There are instructions on how to scrub the Like button from the Comments plugin for the XFBML version, but not the iFrame one. The Like button bundled with the Comments plugin is redundant since we already have a share bar.
Anyone know how?
The first version of the Facebook comments plugin would allow you to specify a custom css style sheet where you could remove this. The newest second version of this plugin does not allow for this so you won't be able to modify, aside from shrinking the iframe that holds the comment box.

I successfully implemented facebook comments plugin in my website. But it only allows users to post only text data.
I searched a lot but unable to find resources for these question:
How to add upload Image feature to this plugin?
Is there a way to make the uses post he comment just by pressing enter rather than clicking Post button(Remove Post button and make enter keyboard key as default submit button)
Incase the ans is No for any above questions:
Please suggest any plugin's that helps me to achieve those features. The users should be able to post comments and upload images with out signup to that plugin providers
How to add upload Image feature to this plugin?
Not possible.
Facebook has not implemented image upload for the Comments plugin, and you can not “add” anything to it yourself.

No.
There is not configuration option for this, and since the plugin runs inside an iframe from a different domain, you don’t have any access to it via JavaScript either.
As of Sept 2010 FB has an "add image" icon on the FB plugin, but it does not work all the time. Last night it worked fine on 20 or so pages, and today on 5 more. Then just now, on a recently modified page, it no longer works. Text only.
I just want to ask a simple question about facebook like box http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box/ I just want to remove the fan page profile photo.. Is there a solution for this? Thanks!
First: It is against the facebook rules to change or hide things in the social plugins.
That being said, afaik it is not possible anymore to use custom css in the social plugins. A long time ago you could pass the absolute URL of a css file to the plugin code but it does not work anymore.
I would recommend using a simple Like button. If you really need the stream of the page too, you could just use an app to read them by yourself, in that case even with your own design.
I just thought to answer this question as someone else might need this information in the future. All you need to do is reduce the width of the facebook like box. That’s it. I have done that in my website www.bringhopes.ca.
You can add the following CSS to hide the image
img.profileimage
{
display:none;
}
I'm trying to add a link to allow a user to refresh the Comments plugin on my page so they can see other posts by other people.
I want to do it without refreshing the full page.
There's a html5 player on the page playing audio, hence me not wanting to interrupt that player.
Currently I'm using the standard -
I've tried the jQuery method of giving the div an id and having a header script which counts to 10 and reloads the div widget, it seems to reload the widget, but it doesn't update the contents of the comments plugin to show other's posts, just ones you've added yourself. To see all the updates you have to refresh the page fully, which I don't want to do.
I'm trying to avoid iFrames because of the height issues and extra scroll bars, etc.
Any ideas would be appreciated
I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to do, but you can use the FB.XFBML.parse method to refresh plugins.
The only thing is that you'll need to first remove the old plugin from the dom, then add the new html5/xfbml placeholders (what you get from the comments plugin page when clicking "get code") and then use the FB.XFBML.parse method.
Since 2 weeks ago it worked, and still works for old urls. but now for every new post the like button remain at zero, and if i press the button it blinks 1 but go back to zero immediately.
My site: http://arielmartini.com/
An old url that (still) works: http://arielmartini.com/2011-06-30-bixiga70
A new url that no longer works: http://arielmartini.com/2011-07-02-romulo
Even if I put the url here it doesn't work (try with the 2 url above - "URL to Like" field).
It appears that you're using both the old Facebook "Share" and the newer Facebook "Like" buttons. However Facebook Share (via static.ak.fbcdn.net/connect.php/js/ is the old SDK and is being deprecated).
You'll just want to use the new SDK (which you are correctly including) at http://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js.
I believe removing the conflicting "share" button will solve your problem.
Looking at the url you posted, there is a javascript console error (see image) which is causing the javascript code from continuing execution.
To fix it, remove this line of code from your wordpress site, or disable the plugin that is adding this line:
<script type='text/javascript' src='http://arielmartini.com/wp-content/plugins/fbconnect/fbconnect.js?pluginver=99&ver=3.1.4'></script>
You can't load both the deprecated fbconnect.js file as well as the new Facebook javascript sdk .js file that you load on line 435. If anything is relying on the old deprecated library, I would suggest upgrade as soon as possible because Facebook is killing deprecated functionality all the time.
The problem was that i didn't had open graph tags on my page. Using this plugin fixed it. You can also analyse the page using this link.
I'm developing a WordPress plugin to show above or bottom the posts Facebook like and send buttons.
Unfortunately when is also activated a plugin for Facebook share button there is a Javascript error (FB.provide is not a function) and like and send buttons don't appear.
For example this happens in this page: http://www.pasqualepuzio.it/2011/04/plugin-facebook-like-and-send-button/
How can I solve this issue?
Thank you very much
I ´ve faced the same problem and it happens if you add the script twice on the site (http://connect.facebook.net/sv_SE/all.js)
I understood that part that we cant have all.js twice but I want to have Facebook Share Button and Facebook Like Button.
According to Docs, I need to include these two JS Files.
https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js
http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/connect.php/js/FB.Share
Now, If I include both Firebug will give me same error "FB.provide is not a function". If I remove either of them then Like or Share button wont work.
I can do iFrame version but I have HTML Encoding issues with iFrame Version. I am programmatic generating HTML Response.
Any idea, how to approach?
There is a workaround for this: instead of placing the javascript Fb.Share within the same page where you are loading the Javascript SDK, use an Iframe with the first and set it in the second.
