developing/testing facebook apps while I'm not a facebook fans - facebook

My next side project is a facebook app. I spent a day on reading through the facebook documentation, and then figured out my facebook wall is almost blank. So how can I get enough sample data for developing/testing facebook apps in a quick way? Or which facebook geek has an account with tons of public data that I can test my app with? (I know I can create several test users and friend/comment on/like/... each other, but it is tedious to do this you know.)

Test users cannot interact with other users outside of their app, so I think what you're thinking there doesn't work. Additionally, it's against Facebook TOS to log into another user's account and I'm not aware of any public data sources. Regarding finding a bunch of Facebook pages, check out the Facebook page browser, which allows easy liking and management and should fill up your feed in no time.

How to add blogger's RSS feed to facebook profile/page

I have a blog and I want that whatever is posted in the blog should get directly posted on my facebook profile/page. Basically I wish to post my blog's RSS feed to my facebook profile/page. I used RSS Graffiti to accomplish the task but somehow it seems like that isn't working.
You should forget about the user profile for that. First of all, you are not allowed to use the user profile for commercial reasons, it´s ONLY a user profile, for you and your friends, not a platform to advertise. And then there´s the problem with the Access Token. An Extended User Token lasts for 60 days, so you would have to refresh it every 2 months if you want to autopost stuff to Facebook.
Now for your Facebook Page, you can create an Extended Page Token that lasts forever. The rest is explained in the Facebook docs: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/graph-api/reference/v2.2/page/feed#publish
In general, you need to use a Page Token with publish_actions to post to the /page-id/feed endpoint.
Information about Access Tokens and how to generate and extend them:
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-login/access-tokens
http://www.devils-heaven.com/facebook-access-tokens/
At this point, Facebook does not let you add an RSS feed to automatically do that.
I would recommend using a tool like IFTTT which does it very well!
Facebook between 2009-2011 had a feature which allowed you to add blog feeds from any format to your profile so it would publish. It was later introduced into Facebook Pages and some how discontinued in the main profiles of users on Facebook, so that businesses appear as businesses and everyone else appears as everyone else, since currently on my profile on Facebook, my content from Flickr, Twitter, Google+, YouTube and my other accounts are automatically published to my main Facebook profile. This is because I signed up and started using Facebook in 2009 to the current date.
What really annoys me is that there is so much info online about how to do this but I have to say is that Facebook can easily adjust it's service to include RSS Feeds in it's platform through the app http:// facebook .com/apps/feed , which basically shows your updates from the games you play on Facebook, which is annoying that Facebook hasn't even got round to replacing RSS Feeds into profiles.
I'll send some support requests to Facebook (lets say tons of support requests) and I'll ask them to add it back in because other users are slightly annoyed. I'm annoyed with the childish icons that they have (including the icon for the Instagram app, which, yes, is owned by Facebook).
Another way is by connecting your apps that you use to your Facebook account by going to either the respective app in Facebook itself or by finding the setting Connect To Facebook in the Settings of your accounts on other Third-Party services. As an example, you can use PlayStation Network (PSN) by connecting your PlayStation account to your Facebook through the PS4 itself by going into Settings > Account Settings > Link Services > Facebook and then type in your login details, as usual. This will log you and keep you signed into your Facebook account on your PSN account. This means that everytime you interact with PSN by the associated Facebook service, your interaction is posted to Facebook based on the settings whether it's set to post as Private or Public. This means that everytime you play a game or decide to setup a Live Stream, your post is posted to Facebook from the PS4 automatically. Same method could also work with Blogger app for Facebook by connecting your Facebook to your Blogger account (in Google+ settings if you've switched to the new profile interface). So it's possible, yes, in other apps now more than before so it's also the reason for why Facebook probably removed Feeds.
If anyone wants to see my updates from my connected apps and connected data, you can follow my Public hashtag posts at http://facebook.com/search/top/?q=%23warrenwoodhouse and you can follow the same hashtag on every service available including PSN, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Google Search, Google Images, Google Videos, YouTube, YouTube Gaming, Instagram, Flickr and other services. If you're interested in seeing my full feed updates, I've created a nice feed on FeedBurner at http:// feeds. feedburner .com/warrenwoodhouse

Facebook connect and share application for website (like 9gag)

I'm creating a website where users can make reservations on certain restaurants, I want the whole page to be integrated with Facebook since you log in. And when the user makes a reservation Facebook will automatically post the reservation on the users Facebook so other may see it in their home page (just like an activity of 9gag).
Any help please!! I'm a programmer but it's the first time I try to integrate Facebook.
If you start with Facebook, this is where you should go:
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/
For login:
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/concepts/login/
Also read the terms and conditions of facebook, there are some important rules for apps.

Deprecated offline access in Facebook

I just created last week an App and I've read that offline access doesn't work with newly created apps.(I haven't found any tutorial on the web. I am really new to facebook apps)
with this new change in facebook, I don't know how to use the current thing.
I badly need this feature because I don't want the user keeps logging-in in facebook everytime he visits and posts a status in my site as well in his facebook wall. I just want the user to be stayed connected and be able to post on his wall automatically thru my site once he authorized my app.
Thank you.
There are very clear and simple instructions on the following documentation to explain what you need to do to switch to long-life access tokens:
https://developers.facebook.com/roadmap/offline-access-removal/
Also, from your description, it sounds like you are spamming and breaking Facebook Platform Policies. Users will hate any app that automatically posts on their behalf, so I recommend you do not do that, as either people will stop using your app or they'll report it and it'll get banned.

How to authorize Facebook App for basic permissions without showing Authorization Dialog

From the documentation it seems that the user should always authorize the Facebook application even to access basic permissions.
However, sites like Rotten Tomatoes and Clicker.com auto-authorize the logged facebook user without showing the authorization dialog. If you visit one of those sites for the first time they will be able to access your public data without you authorizing it. If I go to the Apps on my facebook settings, an entry will appear showing that I gave access to those applications (but I DID NOT).
How can this be possible? Is it related to the "Instant Personalization" feature for selected partners?
Thanks
Well, I was doing some research and yes, it's all about Instant Personalization.
From Facebook:
We've partnered with a few websites to provide you with great,
personalized experiences the moment you arrive, such as immediately
playing the music you like or displaying friends' reviews. To tailor
your experience, these partners only access public information (like
your name and profile picture) and other information you've made
public.
From one of its partners:
Clicker.com
So -at the time I'm writing this- unless you're a partner of Facebook, you'll have to show the old OAuth dialog.
Hope it helps!

How can I like a post/comment in facebook fan page from my custom website

I am importing the posts and comments in my FB fan page to my custom website. I am importing using graph api. In the response array I am getting two types of action URL for "comments" and "likes".
See below :
http://www.facebook.com/149263441795729/posts/240758399312899
Using this link in following code
<fb:like href="http://www.facebook.com/149263441795729/posts/240758399312899" width="450" height="80"/>
I get the following error
The page at http://www.facebook.com/149263441795729/posts/240758399312899 could not be reached.
How can I like these posts or comments from my website? Is there any solution for that?
I think--I'm no expert here--that redirects such as this are controlled by Facebook, with a cross-site scripting policy file on their servers that say whether or not they will allow redirects and to who. On my website for example I allow anybody to cross link, since I'm just a little guy, but I bet Facebook only allows it with preferred partners like various corporations, see the story below. That would be my best guess.

Facebook may be adding cross-linking to Foursquare, Yelp, Gowalla and more on Pages
Facebook appears to have added cross-linking between Pages and other location-based sites like Foursquare, Yelp, Gowalla and SCVNGR to its Pages, reports Scribbal. Tech evangelist Robert Scoble posted a notice on his Google+ profile earlier today that indicated a new partnership between Foursquare and Facebook as the Page for a place was shown to direct viewers to the comparable location on Foursquare.
The links appear off to the left underneath the ‘Like’ count and checkin count on a location’s page. The only question that remains is whether the users are activating these connections themselves or if it is something that is done automatically. This could be Facebook’s plan to integrate itself with other location sites now that it has distributed the Facebook Places features throughout its framework.
Facebook has been on a tear lately, adding the Subscribe button and smart Friends list features just this week, as well as Facebook integration into the new Skype for Mac. It is clearly making an effort to maintain its lead over Google+ as the preeminent social network and it doesn’t want lack of features to be a reason for anyone to quit it.
We have reached out to Facebook about this new feature and will update this post when we hear back.
