How should I template my site in Eclipse - eclipse

I'm using Eclipse for the first time, wondering which way to go about templating it? I know a little about tiles and jsp's, zero about databases.
the site:
static header, nav, sidebar, and footer
a few different content jsp's
main question is --> I have one content section with one layout but 100's of varying jsp's...how should I go about this?
thanks

I'm not sure how Struts and databases are related to this, but basically, <jsp:include> is the best what you can get in JSP.
Basic kickoff example of /WEB-INF/template.jsp
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
<head>
<title>${title}</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="style.css" />
<script src="script.js"></script>
</head>
<body>
<div id="header">
header
</div>
<div id="menu">
menu
</div>
<div id="content">
<jsp:include page="/WEB-INF/${view}.jsp" />
</div>
<div id="footer">
footer
</div>
</body>
</html>
And the controller Servlet:
#WebServlet(urlPatterns={"/pages/*"})
public class Controller extends HttpServlet {
#Override
protected void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException {
String view = request.getPathInfo().substring(1);
String title = titles.get(view); // Imagine that it's a map or something.
request.setAttribute("view", view);
request.setAttribute("title", title);
request.getRequestDispatcher("/WEB-INF/template.jsp").forward(request, response);
}
}
Invoke it by
http://localhost:8080/contextname/pages/foo
and provide a /WEB-INF/foo.jsp file which should represent the content. E.g.
/WEB-INF/foo.jsp
<h1>This is Foo!</h1>
<p>Lorem ipsum</p>

How to generate empty div for modal window when page is rendered first time?

Are you able to suggest how to generate an empty 'div' tag for a modal window when the page is rendered the first time?
'div' content will be fetched with ajax request.
I would like to avoid fetching modal window content twice - first when the page is rendered and then when I click on the link to show modal window.
I do not use wicket modal window implementation.
I have a base ModalBorder class.
ModalBorder.java
public class ModalBorder extends Border {
public ModalBorder(String id) {
super(id);
}
}
with ModalBorder.html markup
<wicket:border>
<div class="modal-background"></div>
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="box">
<wicket:body/>
</div>
</div>
</wicket:border>
AboutAppModalPanel.java
public class AboutModalPanel extends Panel {
public AboutModalPanel(String id) {
super(id);
setOutputMarkupId(true);
var mb = new ModalBorder("modalBorder");
mb.setRenderBodyOnly(true);
add(mb);
}
}
AboutAppModalPanel.html
<wicket:panel>
<div wicket:id="modalBorder">
<article class="media">
<div class="media-content">
<div class="content">
<p>
<strong>
About application content
</strong>
</p>
</div>
</div>
</article>
</div>
</wicket:panel>
I would like to achieve the below output:
MainPage.html
Page is rendered first time (with empty div)
<html>
<body>
...
<div class="modal" id="aboutAppModalPanel2">
<!-- modal is empty and hidden (not-active) -->
</div>
</body>
</html>
and then requesting modal content via ajax request
<html>
<body>
...
<div class="modal is-active" id="aboutAppModalPanel2">
<!-- modal is filled in and SHOWN (added 'is-active' class) -->
<div class="modal-background"></div>
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="box">
<article class="media">
<div class="media-content">
<div class="content">
<p><strong>About application content</strong>
...
</div>
</body>
</html>
but now I am facing this issue:
Page is rendered first time (with filled in div)
<html>
<body>
...
<div class="modal" id="aboutAppModalPanel2">
<!-- modal is filled in and HIDDEN (not-active) -->
<div class="modal-background"></div>
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="box">
<article class="media">
<div class="media-content">
<div class="content">
<p><strong>About application content</strong>
...
</div>
</body>
</html>
and then requesting modal content via ajax request
<html>
<body>
...
<div class="modal is-active" id="aboutAppModalPanel2">
<!-- modal is filled in and SHOWN (added 'is-active' class) -->
<div class="modal-background"></div>
<div class="modal-content">
<div class="box">
<article class="media">
<div class="media-content">
<div class="content">
<p><strong>About application content</strong>
...
</div>
</body>
</html>
Are you able to suggest a solution?
I use Wicket 9.
Add an empty WebMarkupContainer instead of your panel to the page, making sure you call setOutputMarkupId(true) so it can be refreshed in an ajax call. Then replace it with your panel in the Link's onClick(AjaxRequestTarget target) method.
thanks for a tip. I needed to change my implementation but now it works.
// In page constructor:
// Instead of empty WebMarkupContainer you suggested an empty panel with setOutputMarkupId(true)
add(new AjaxEmptyPanel("aboutApp"));
add(showAboutAppLink());
// and AjaxLink:
private AjaxLink<String> showAboutAppLink() {
return new AjaxLink<>("showAboutApp", new ResourceModel("SHOW")) {
private static final long serialVersionUID = -3035458028030059416L;
#Override
public void onClick(AjaxRequestTarget ajaxRequestTarget) {
var aboutApp = new AboutAppModalPanel("aboutApp");
aboutApp.setOutputMarkupId(true);
getPage().replace(aboutApp);
ajaxRequestTarget.add(aboutApp);
}
};
}

Show method from resource controller returns null

I'm having trouble with learning laravel and decided to ask my question here since I can't find an answer via Google etc.
I am trying to return a client from the database via Id, maybe later via name.
This is my form:
<<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<title>Klant invoeren</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="{{asset('css/app.css')}}">
</head>
<body>
<p><<form action="{{route('client/'.$client->id.'/show/')}}"
method="get">
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-4"></div>
<div class="form-group col-md-4">
<label for="price">Achternaam:</label>
<input type="text" class="form-control" name="id">
</div>
</div>
<div class="row">
<div class="col-md-4"></div>
<div class="form-group col-md-4">
{{csrf_field()}}
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-success" style="margin-
left:38px">Zoek klant</button>
</div>
</div>
</form></p>
</body>
</html>
Which redirects to:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<title>Klant invoeren</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="{{asset('css/app.css')}}">
</head>
<body>
<div class="container">
<h2>Voer een klant in</h2><br />
<h1>Showing {{ var_dump($client) }}</h1>
</div>
</body>
</html>`
And this is the show method from the Clientcontroller:
public function show($id)
{
$client = Client::find($id);
return view('clients.show', compact('client'));
}
This is the route I'm using:
Route::get('client/{id}/show','ClientController#show');
Can someone spot my mistake, because I can't after messing with this the last few hours.
EDIT: updated code and added the route, now getting the error that the client variable isn't defined in the
You must echo the client id in the form action. So, remove the inverted comma from $client->id. Use the following code :
<form action="{{action('ClientController#show', $client->id)}}"
method="get">
Additionally, remove backtick from the code. Use the following code :
public function show($id)
{
$client = Client::find($id);
return view('clients.show', compact('client'));
}
In your routes/web.php
Route::get('client/{id}/show','ClientController#show');
In your form:
<form action="{{URL::to('client/'.$client->id.'/show/')}}"
method="get">
In your controller:
public function show($id)
{
$client = Client::find($id);
return view('clients.show', compact('client'));
}
In your Client Controller make sure you use the Model that you are referencing to
Assuming App\Client.php Change it to App\User.php if you are referring to user
ClientController
use App\Client;
public function show($id)
{
$client = Client::find($id);
return view('clients.show', compact('client'));
}
Now you can fetch the client model with $client For example $client->id
Make sure you pass the {id} parameter in the route

Codemirror display code from codemirror textarea

I'm getting plain text while displaying the code from the codemirror textarea and I want to that in the form of code highlighted format. Any plz help me.
I want to print highlighted code which was highlighted in the codemirror editor I'm getting that code from codemirror editor by using editor.getValue();:
<!doctype html>

<script src="lib/htmlmixed.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="lib/docs.css">
<style type="text/css">

border: 1px solid #eee;
}
td {
padding-right: 20px;
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<h1></h1>
<form>
<textarea id="code" name="code">
package org;import java.io.IOException;import javax.servlet.http.*;#SuppressWarnings("serial")
public class BasicChatServlet extends HttpServlet{public void doGet(HttpServletRequest req,HttpServletResponse resp)
throws IOException{resp.setContentType("text/plain");resp.getWriter().println("Hello, world");}}
</textarea>
</form>
<table>
<tr>
<td>
<a href="javascript:autoFormatSelection()">
<button> Format </button>
</a>
<button id="copy_button">copy</button>
<button id="show">show</button>
</td>
<div id="code_show">
</div>
</tr>
</table>
</p>
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/3.1.1/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script>
$("#copy_button").click(function(){
$("textarea").select();
document.execCommand('copy');
});
var editor = CodeMirror.fromTextArea(document.getElementById("code"), {
lineNumbers: false,
indentUnit: 4
});
CodeMirror.commands["selectAll"](editor);
function getSelectedRange() {
return { from: editor.getCursor(true), to: editor.getCursor(false) };
}
function autoFormatSelection() {
var range = getSelectedRange();
var x=editor.autoFormatRange(range.from, range.to);
}
$("#show").click(function(){
var program=editor.getValue();
$("#code_show").text(program);
});
</script>
</body>
</html>
(Not sure if this answers your question because it's not very clear -- it would be helpful if you only provided the necessary code for the question)
Each mode (which styles your CodeMirror instance) lives in a subdirectory of the mode/ directory, and typically defines a single JavaScript file that implements the mode. Loading such file will make the language available to CodeMirror through the mode option, which you declare while creating your CodeMirror instance:
CodeMirror.fromTextArea(document.getElementById("code"), {
lineNumbers: false,
indentUnit: 4,
mode: 'text/css'
});
You'll need to ensure your different mode files are added to a mode folder in your library. In your case the css.js, xml.js, javascript.js and htmlmixed.js files need to be in a new folder called lib/mode (so css.js has a filepath of lib/mode/css.js for example).
You can inspect each mode's demo to see what string you must pass to the mode: option in order for it to be called. Here's the css demo for example
You can go one step further and change the mode on the fly for editing multiple text file-types: Multiple modes Codemirror

I have tried placing them in a division but I don't know what is the attribute to specify layout.Please guide about the layouts.

Applying a custom javascript function to an iframe element

I'm trying to figure out how to apply a custom javascript function to a dropdown menu element that is located in the iframe. Javascript changes the look and feel of the dropdown and works great for the parent page. It doesn't work for an element in the iframe. I searched this website for an answer but unfortunately some of the examples given here didn't work for my page. A couple of things to keep in mind:
Both pages are in the domain
I can't directly place the js on the page that is loaded in the iframe(code below is just an example, the real thing is not accessible to me)
I'm using the js libraries found here(i modified it a bit to fit my needs) http://www.marghoobsuleman.com/jquery-image-dropdown
Here's the page that will be loaded in iframe. I'm trying to style the select element:
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
<title>Iframe</title>
</head>
<body>
<label for="specialty">Specialty: </label>
<select name="specialty" id="specialty" class="dropdown">
<option value="calendar">Calendar</option>
<option value="shopping_cart">Shopping Cart</option>
</select>
</body>
</html>
Here's the parent from which I try to invoke the js:
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
<title>Parent Page</title>
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="css/style.css" />
<script src="https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.7.2/jquery.min.js"></script>
<script src="js/jquery.dd.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(function(e) {
try {
$("body select").msDropDown();
}
catch(e) {
alert(e.message);
}
});
$('#frame').load( function(){
try {
$(this.contentDocument).find('select').msDropDown();
}
catch(e) {
alert(e.message);
}
});
</script>
</head>
<body>
<label for="specialty">Specialty: </label>
<select name="specialty" id="specialty" class="dropdown">
<option value="calendar">Calendar</option>
<option value="shopping_cart">Shopping Cart</option>
</select>
<iframe src="add.html" id="frame" name="frame"></iframe>
</body>
</html>
Thanks in advance
As far as I can tell, this doesn't seem possible. It may be an issue with the plugin itself, in that even executing the function on the DOM of the iframe, the function instead executes on the DOM of the parent.
