i am developing an application for andriod and iphone in the Adobe Flash Builder, how can i make a button that when is pressed the phone(doesnt matter which phone) forwards the number to the phones dialer or makes it VOIP call, thanks in advance :)
I think you're looking for something like the tel link: Inserting a pause into a tel:// link
I've not tried it, but putting this into the htmlText of a TextField and clicking on it should work
Android has a similar functionality I think:

Android WebView "tel:" links show web page not found

I don't like how my Android WebView app displays on some devices, so when I found out that crosswalk-project could fix that, I went to crosswalk-project.org but the website was down. Is there a way around it or an alternative to it?
Or will using WebChromeClient instead of WebViewClient fix it?
I want my WebView app to display the same across all devices and the Javascript "share" feature in one of the web pages of the website should work.
I'm using Microsoft Outlook to build html email with inserted pictures (jpgs). When I apply a hyperlink to the images, they work fine on PCs running Outlook, Nook and iPod Touch. They don't work on iPhones. What happens on the iphone is when the hyperlinks are pressed, a screen comes up with several options like Copy, Print, Facebook..., but no Open like I see on an iPod Touch. I don't know how to correct this. Can anyone help?
Thanks
Have you checked the image type? Maybe it's not supported by iPhone.
Where does this image appear (web browser, email)? Some apps require specific command to fire an event on clicking.
If it's in mobile safari, is it a simple <a href link? http: protocol? Is it going anywhere that apple redirects (google maps, itunes, etc). or is it dependant on Javascript or flash?
I am wondering how can I open the send SMS application by using a web control of a HTML5 page on Android and iPhone. I want to use the device native SMS sending app, with a prepopulated value from the web.
Further to other answers I can confirm that smsto:555:bodytext does not work on an iPhone running iOS5.
What does work (and I've tested it) on Android is the format:
sms:444?body=hello
Example:
Tap to say hello!
On iPhone the ?body=hello will prevent it working at all, and you should use just sms:555 instead.
sms:555
Example
Tap to text us!
I have tested the below and it works:
Using HTML Anchor tag:
Subscribe
Using JavaScript:
window.open('sms:111?body=SUBSCRIBE', '_self');
With Android 3.0 SDK Google has started exposing API in HTML5 for device access. An example is listed here. It may not be enough for what you seek to do.
I dont know enough about iphone to advise either way.
I have written an app that allows the user to take a photo with the camera capture some other information then attach the photo to an email and send it. But on the Motorola Droid the camera is started but the OK button will not return control to my application. The cancel button is the action that will return control to my app, even the back button does not work either.
Is it more likely that this is a hardware or software problem and does anyone have any suggestions on how to debug and or solve this problem.
Thanks,
If you are using an Intent, this may be the source of the problem. If you are using the API, I would make sure your layout is correct.
It would be helpful to know which level of the Android API you are targeting and which version of Android the Motorola Droid is running. Have you tested this on other devices? In the emulator?
Safari on iPhone has a feature that lets you create a shortcut on your home screen for a web page. Is it possible for other apps to implement similar functionality? I'd like to give my users a quick way to jump to a specific item in my iPhone application.
There is no officially sanctioned way to do this. Third-party apps on the iPhone have very limited scope for interaction with other parts of the system. They can look into the address book and the photo library and they can invoke other applications with certain arguments but they can't do anything with the home screen.
Not sure.. but there is application like 'One Tap Dial' that is doing it tho
I spent few hours to find ways to this - seems only safari has this capability
'One Tap Dial' eventually uses Safari to get this done
