Just started a page for my business. I have NO IDEA where to put the codes for something as simple as a "like" button to appear on my page. I don't understand what URL I'm supposed to include in the "href" section. I'm not even sure what that is. I really need help...
I googled "facebook like button tutorial", the first result is:

Looks pretty comprehensive.

I'm working on a site for a client. The site is built in Joomla and is using a Facebook like button on each page. When a user clicks a like button it unclicks itself after a second or two.
I've seen several similar problems here but none have provided enough insight to help me figure out what to do to fix this problem.
I ran the page through the Facebook debugger:
https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.theartoflove.net%2Findex.php%2F9-blog%2Fmen%2F27-go-ahead-and-ask-her-out
but I don't have a clue how to figure out what that result is telling me. The URL I used as a test in the debugger is:
http://www.theartoflove.net/index.php/9-blog/men/27-go-ahead-and-ask-her-out
Anyone know what I need to do to fix this problem? It seems to happen regardless of what like box I put on the site (I've tried three different ones so far).
My sincere thanks for any help!
When I clicked the like button, a small 'CONFIRM' link appeared under the "Like" widget, i had to click the 'CONFIRM' link (which brought up a dialog box asking me to confirm that I liked the page) in order to get the "Like" to stick.

Facebook sometimes makes the arbitrary determination that your page is 'spammy' and adds extra precautions like 'CONFIRM'. That may be part of what is going on.
The code is reentrant and the developer is flipping the bit instead of verifying the current state with a conditional before setting the value. (This is a common coding mistake. Too common.)
We are using a facebook like button on a gallery page. When you click the like button, the parent page information is provided instead of the "item" information - but when the link is shared individually on facebook, it pulls the right information.
I tried using Facebook's debug tool, and it pulls the correct information.. the issue seems to be when its on the page. I've checked the meta info and it all looks right...
Any ideas?

Put in the correct sub-link and generate the like button again > Test it first, directly in the like button generator.
If the data is shown correctly in the debugger, then i am pretty sure the problem is that you don´t use the correct/same link in the like button. It would be important to see your usage of the like button. It´s possible that you have an escape character problem, so only the basic link is used.
I want to make a button that shares links in this form:
http://example.com/#anchor
but when i click it, it shares only
http://example.com
How could I make it share what I want?
This is very simple; your URL string you want to share should be like this: http://www.domain.com/hello.html%23myanchor
The %23 will be transformed by Facebook into a #.
Your question is not very detailed and it's not easy to understand exactly what it is you're asking for..
Since the share functionaliy was deprecated I assume that you are talking about the Like button.
As you can see in that page you can put what ever url you want into the "URL to Like" field, then click the "Get Code" button and use that code in your page.
You can put the code in any page, so if your page is: "example.com/#anchor" you can still have the button like "http://example.com" or the other way around.
If however you want the user to like "example.com/#anchor" but when someone clicks on the liked link he will get to "example.com" then it's not possible.
I just thought about this (because I have the same problem).
My idea is to share a php link with a variable, let's call it 'a' for anchor, which is the anchor without # so that facebook won't remore it.
Thus you share the link:
http://www.mywebpa.ge/?a=anchor1
Then you just have to recover the value of 'a' with php and add a little script which makes you go to the anchor.
I hope it will help you.

Basically i'd like to put a like button on the website so that fans of the site can like the websites Facebook page.
The Like button page doesn't give me the code when i click the button, just says "Only verified developers can be added as listed developers of this application. Read www.facebook.com/help/?faq=17580 for details." Is this a common error, or?
EDIT: Using Like box now, but would prefer Like button.
And the like box page gives me the iframe and XFBML codes. Sorry for being a n00b, but how do i add either one onto my site? I've tried Insert > Script and pasted it in there, using all four script types (Javascript, JS 1.1, JS 1.2 and VBScript but they don't show in the preview. Placed the code under the 'back to top' button at the bottom of the page. Not showing up when i look at code view of the online version though?
Hopefully its something really easy and obvious, but any help would be great.
Again, site is designed/updated with Dreamweaver MX 6.0.
I dont have that much experience with Dreamweaver - but implementing the facebook social plugins (eg. Like button) is very simple. All you have to do is copy and paste the XFMBL you generate from this link. Once you paste your URL into the "URL to Like" field and click "get code" you should get the correct code to use...
You place this code wherever you want it to appear - if you want the like button to be in the footer just paste it there...
The code snippet actually loads the facebook javascript sdk and places your like button inside an iframe on your page...
You can not place the like button code inside a different element - if that were possible people could trick you into liking their page by writing some different label on the button - eg. "Back to top" :)
This should be relatively simple to implement. If you are still having dificulties - why not try opening a new HTML file containing only the required HTML tags and the like button code...
Hope this helps!
Good luck!
The error appears because, just like it says in the message, you are not a verified developer.
In order to be a verified Facebook developer, you need a verified Facebook account, with a credit card or a phone number verification.
I'd suggest you verify your account as soon as you can if you plan to use more of Facebook's plugins and apps, since it will give you full access to their developer tools
I'm writing facebook app in fbml (not in iframe).
I added comments with <fb:comments ...> and it appears to work.
However, to add a comment, user has to click Add a comment... link to see the textarea and post button.
I am wondering is there a way to automatically show the form?
I want it to really look like here:
developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/comments
(with or without the like button)
well... to answer my own question:
it's documented at
developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/fbml/comments
The showform parameter.
Maybe it will help someone.
