Does anyone know if it's possible to connect to APN via IP-adressed instead of via URL? Or do they use round robin?
In that case, what is the adresses for the push and feedback services (prod. and sandbox).
Thankful for advice.
I'm not sure about round-robin IP addresses, but why do you want to use them? By resolving them with DNS you are independent from changing IP adresses:
Sandbox: gateway.sandbox.push.apple.com
Production gateway.push.apple.com
Yes, you could use ip addresses. but we should avoid the risk that apple change the server address. domain name is fixed. so please use the domain name as possible as you can.

I know that the Gmail MX (Mail Exchanger) server is at gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com, but I can't find the port.
Port 25 worked for me earlier, but now it seems to have broken. Every time I try to connect, the connection times out. Is there a TLS/SSL port that I could use instead?
Also, is there a default TLS/SSL port for all MX servers?
According to https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/gmail/lJZECWhPBFM, I am probably not able to connect due to a lack of a DNS address.
Thanks to everyone for helping me get to that realization.
It is 587(TLS), and 465(SSL). You can take a look at the google document.
I need to run an XMPP server for IM with end-to-end encryption and voice calling. I'm trying to set up Prosody, but is it possible to run an XMPP server without a domain name? Without own DNS server and VPN network between clients?
Short Answer: Yes.
You can still configure a XMPP domain for your server. According to the standard, it doesn't has to be an DNS Name or IP address. Something like myserver is fine. Quoting RFC 7622 ยง 3.2:
The domainpart for every XMPP service MUST be a fully qualified domain
name (FQDN), an IPv4 address, an IPv6 address, or an unqualified
hostname (i.e., a text label that is resolvable on a local network).
But if you don't have a DNS name, then clients won't know automatically how to reach your server. Which means you have to configure the IP address and the port in every client.
You can use an IP address instead of a domain name, but if that address will be changing on a regular basis, you'll probably need modifications to standard XMPP servers and clients, as they'll not be expecting that.
I went through many Prosody tutorials and I think it is not possible to set up server based only on IP address and using SSL. I even have not found how to configure Prosody on local network with SSL and resolvable name like raspberry.local. My client always gave server not found, or incorrect communication.
We are currently encountering the following error when trying to connect to a Cloud SQL instance: Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 0.
This is a familiar error, and as detailed here usually means the IP address needs to be whitelisted. However, we believe we have done so.
Is there a way to see connection attempts and their IP addresses that have been made (and refused) to the Cloud SQL instance?
Currently we don't expose that information but it is something we would like fix. :-)
According to #Razvan, as of September 2014, this information isn't exposed.
We ended up using CIDR blocks to search the space and find the actual IP address. This is unsatisfying, obviously, but it's a way to pin down the problem.
If other people want to sanity check that the problem is their IP is being refused, you can add 0.0.0.0/0 in order to accept all ranges and try to connect. If it works, you know what is the problem.
Be absolutely sure to remove this as an accepted range, after you are done, however!
Figured I might help someone who stumbles here.
Had exactly the same issue essentially trying to connect to a GCP SQL instance from a hosting provider.
Whitelist the IP address that is shown in my cpanel and it will not connect. (It used to, but the provider made some changes with their infrastructure lately and it stopped working)
put 0.0.0.0/0 in my Cloud Platform whitelist and it connects no problem.
So now I know that my cpanel IP is not the IP trying to connect to GCP.
After some hair pulling (figured that the bare metal server had a different IP than my cpanel IP, it did, but this also didn't work.)
finally tried the IP address for the name servers that point to my domain and bam. All is good.
If you are facing this issue, try your name server (usually something like NS1.hostingprovider.com etc..). I put both the NS1 and NS2 ip's in the whitelist and we are working fine.
Can anyone tell me how to get the machine name where the server is hosted
i know its IP address.
I know it can be sent from the server itself but still was curious about how it could be done from the Iphone.
Thnks in advance

I assume you're trying to do a reverse DNS lookup. There are some web-based services which you could use from an iPhone. For example: http://www.ipchecking.com/
However, if the IP address is being used by more than one server, this may not give you helpful results. It's also possible that the service you're looking for on the server could respond only to a name different than the one listed.
I like to change DNS address of iPhone through my application. Is it possible ? Any one let me know how i can do it, it will be very helpful. Thanks in advance.
If by DNS address you mean the IP address of the DNS server the iPhone uses for queries to resolve the domain name you provide, then it is not possible in a non-jailbreaked device. The IP address of the DNS server is provided to the iPhone through DHCP. So you would therefore have to change the DHCP settings in the setup of the network you connect to, eg. the Wifi access point.
If you want to change the IP address assigned to the iPhone (and possibly provided to other devices through DNS) then again you would have to modify the DHCP settings on your server. This IP address is provided to the iPhone through DHCP and possibly coordinated with the DNS server in the network.
Unfortunately it's not possible from an app. Oh, and I believe you mean IP address, right?
there was a trick to reset an ip address by turning airplane mode on and off, but the ip address is assigned to you by the network you are connecting to. In the apps you don't have a way to request a "reset" like this. this is done on the system level and not exposed as a method an app can use
google up netinfo+ its an app for setting dns on iphone
