_get_destination() function with l() function to create such links.
$destination = drupal_get_destination(); // Store current path

When using ZFDebug, is it possible to add custom messages to the 'Log' tab?
So you could use something like:
$this->log('Error: Couldn't find the user');
Has anyone managed to achieve this?
I have never used ZFDebug before and wasn't aware of it. Your post piqued my interest, so I installed it and have been trying to achieve what you want to do. I will probably add it to my dev toolbox as I use ZF a lot.
You can achieve what you want by using the mark() method of ZFDebug_Controller_Plugin_Debug_Plugin_Log which takes two arguments. The first is the message you want to send and the second is a boolean which, when set to true (default is false), will send your message to the 'log' tab.
The following code worked for me:-
$debug = Zend_Controller_Front::getInstance()
->getPlugin('ZFDebug_Controller_Plugin_Debug');
$logger = $debug->getPlugin('log');
$logger->mark('Logging a message now', true);
Or to use your example (with the syntax error fixed :) )
$logger->mark("Error: Couldn't find the user", true);
As you can see this produced the desired output:-
Not quite as simple as you wanted, I know, but it's close and you could always wrap it in a function.
I have a Strain model that has a belongsTo relationship with a Sample model, i. e. a strain belongs to a sample.
I am configuring a hidden field in the StrainForm configure() method this way:
$defaultId = (int)$this->getObject()->getSample()->getTable()->getDefaultSampleId();
$this->setWidget('sample_id', new sfWidgetFormInputHidden(array('default' => $defaultId)));
Whenever I create a new Strain, the $form->save() fails. The debug toolbar revealed that it tries to save a Sample object first and I do not know why.
However, if I retrieve the default sample ID using the table it works like a charm:
$defaultId = (int)Doctrine_Core::getTable('Sample')->getDefaultSampleId();
$this->setWidget('sample_id', new sfWidgetFormInputHidden(array('default' => $defaultId)));
My question here is what can be happening with the getObject()->getSample()... sequence of methods that causes the StrainForm to think it has to save a Sample object instead of Strain.
I tried to debug with xdebug but I cannot came up with a clear conclusion.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!!
When you call getSample its creating a Sample instance. This is automatically attached to the Strain object, thus when you save you also save the Sample.
An altenrative to calling getSample would be to chain through Strain object to the Sample table since i assume youre only doing this so your not hardcodeing the Sample's name in related form:
// note Sample is the alias not necessarily the Model name
$defaultId = Doctrine_Core::getTable($this->getObject()->getTable()->getRelation('Sample')->getModel())->getDefaultId();
Your solution probably falls over because you can't use getObject() on a new form (as at that stage the object simply doesn't exist).
Edit: Why don't you pass the default Sample in via the options array and then access it from within the form class via $this->getOption('Sample') (if I remember correctly)?
