table view containg image view - iphone

i ve got an imageview ..below the imageview is a table view..which loads the data from server.by default five fields in table view are visible ..works fine..if i m to scroll the table view to view the remaining fields..the scroller rebounces..wat i want is the table view to be fixed and not to rebounce when scrolled ..i d be so greatful if u guys cud help me out..below is the code..

I didn't fully understand your problem. If you want to stop bouncing the table view you can add
yourTableView.bounces = NO;
in ViewDidLoad()

If you need your tableView to be fixed you can disable scrolling.
tableView.scrollEnabled = NO;

UITableViewCell background view/image

Where do I set backgroundImage of tableview cell in cellForRowAt.. And how do I do that ? This is how I did it and it kinda works, but I want to know is that right method for setting backgroundimage (cell.backgroundView) and is it right place inside if(cell==nil) or outside that "if".?

Documentation says
A table view sends this message to its delegate just before it uses cell to draw a row, thereby permitting the delegate to customize the cell object before it is displayed. This method gives the delegate a chance to override state-based properties set earlier by the table view, such as selection and background color. After the delegate returns, the table view sets only the alpha and frame properties, and then only when animating rows as they slide in or out.
When using cellForRowAtIndexPath, there were some weird special cases, where cell customization just didn't work fully as I wanted. No such problems with willDisplayCell.

The best place to set a background view for a cell is the tableView:willDisplayCell:forRowAtIndexPath: method.

Creating A TableVIew Programmatically With Objective-C iOS

I'm new to developing iOS applications and Objective C itself, so I have a probably very simple question.
Currently I have the following method that is called from a ToolBar Button click. The method is designed to create a table view in the frame variable fr.

When you set dataSource and delegate properties for your UITableView, it means, you have to write at least this methods for dataSource:
- (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath;
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section;
If you wouldn't do this, it will be crash. Summary you'll get this (this code may contain syntax or logic errors - I wrote it in notepad):

Instead of setting the view of the UIViewController, add the tableView as a subview.
Instead of:
self.view = tableView;
Do this:
[self.view addSubview:tableView];
This will properly respect the frame that you set.

tableview is crashing on clicking on cell or on scrolling in ios 5

I made a demo empty app and add a navigation controller with the view

Actually I misused the ARC what are the changes I made to make the app run successfully actually it was crashing due to memory leak I reference the class in delegate with local object but the it got released when it tried to add the data on it and when table's delegate and datasource try to add the things in the current class it was released and it throw message from those message instances, I was stuck because I was thinking it is happening due to me having taken an empty kind of application but after adding the lines below in the delegate class I got the problem solved.
What I did in the delegate class in the .h file:
FirstViewControllerViewController *objFirstViewControllerViewController;
#property (strong, nonatomic) FirstViewControllerViewController *objFirstViewControllerViewController;
Then my table started behaving properly and all things that I was having problem in.
Replace your code by this and try:

Since you have set demotableView.delegate = self;
you have to implement the tabelView: didSelectRowAtIndexPath: function which solves the crash on selecting(on Click) a Cell.
To resolve the crash of scrolling, you hav to implement
- (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section;
method.
P.S: In the cellForRowAtIndexPath:, all the lines except cell.textLabel.text should be inside
if(cell == nil){
}
and please follow proper maemory management rules

When i scroll down and then back up to a cell which was previously on screen, the app crashes. Any ideas why?

Why don't tablecells get released?

I simplified my code to test with, and still on the phone my memory usage keeps climbing to a point where the table slows way down.

You're recycling UITableViewCell instances, but you're still creating a new UILabel instance for every row, and adding it to each and every cell. This is where the memory usage comes from. Try something like this:

Since every UITableViewCell has its own standard UILabel (cell.textLabel), do you really need that extra label added to the contentView? If you need custom cells, you might want to consider subclassing UITableViewCell.
