I ran into difficulties with SSCollectionView and SSCollectionViewItem.
First of all I'd like to get it initialized from IB. But that won't work for me.
I have a SelectFooViewController which is:
#interface SelectFooViewController : SSCollectionViewController { ... }
and am using it as filesOwner of the corresponding XIB.
SelectFooViewController* selectFooVC = [[SelectFooViewController alloc]
initWithNibName:#"SelectFooViewController" bundle:nil];
But since it wont work I had to initialize its properties inside viewDidLoad() myself.
Furthermore I am not able to display anything except the backgroundColor of my SSCollectionViewItems. What I want is a textLabel and an image .
- (SSCollectionViewItem *)collectionView:(SSCollectionView *)aCollectionView itemForIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
SSCollectionViewItem *item = [[[SSCollectionViewItem alloc] initWithStyle:SSCollectionViewItemStyleImage reuseIdentifier:itemIdentifier] autorelease];
SSLabel* label = [[SSLabel alloc] init];
[label setText:#"foo"];
item.imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"foo.png"]];
item.textLabel = label;
[label autorelease];
return item;
}
I can confirm that the delegate methods (for determining the number Of rows, sections and such) are implemented and working as expected. But my items are all empty - but react onclick with the expected popup.
Does anyone see an error in what I did? - Thanks...
EDIT: I was also not able to display a local image by changing SSCatalog project
I just figured out, that I have to set the frame of each property (textLabel, detailTextLabel and imageView) myself. That fixed it.
When you create instance SelectFooViewController just insert this line
selectFooVC.view;
or
selectFooVC.view.hidden = NO;
And then add it to the view.
This is because the view is not initalised until you explicitly access it. Hence your items are loaded only when you click it and not immediately. You can call it a hack but i don't call it one. :-)

I am trying to implement a suggestion offered by already answered question, but I am stuck on getting it to work, so looking for some help.
Here is the post I am trying to implement: http://stackoverflow.com/a/3067579/589310
I am trying to use the solution offered by "ridale" on how to make a "detailLabel" editable as part of a TableView. I hope it will allow me to directly edit a cell and enter a number. It doesn't seem too common as a UI, but "SmartRecord" does it and I want to emulate it.
Here is the only line that gives me an error:
UITextField *tmpView = [self detailLabel:indexPath];
I get this error:
Instance method -detailLabel: not found (return type defaults to 'id')
I assume it is because my self is different than the original poster.
I added a TableView directly to my existing controller. It is not a TableViewController directly:
#interface EditViewController : UIViewController
{
IBOutlet UITableView *tableSettings;
}
I can fill the table and interact with it, so I know it works (at some level anyway).
I have tried changing self to my table control or the cell directly:
UITextField *tmpView = [tableSettings detailLabel:indexPath];
I can't find anything that responds to the "detailLabel" method.
I am also not sure if the proposed solution is complete or uses more code not shown.
This is the only error I get, so I am hopeful once I solve it, it will work ;-)
-(UITextField*)detailLabel:(NSIndexPath*)indexPath is not present in UITableView or any other classes provided by Apple.
The frame position is just for sample. Modify that such that it would come in place of your detailLabel.
You have to write your own method which returns a UITextField, something as following
-(UITextField*)detailLabel:(NSIndexPath*)indexPath
{
UITextField *textField = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 100, 40)];
textField.delegate = self;
//assuming myList is array of NSString
NSString* str = [myList objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
textField.text = str;
return [textField autorelease];
}
I'm implementing a TTTableViewController with a searchViewController part, and I'm running into issues when displaying the results of the search in the search's TableView.
If I add TTTableTextItems to the datasource items property, it works fine, but if I try to add a TTTableCaptionItem or a TTTableImageItem or any custom cell I've created, the rendering is messed up.
Can anyone confirm that it's possible to use custom table cells in a searchViewController and perhaps point me in the right direction for how to make it work?
I've attached 3 screen shot to show what's working and what's not working.
No. 1: Works with this code:
[self.items addObject:[TTTableTextItem itemWithText:[item objectForKey:#"title"]]];
No 2. Breaks the layout with this code:
[self.items addObject:[TTTableCaptionItem itemWithText:[item objectForKey:#"title"]
caption:[item objectForKey:#"excerpt"]]];
No. 3 Also breaks the layout with this code:
[self.items addObject:[TTTableImageItem itemWithText:[item objectForKey:#"title"]
imageURL:[item objectForKey:#"thumbnail"]]];
OK, I figured it out. The key is setting the the variableHeightRows property to YES in the TTTableViewController that you're using as the search controller. Below is the code I've used.
TTTableViewController* searchController = [[[TTTableViewController alloc] init] autorelease];
searchController.dataSource = [[[MagazineSearchDataSource alloc] init] autorelease];
searchController.variableHeightRows = YES;
self.searchViewController = searchController;
self.tableView.tableHeaderView = _searchController.searchBar;
In my iphone app, I have created some UITextField in scrollView dynamically. And added one button in xib. On that button's TouchUpInside event, I opened UIImagePickercontroller to open photo library and taking selected image on UIImageView.
Now when modalview is dissmissed, values in my UITextField disappears.
How do I retain the UITextField values?
txt = [[UITextField alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(10.0f, 30.0f, 200.0f, 30.0f)];
[txt addTarget:self action:#selector(keyDown:)forControlEvents:UIControlEventEditingDidEndOnExit];
txt.textColor = [UIColor blackColor];
txt.borderStyle = UITextBorderStyleBezel;
txt.autocorrectionType = UITextAutocorrectionTypeNo;
[fieldArray addObject:txt];
Using for loop I am adding txt to NSMutableArray fieldArray.
Here is the code where I fetch values from TextFields
NSMutableArray *insertValues = [[NSMutableArray alloc]init];
//Taking values from textFields
for (int i=1; i<=nooffields; i++) {
UITextField *tf = (UITextField *)[self.view viewWithTag:i];
NSLog(#"TF : %#",tf.text);
if (tf.text.length<=0) {
tf.text=#"";
}
[insertValues addObject:[NSString stringWithFormat:#"'%#'",tf.text]];
}
EDIT :
And also when I display values from database in this textFields and try to edit it. It gives me null values.
What may be the reason? If there any other alternatives? please help me
UITextField *textField=[[UITextField alloc]init];
[textField setFrame:CGRectMake(x,y, width, hight)];
[textField setBorderStyle:UITextBorderStyleRoundedRect];
[self.view addSubview:textField];
The information that your scrollview uses to get populated should be stored outside the scrollview, in a NSMutableDictionary for example. So everytime cellForRowAtIndexPath gets called it can retrieve the information from that source. So I advise you to store the UITextField's text within the dictionary. You can index it by its tag number. That way you won't loose whatever it contained.
I hope it helps you
Cheers
I finally got a work around for my problem.
I am temporarily storing my textField's values into database when presentModalViewController is called.
These values I retrieve back into the textFields on viewWillAppear.
This may not be a very efficient solution but it worked in my case.
Hope this helps someone.
Thanks for all your responses.
I have a UIToolbar that I set up using IB with three buttons, left, middle and right. In some situations I would like to not display the middle button. Does anybody know of a way to hide a specific button on inside a UIToolBar? There is no hide property, all I can find is setEnable but this still leaves the button causing users to wonder what its purpose is. I would like to only display it in situations that it actually has a use.
Thanks in advance!
Reset the items:
-(void)setItems:(NSArray *)items animated:(BOOL)animated
You can get the current items using the items property, then just remove the one you don't want to show and pass in the new NSArray.
As you can see, you can also animate it to make it clear to the user.
Rather than guessing at the index, I added an IBOutlet for the UIBarButtonItem and then removed it by name:
NSMutableArray *toolBarButtons = [self._toolbar.items mutableCopy];
[toolBarButtons removeObject:self._selectButton]; // right button
[self._toolbar setItems:toolBarButtons];
And of course it helps to connect the outlets in the designer :)
This is how i did it.. too much headache but its the best i could come up with :
NSArray *toolBarArray = toolBar.items;
NSMutableArray *newToolBarArray = [NSMutableArray arrayWithArray:toolBarArray];
[newToolBarArray removeObjectAtIndex:2];
[newToolBarArray removeObjectAtIndex:1];
//remove whatever buttons you want to.
NSArray *finalTabBarArray =[[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:newToolBarArray, nil];
[toolBar setItems:[finalTabBarArray objectAtIndex:0] animated:NO];
I know it is quite old thread for but those who look this page for solution, here you go :
With iOS7, you can use this approach to show/hide your toolbar button :
if(// your code Condition)
{ self.toolbarBtn1.enabled = YES;
self.toolbarBtn1.tintColor = nil; }
else
{ self.toolbarBtn1.enabled = NO;
self.toolbarBtn1.tintColor = [UIColor clearColor]; }
This does not work here because the array you are sending with setItem is not what the function expects.
I had to replace the line:
NSArray *finalTabBarArray = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:newToolBarArray, nil];
with this one:
NSArray *finalTabBarArray = [newToolBarArray copy];
Then it works perfectly.
Mohit's answer is one that I have used, but you dont need to specifically make it a NSArray that the toolbar sets. You can just set the array of items as a NSMutableArray. No real advantage that I am aware off but its a few lines less code. And that way you can take the array and move about UIButton objects as you would any other array with objects and then just reset the toolbar with that mutable array.
[newToolBarArray removeObjectAtIndex:2];
[newToolBarArray removeObjectAtIndex:1];
[toolBar setItems:newToolBarArray];
So i have a:
arrangeList = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(attributesPadding, y, popoverWidth - 2* attributesPadding, popoverHeight - y - attributesPadding) style:UITableViewStylePlain];
That is the tableview that i want to connect to a controller, and i also have added this tableview to a uiview that i have animate onto the screen in based on a click. So i subclassed uiviewcontroller and created this :
arrangeListViewController = [[[ArrangeListViewController alloc] init] autorelease];
Now how do i make it so that the 'arrangeList' is populated based on 'arrangeListViewController'?
Is this approach way wrong ? any help is welcome
I think you'll want to look at something like:
arrangeListViewController.tableView = arrangeList;
[arrangeList release]; //avoid leaking the arrangeList
Personally, I prefer setting this up in InterfaceBuilder, but it'll work programatically as well.
Hope this helps. Andrew.
