I have button that makes overlay with label and X button on it:
- (IBAction)taptaxi:(id)sender {
UIView *overlay = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 480)];
overlay.backgroundColor = [UIColor colorWithWhite:0 alpha:.7];
UILabel *waiting = [[[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(50, 210, 250, 30)] autorelease];
waiting.text = #"Waiting for cab response...";
waiting.textColor = [UIColor whiteColor];
waiting.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
waiting.font = [UIFont systemFontOfSize:14];
UIButton *stoprequest = [[UIButton alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(225, 219, 13, 13)];
UIImage *srbackground = [[UIImage imageNamed:#"iks.png"] stretchableImageWithLeftCapWidth:0 topCapHeight:0];
[stoprequest setBackgroundImage:srbackground forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[stoprequest addTarget: self action: #selector(stopRequestMethod:) forControlEvents: UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
[self.view.window addSubview:overlay];
[overlay addSubview:waiting];
[overlay addSubview:stoprequest];
}
- (void)stopRequestMethod: (id)sender
{
}
Question is, how to hide/remove overlay with label and button when I tap on X butoon (stopRequestMethod)?
Give your overlay a tag:
overlay.tag = 42;
Then, in your method that gets called when the X button is pressed:
UIView *overlay = [self.view.window viewWithTag:42];
[overlay removeFromSuperview];

I am developing one application for iphone and in that i have some issues regarding adding more then one UILabel in navigation bar at a specific position.
What i want is in following images
in above image there is one backbar button and one imageview as shown with arrow-mark. Other then that all white box is for difrent UILabels to show in navigation bar.
There is only one UIImageView in the navigation bar and one left bar button. Now problem is that i don't know how to add multiple UILabel in navigation bar at a specific position.
Till now what i have worked is to add only button and UIImageView with the right bar button array or left bar button array, but that only add items in sequnce.
So can anyone please guide me that how can anyone add UILabels or any other item at a specific position..
you can add Multiple UIlabel or Image as look like bellow image:-
this can do using bellow code you can change Label and imageView frame and put as your requirement
- (void)viewDidLoad
{
UIView *btn = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 60)];
UILabel *label;
label = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(5, 25, 200, 16)];
label.tag = 1;
label.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
label.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:16];
label.adjustsFontSizeToFitWidth = NO;
label.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentLeft;
label.textColor = [UIColor whiteColor];
label.text = #"My first lable";
label.highlightedTextColor = [UIColor whiteColor];
[btn addSubview:label];
[label release];
label = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 30, 200, 16)];
label.tag = 2;
label.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
label.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:16];
label.adjustsFontSizeToFitWidth = NO;
label.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentRight;
label.textColor = [UIColor whiteColor];
label.text = #"second line";
label.highlightedTextColor = [UIColor whiteColor];
[btn addSubview:label];
[label release];
UIImageView *imgviw=[[UIImageView alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(170, 10, 20, 20)];
imgviw.backgroundColor = [UIColor blackColor];
imgviw.image=[UIImage imageNamed:#"a59117c2eb511d911cbf62cf97a34d56.png"];
[btn addSubview:imgviw];
self.navigationItem.titleView = btn;
}
You can add subviews directly to the navigationBar -
UINavigationBar *navBar = navController.navigationBar;
[navBar addSubview: yourLabel];
yourLabel frame origin will be relative to the navigation bar
Try this code
UIView *buttonContainer = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 200, 44)];
buttonContainer.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
UIButton *button0 = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[button0 setFrame: CGRectMake(160, 7 , 40, 30)];
[button0 setTitle:#"Sort" forState:UIControlStateNormal];
button0.titleLabel.font = [UIFont fontWithName:#"Helvetica" size:12];
[button0 setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"Btn_Sort_Btn_Sort_Places.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[button0 addTarget:self action:#selector(sortAction) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
[button0 setShowsTouchWhenHighlighted:YES];
[buttonContainer addSubview:button0];
self.navigationItem.titleView = buttonContainer;
UILabel *lbl_title = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(10, 0 , 140, 40)];
lbl_title.text = str_HeaderTitle;
lbl_title.textColor = [UIColor whiteColor];
lbl_title.font = [UIFont fontWithName:#"Helvetica-Bold" size:16];
lbl_title.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
lbl_title.textAlignment = NSTextAlignmentCenter;
[buttonContainer addSubview:lbl_title];
You can set an arbitrary view instead of a view controller's title:
myViewController.navigationItem.titleView = someView;
Note that most likely the view's frame will be restricted to make room for leftBarButtonItem and rightBarButtonItem.
UILabel *label=[[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(50, 2, 20, 15)];
[label setBackgroundColor:[UIColor greenColor]];
UIImageView *imgView=[[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(40, 20, 150, 10)];
[imgView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor redColor]];
[[self.navigationController navigationBar] addSubview:label];
[self.navigationController.navigationBar addSubview:imgView];
Have a look at this piece of code. With some modifications it should solve your problem:
UIButton *imageButton = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
[imageButton setFrame:CGRectMake(15, 0, 57, 44)];
[imageButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"someImage.png"] forState:UIControlStateNormal];
UILabel *titleLabel = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(140, 0, 250, 44)];
[titleLabel setText:#"some title"];
[titleLabel setBackgroundColor:[UIColor clearColor]];
[titleLabel setTextColor:[UIColor whiteColor]];
[titleLabel setFont:[UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:20]];
[self.navigationController.navigationBar addSubview:imageButton];
[self.navigationController.navigationBar addSubview:titleLabel];
Just modify the values in the CGRectMake() to fit your needs.
I'm trying to add a button to a UIview, to cover the whole area of the view.. like this:
-(MBNHomeScreenButton*) initWithImage:(UIImage*)image
andHighlightedImage:(UIImage*)highlightedImage
andTitle:(NSString*)aTitle
withSelector:(SEL)actionButton
forDelegate:(UIViewController*)viewController{
self = [super init];
if (self) {
self.frame = CGRectMake(0, 0, 100, 120);
self.imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image highlightedImage:highlightedImage];
self.imageView.center = self.center;
self.imageView.frame = CGRectMake(10, 0, HS_BUTTON_IMAGE_WIDTH, HS_BUTTON_IMAGE_HEIGHT);
self.imageView.contentMode = UIViewContentModeScaleAspectFit;
self.imageView.highlighted = NO;
[self addSubview:self.imageView];
self.title = [[UILabel alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, HS_BUTTON_IMAGE_HEIGHT, HS_BUTTON_IMAGE_WIDTH + 20, 30)];
self.title.text = aTitle;
self.title.textAlignment = UITextAlignmentCenter;
self.title.textColor = [UIColor whiteColor];
self.title.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
[self addSubview:self.title];
// This creates a transparent button over the view
UIButton *button = [UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeCustom];
//button.backgroundColor = [UIColor redColor];
[button setFrame:self.frame];
[button addTarget:viewController action:actionButton forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
[self addSubview: button];
}
return self;}
In the ViewController I create the View like this:
m_newsHSButton = [[MBNHomeScreenButton alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:NEWS_SHADED_IMAGE]
andHighlightedImage:[UIImage imageNamed:NEWS_HIGHLIGHTED_IMAGE]
andTitle:#"News"
withSelector:#selector(newsButtonPressed)
forDelegate:self];
m_newsHSButton.center = CGPointMake(m_backgroundView.frame.size.width / 4, m_backgroundView.frame.size.height / 4);
[backgroundImgView addSubview:m_newsHSButton];
Still... the newsButtonPressed doesn't get called.
Can you help?
Thanks!

[edit]
Ok... figured it out.. Thanks guys.
It was the fact that I was trying to add the view as a subview to a UIImageView with the last line:
[backgroundImgView addSubview:m_newsHSButton];
Apparently, it won't get touches anymore.
Thanks for the effort guys!
Try making the button a #property or instance variable in your custom view. Then call [m_newsHSButton.button addTarget:self action:actionButton forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside]; from the viewController.
I have created a UIView
- (id)initWithFrame:(CGRect)frame
{
self = [super initWithFrame:frame];
if (self) {
// Initialization code
UIImage *image2 = [UIImage imageNamed:#"pinGreen_v1.png"];
UIImage *image1 = [UIImage imageNamed:#"PinDown1.png"];
UIButton *btn1 = [[UIButton alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 10, 40, 40)];
[btn1 setImage:image2 forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[self addSubview:btn1];
for(int i =1; i<20; i++){
UIButton *btn2 = [[UIButton alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(40 * i, 40, 40, 40)];
[btn2 setImage:image1 forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[btn2 addTarget:self
action:#selector(buttonPressed)
forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
[self addSubview:btn2];
}
}
return self;
}
With the above code I am drawing images in my view. I am loading this view from my view controller. I need to put this view inside a UIScrollview. Where should I create the scroll view? In the above view or the view controller where the above view is created.
The code inside my view controller is :
DrawLineInMyClass *drawLines = [[DrawLineInMyClass alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 400)];
drawLines.backgroundColor = [UIColor blackColor];
[self.view addSubview:drawLines];
[drawLines release];
I should be able to scroll through the images inside my view.
I would create the the scrollview in the viewcontroller and add the view to it.
UIScrollView *scroll = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, self.view.frame.size.width, self.view.frame.size.height)];
scroll.pagingEnabled = YES;
DrawLineInMyClass *drawLines = [[DrawLineInMyClass alloc]initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, frame.size.width, frame.size.height)];
drawLines.backgroundColor = [UIColor blackColor];
[self.view addSubview:drawLines];
[scroll addSubview:drawLines];
scroll.contentSize = CGSizeMake(self.view.frame.size.width*drawLines.frame.size.width, self.view.frame.size.height);
[self.view addSubview:scroll];
[drawLines release];
[scroll release];
I have got a uipickerview which will be populated when pressing a uibutton.
This uipickerview has a uitoolbar control in the top of the uipickerview.
That tool bar has got uibuttons in it.It is working fine until i do the below thing.
I want to have that uittoolbar, on top of the uikeyboard.So I have added , that uitoolbar control as InputAccessoryView.
When i did this, the uitoolbar comes with uikeyboard.that is fine.
but when i tap on the button, which has to show the uipickerview with that toolbar and also needs to resign the toolbar.
So when tap on the button, i have resigned the uikeyboard.
the uipickerview is showing but the toolbar is not visible.
I have been trying to fix this for a long time, but really facing a tough time.
Please let me know.

Try this link
http://blog.swierczynski.net/2010/12/how-to-create-uipickerview-with-toolbar-above-it-in-ios/
It shows how to put a inputAccessoryView on uipicker
i want to bring a view to my view controller with a little animation.
some thing like the Facebook app.
i use this code to bring the uiview to the screen and i want to know how i can do it with little animation:
self.tmpView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(20, 20, 280, 330)];
self.tmpView.backgroundColor = [UIColor yellowColor];
UIImage *tmpImg = [UIImage imageNamed:#"d.png"];
UIImageView *tmpImgView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(10, 10, 100, 100)];
tmpImgView.image = tmpImg;
UIButton *returnBTN = [[UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect] retain];
returnBTN.frame = CGRectMake(10, 110, 100, 25);
returnBTN.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
[returnBTN setTitle:#"חזור" forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[returnBTN addTarget:self action:#selector(backPressed) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
UIButton *orderBTN = [[UIButton buttonWithType:UIButtonTypeRoundedRect] retain];
[orderBTN setTag:tag];
orderBTN.frame = CGRectMake(130, 110, 100, 25);
orderBTN.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor];
[orderBTN setTitle:#"הזמן" forState:UIControlStateNormal];
[orderBTN addTarget:self action:#selector(orderPressed:) forControlEvents:UIControlEventTouchUpInside];
[self.tmpView addSubview:tmpImgView];
[self.tmpView addSubview:returnBTN];
[self.tmpView addSubview:orderBTN];
[self.view addSubview:self.tmpView];
[UIView transitionFromView:viewToMoveOut toView:viewToMoveIn duration:timeOfDuration options:(option1 | option2 | ...) completion:^(BOOL finished){
if (finished){
// code when animation finished.
}
}];
How about this:
addSubview animation
