was followin this tutorial

when i run my program in browser by IP , the application works
but when i compile it and run it in producution mode, it says that server isn't running
anyone knows the solution? or what i am doing wrong?
server i think is jetty, it comes with GWT by default
Initializing AppEngine server
Logging to JettyLogger(null) via com.google.apphosting.utils.jetty.JettyLogger
Successfully processed C:\Users\Jansu\Documents\workspace\gtw-test\war\WEB-INF/appengine-web.xml
Successfully processed C:\Users\Jansu\Documents\workspace\gtw-test\war\WEB-INF/web.xml
The server is running at http://localhost:8888/
You have to use TomCat, Glassfish, or jetty to run the web server.

I'm running on Win 7 using Eclipse 4.2 starting a web app on a Tomcat 7 server and using Derby database. I have tried many approaches but run consistently into a common problem:
Everything works just fine the first time I start up and run.
When I redeploy my application after a change, all database connections hang (any kind of restart).
If I stop Eclipse and restart Eclipse, that clears up the problem and the next run works fine again.
Having done some investigation, it appears that the problem is that the Derby port (1527) is not released from one execution of the server to the next. That seems very strange to me since Derby is started by the Tomcat instance which is a separate javaw process.
I've tried:
Configuring the Derby connection as a Tomcat resource
Establishing the connection within my code (rather than via Tomcat resource)
Both the embedded and the network driver
Starting / stopping the network driver from a servlet on startup and shutdown of the Tomcat server
Shutting down the embedded driver via servlet on shutdown of Tomcat
Again, every approach works fine to connect the first time.
One other symptom that doesn't appear to be related (except for as a possible indicator of whether or not shutdown completes correctly) is that the db.lck file for my database never gets deleted. However, whether or not it exists has no bearing on whether or not I can reconnect (only stopping/starting eclipse has an impact).
Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks!
After some further investigation I'm going to call this a duplicate of: Cannot create JDBC driver of class ' ' for connect URL 'null' : I do not understand this exception. It's not quite the same thing, but that solution (creating META-INF/context.xml) allows it to proceed to failing calls rather than hangs, which is a significant improvement and suggests it's largely related.
I did finally figure this out. It turns out I had the derby jars in the Tomcat lib folder (for Tomcat) and in the deployment assembly for my application in Eclipse (rather than just in the build path). So Tomcat was using the built-in libs, while my app was using the embedded libs, and this resulted in conflicts. Leaving the libs as part of Tomcat and removing them from my war file solved the problem completely.
I am searching for a way to start the Websphere Liberty profile in debug mode from the command line? I want to be able to start Liberty, so that it is listening for debug connections on a specific port. Then I would like to connect to Liberty from Eclipse, so that I can step through and debug the server code running in Liberty.
I've tried integrating Liberty into Eclipse and using the Eclipse 'Servers' view. This works great and I can start and stop Liberty using debug mode. Unfortunately, this method does not satisfy my use case because the build process uses tools external to Eclipse.
Essentially, I need a way to do this via the command line.
I tried creating a jvm.options file for Liberty and starting it, but I still can't connect to the port I specified. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, but thus far I haven't figured it out.
This page has some info on jvm.options
The Administering the Liberty profile from the command prompt page describes how to do this:
[bin]$ export WLP_DEBUG_ADDRESS=7778
[bin]$ ./server debug
Listening for transport dt_socket at address: 7778
You can then connect from Eclipse using Remote Debugging.
It would be great if someone can help me on this:
I configured a tomcat server for doing remote debugging using eclipse:
I used the gui for tomcat7
If I run tomcat with the command
-Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=8000,server=y,suspend=n it works fine but
If I put suspend=y in the above command tomcat sert hangs in starting state and does not stop at all even after 2-3 hours.
When using suspend=y, the JVM remains suspended until a debug client connects.
To connect to the suspended Tomcat instance, you can create a new Eclipse Debug Configuration via Run->Debug Configurations. Then choose Remote Java Application. On the configuration panel, specify the host and port e.g. 8000 to connect. Finally, press Debug. This will attempt to connect to your suspended Tomcat instance. Once, the connection is made you can step through the code. (Of course, you must load that code into the Eclipse workspace)
My application runs on a remote server.
I use tomcat to deploy the web based part of my application.
The flow is Action classes calls the remote classes using RMI.
I am using Eclipse and When I browse a page, am able to debug the remote java classess, But I need to debug Action classes also as it also contains more logic.
How will I do it, Please help, Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Sridevi
Either launch Tomcat in debug mode from Eclipse, or launch tomcat with remote debug options, and attach a remote debug session from Eclipse to this tomcat server (in a similar way as you're probably doing for the remote RMI server).
See http://wiki.apache.org/tomcat/HowTo#How_do_I_debug_a_Tomcat_application.3F for how to start tomcat in remote debug mode:
set JPDA_ADDRESS=1044
set JPDA_TRANSPORT=dt_socket
catalina jpda start
In my gwt application,i am using php code for back end process...i can get response from that php file when i deploy on iis server...
but i can't get response from that php file when i running from the eclipse...
(i.e)
can get response from this url "http://localhost/sample/index.php"
can't get response from this url "http://localhost:8888/sample/index.php" it returns my php code...
It's probably possible to run PHP on Jetty, too: See these instructions - not sure, if they still work with Jetty 6, and I really haven't tried it.
But I would recommend to simply run a separate PHP server (maybe deployed from a separate Eclipse project). See this GWT FAQ entry: How do I use my own server in hosted mode instead of GWT's built-in Jetty instance
You could use the gwt -noserver option
"The -noserver option instructs hosted mode to not start the embedded Jetty instance. In its place, you would run the J2EE container of your choice and simply use that in place of the embedded Jetty instance."
I don't know if this would solve your problem
