I have installed the Beyond CVS Eclipse Plug-In version 0.8.9
I use eclipse 3.6.2 (Helios), windows 7 64 bit, beyond compare 3, subclipse.
I configured the external Diff/Merge tool:
But when I compare:
I get the following error:
The path specified for beyond compare in the first screenshot exists, there are no problems there. But for somewhat reason, the error says otherwise. I can't figure out what is the problem.
The UI you show for setting the external diff/merge is a Subclipse feature. It only applies to launching an external tool for resolving conflicts after update or merge. The BeyondCompare plugin perhaps has some UI in Eclipse to tell it where the executable is located.
Check your error log; maybe an exception was logged which tells you more.

I am Using eclipse juno.I need to integrate Harvest(CA-SCM) plugin into eclipse.I followed the Harvest Documentation but CA-SCM plugin was not integrated properly in eclipse.
Anyone please guide me to integrate CA-SCM with eclipse Juno.
I'm getting the following error in CA-SCM console.
Unable to intialize CA SCM. Please ensure that all required components are installed.
Please help me to resolve the error.
I know this is a little late but maybe it will help anyone else with the same issue. In order to fix this you also need to install the CA SCM Workbench (the standalone tool). The Eclipse plugin looks for certain libraries on your PATH that are only installed with the SCM Workbench.
Problem resolved! I've got a very good answer from the Harvest guys. Those are the 3 possible reasons for the problem- check that:
1) Are scm related variables in the beginning of the path variable?
2) If SCM installed is 32 bit, you have to use 32 bit eclipse and if you have SCM 64 bit, you need to use 64 bit eclipse. (that was my problem)
3) The final one is SCM plugin for eclipse should be the same version as SCM client.
The needed path variables:
are also listed here: https://docops.ca.com/ca-harvest-scm/13-0/en/installing/install-the-ca-harvest-scm-web-interface
but mainly it seems that those 3 are important:
for version 13:
SCM Home : C:\Program Files\CA\SCM
PEC: C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\SharedComponents\PEC\bin;
If you are in r12.6 add the below one also in the beginning of PATH:
ETPKI
Restart the windows ,if possible open eclipse with a new workspace (beware of data loss)
Eclipese crashes on one (and only it appears) intellensense.
typing "Display.getW" (towards the Display.GetWidth() function) as I type W eclipse reproduceably crashes. Trying random other functions and classes yield no problems.
Any ideas as to what this might be?

The only bugs related to a crash on auto-completion all mention Linux platform and an issue with xulrunner library.
See for instance bug 236724:
You don't need to download an older version of xulrunner since the problem is merely that the 64bit version of the library is being loaded rather than the 32bit library.
To rectify this, just add the following line to your eclipse.ini file which points to the 32bit version of the xulrunner library:
-Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.XULRunnerPath=<path_to_32bit_xulrunner_lib>
On RHEL5 for example, the path would be /usr/lib/xulrunner-1.9.
So you would in this case either need an older version of xulrunner, or fixing its path.
On Windows, on the other hand, that may be a good opportunity to fill in a new bug report.
Update February 2012, Raedwald mentions in the comments:
The relevant Eclipse FAQ "Can I specify which XULRunner installation gets used?"
This can also fix the problem if you provide as the XULRunnerPath a path-name that does not point to an xulrunner library directory.
What happens is that Eclipse instead falls back to using an internal renderer.
I believe this is the only solution if your O/S (such as RedHat 5.8) upgrades you to a FireFox version that uses xulrunner-2 but does not provide webkitgtk.
This, and related problems, are caused by incompatibilities between Eclipse and xulrunner, which is a component of Fire Fox. I came across this problem today, after updating Fire Fox on my RHEL 5 development computer.
The "intellisense" (content assist) feature, and other features of Eclipse, are a rendering of HTML. Eclipse tries to hand-off this rendering work to a system component. If your web browser is Fire Fox, Eclipse traditionally uses xulrunner, which is intimately associated with Fire Fox. It does so by calling a C API through a native library. However, that API is subject to change by the Mozilla developers, and different versions of xulrunner have had incompatible APIs. In particular, Eclipse can not use "xulrunner 2", which is the version in recent versions of Fire Fox.
Newer versions of Eclipse try not to use xulrunner at all, but instead try to use webkitgtk. However, if that is not present, or Eclipse is configured not to use it, Eclipse will fall back to using xulrunner. Which can then crash, because Eclipse does not detect that the available xulrunner is incompatible. The Eclipse developers recognize this as a Bad Thing (it is Bug 262929), but it no yet fixed (still in Eclipse 3.7).
Therefore, if webkitgtk is present on your computer, it might be better to tell Eclipse to use it. The Eclipse FAQ says how to do this: set the Java property org.eclipse.swt.browser.UseWebKitGTK to true. You can do so in your eclipse.ini file (as told elsewhere) by adding the line -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.UseWebKitGTK=true at the end of the file.
When I try to install Eclipse plugins, I often get an error with details like:
An error occurred while collecting
items to be installed No repository
found containing:
org.eclipse.equinox.concurrent/osgi.bundle/1.0.0.v20090520-1800
This is clearly a bug in Eclipse. The bundle I'm installing doesn't need any special version of anything, it's just a profiler plugin that works in literally any build of Eclipse 3.4. Refusing to install my plugin is not an acceptable course of action. Eclipse should stop showing this message and install the plugin.
I'm not sure exactly what error the Eclipse developers made, but I can see that the version compatibility checker is absolutely strict, and it should not be. Either it is incorrectly evaluating the required bundles, and failing as a result of its own blunder, or the version requirements of the bundles are loosely defined in a way that the version checker does not really understand.
So, is there a way to simply disable this version checker? The thing is crippling my Eclipse install. Frankly, Eclipse would be better if the thing were completely deleted from the application. We only need it to choose the correct version of existing plugins for binding OSGi services. We don't need our development tools to kibitz about whether a plugin seems proper.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Byron
As mentioned in the wiki
The message indicates that the Eclipse provisioning system P2 has found meta data to install a plug-in but can not locate an artifact repository that provides the required downloads
It is suggested to remove update sites and re-add the same update sites, to trigger a refresh, but in your case, it is not your plugin update site which is involved.
There is indeed a bug (236437) with Eclipse 3.4 about "Lost artifact repositories". It has been solved in Eclipse3.5, but if you cannot use that version, there may be a workaround:
1) export the update site listing to bookmarks.xml file (Software Updates->Manage Sites->Export)
2) stop eclipse
3) remove configuration/.settings/org.eclipse.equinox.p2.*.prefs files
4) start eclipse
5) import the bookmarks.xml file (Software Updates->Manage sites->Import) that was exported in step 1
Comment #59 helped me fix my updating problem, thanks!
Though, I think maybe it was enough to just delete the configuration/.settings/org.eclipse.equinox.p2.*.prefs files as I have a feeling that the problem was already resolved before I imported the bookmarks file (things happened a bit in parallel for me here).
Note for Eclipse3.5 users:
I am seeing this in 3.5.1 when trying to install stuff from an old style update
site when I include site.xml:
http://www.perforce.com/downloads/http/p4-wsad/install/site.xml
If I remove site.xml I can install things fine.
even though there was no error when installing Subclipse in Eclipse. I won't see the SVN perspective at all?
I have tried with "Eclipse Classic 3.5.1" and with "Eclipse for PHP Developers".
After downloading and unzipping the packages I used Eclipse's "Install Software" mechanism to install Subclipse 1.6.x. I followed the steps described here: http://www3.math.tu-berlin.de/jreality/mediawiki/index.php/Subclipse_installation_in_eclipse_galileo.
But after Eclipse re-starts I don't get any SVN Repository perspective? I have tried to un-install/re-install all the software components many times now. Finally after 3 hours of trying I am giving up. Does anyone have any hint what I am missing?
Thanks!
Peter
I had the same problem. I use Windows 7 64 bits OS. I clean read-only flag of eclipse folder in C:\Program Files (x86) and give full access right to all users on my PC. I reinstalled it from update site and it works.
This is a known bug with subclipse: http://subclipse.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=992
EDIT For anyone keeping track of this, it looks like Eclipse Helios SR1 may have fixed the issue. I haven't tested it myself yet, but by the sounds of the discussion at https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=322929 it should now be working.
I just had this same issue with Ubuntu. It turned out to be permissions. Once I gave write permissions to everywhere in my eclipse installation and then reinstalled subclipse, its views and so forth appeared, just like magic.
I don't know what you are looking for. But after installing the Subclipse plugin, you should have a new entry in the File | New | Project dialog. Something along the lines of "Checkout project from SVN"
Then when you hit continue, you can enter your SVN repository details, check the branch you are interested in, etc. After checking out a project, you can right click on it and go to the "Team" submenu to get the features provided by Subclipse like check in code, diff, merge, etc.
I ran into the exact same problem too. I installed both Subclipse and GWT/GAE plugins and couldn't find any evidence of them after installation.
I'm on Windows 7 and had installed Eclipse 3.5 SR2 into C:\Program Files (x86)\eclipse-3.5. I also put my workspace in C:\Program Files (x86)\eclipse-3.5\workspace. When I was checking things I noticed there was a lock icon on the C:\Program Files (x86)\eclipse-3.5\workspace.
I reinstalled Eclipse to C:\dev\eclipse and the workspace to C:\dev\eclipse\workspace. After that the installation of the plugins went without a hitch and I could see the SVN Repository Exploring perspective (no idea why some of the other posters claim this perspective doesn't exist). I suspect it was some sort of permissions problem on the directories.
Another way to check and see if the whole thing was installed correctly is to go to the SVN Repositories view. Go to Window -> Show View -> Other, and then search for SVN. If you see a bunch of SVN views like "Repositories," Subclipse is installed.
I had this problem due to some kind of incompatibility between Subclipse and Android ADT plugins. One answer suggested yoxos which gives you all your eclipse plugins from one central repository.
Had the same problem. I work on Linux, and when I installed eclipse in /usr/local/eclipse, Subclipse did not show up. The solution was to install Eclipse locally, e.g. in /home/user/eclipse. Now Subclipse (and other plugins too) worked!
Edit: guess it could be the same on Windows.
I think this is due to some incompatibilities between the packages of subclipse and the gwt 2.x plugin and android... as this started happen to me after I upgrade to v 2.0 of gwt back in the day.
The same issue repeats both on Mac and Windows... and it seems no fix has been released.
Now the only way I've found to move on with my work is to remove subclipse and install the latest subversive plugin instead.
http://www.eclipse.org/subversive/
I know this ain't subclipse but it works very similar and no issues with gwt nor android plugins.
it worked for me and so I hope it works for you in the mean time.
cheers,
G.
I'm trying to install the WTP (web platform tools) to my Eclipse installation so I can get the XSL transformations working. The base Eclipse they installed for me here was the plain Java IDE (the splash screen says "Ganymede" if that means anything). Looking at this site, the URL to get the download should be here: http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/updates/ ...But when I give that URL to the Eclipse update manager, I get an error telling me: "No repository found at http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/updates/"
Anyone else had this problem? Anyone know what might be up? Anyone know how to get the xsl-transform plugin installed?
EDIT:
I should have mentioned before that I want to find a way to do this without installing any new instances of Eclipse. This process will eventually be sent to several other developers who already have Eclipse (same version that I'm testing with) and I'd rather just do an in-place upgrade rather than have everyone go and install a new product.
UPDATE:
I found another plugin, Xcarecrows 4 XML which can also do XSL transforms. The interface is ugly and seems more than a little quirky, but it's also a small download, and at least it runs and transforms. Unless I can find an easy way to get WTP working, I'll probably just stick with this.
You can try and install WTP through the main Ganymede update site:
http://download.eclipse.org/releases/ganymede/
Or you can download the latest Java EE bundle and use that instead of your current Eclipse
(do NOT unpack it on top of your current Eclipse, but unpack it elsewhere, to test that second installation: it will come with WTP inside)
Note: check then "How do I start Eclipse" to point to your existing workspace in order to see all your previous project in your new Eclipse installation.
As mentioned in your link, XSL Tools is now part of WTP (for Eclipse 3.5 Galileo), and that may explain why your Eclipse Ganymede (3.4) might not interpret correctly the P2 update site for WTP (P2 being the new Eclipse provisioning mechanism introduced late in the 3.4 release cycle)
For Eclipse 3.5, you have an XSL Tools installation illustrated here:
But Eclipse3.4 is more likely to be compatible with XSLT0.5 and you will need a separate installation, because "XSL Tools" wasn't yet part of WTP.
I am not sure, however, where to find such an installation package within the Eclipse projects.
Use the following update site :
For Juno :
http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/repository/juno/
For Indigo :
http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/repository/indigo/
I'm assuming you don't have any firewall exceptions for Eclipse right?
The site for the WTP update is indeed the one you've listed. Maybe post a screenshot? You've added it specifically to your remote update site list?
Either way try a manual update which should be more reliable and get you up and running for now.
All-In-One Update (Eclipse IDE included):
Go to the Eclipse Download site.
Grab the all-in-one package: Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers
Install, have a coffee and enjoy. (WTP is included)
Manual Update your existing installation of Eclipse:
Download the applicable WTP source package to your desktop
Shutdown Eclipse
Extract the package to your Eclipse installation directory
Startup Eclipse. (WTP is now available)
Follow the steps in the FAQ at http://wiki.eclipse.org/WTP_FAQ#How_do_I_install_WTP.3F .
Are you behind a proxy? If so, you need to make sure you configure your proxy settings in Eclipse.
Window > Preferences
General > Network Connections
Ok, I can probably get it working if I do a clean install of Eclipse. I can do that on my machine, but not the other team members' machines (at least not without going through many emails and paper work) so I'm going to say that XCarecrows 4 XML is the solution. It is able to do XSL transformations in Eclipse 3.4 and doesn't require anything else to be installed. Since XSLT is all I need, the plugin will do.
you can use the marketplace:
https://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/eclipse-java-ee-developer-tools-0
like the site says:
Drag to Install!Drag to your running Eclipse Workspace.
