How can I enable "Debug" section in iOS simulator menu? - iphone

In this stackoverflow question people say that it is possible to set mock location in iOS simulator Debug menu. However I cannot find this section in iOS Simulator menu. Im using last XCode 4 from AppStore (Lion). What should I do to make it visible?

It seems it has been added since ios sdk 5.0. I have both versions(4.3.2 and 5.0BETA and corresponding xcode versions) installed separately and the menu you mean is only in 5.0 version.

making ios 6 app compatible with ios 5

I am developing an app in Xcode 4.5 targeting iOS 6 version. I want to make that app backward compatible for iOS 5 and all the iOS 5 versions. How can i do this? My app is complete and it is targeting right now iOS 6 only.
Run xcode, Press Command + comma (,) for preferences then select the Download tab and install the simulator which you want to test with. check the following image for more help
change project target like this.
Try changing the Deployment Target to 5.0, it might have been selected as 6.0.
Or from the top select 'iPhone 5.0 Simulator' or 'iPad 5.0 Simulator' or 'iPhone 5.1 Simulator' or 'iPad 5.1 Simulator' etc.
If None of the above works, then go to Xcode at the top, Go to Preferences (Or press Command + Comma) buttons and it will open up preferences.
Go to Downloads and Go to Documentation, Check and Install the simulators as per your need.

First download all simulators.
Then select project name from left navigation bar, and then under "Build Settings" select "iOS Deployment Target" as iOS "4.3", so that, you will able to run your app in lower version 5.0.
Hope it will be helpful to you.
Cheers!
This is what I do I change the info.plist file from ios5 to ios6 so that I can run ios6 apps you could use ifile todo that.
Warning:if you get on cydia to install an app it could remove your unthethered jailbreak because it thinks youre running on ios6
I had a IOS app and when I changed the framework to be 5.0 weird bugs started popping up. I have also found that I cannot install a IOS 6.1 app onto a IOS 5.0 ipad. I can install a 5.0 version and then update it though.
The bugs seemed to revole aorund MYSQL, I have re-tested and everything is fine now, but i'm not sure what I did.

Xcode and iOS5.1 on iPhone won't work

Did I miss something? I updated my iPhone to 5.1 and now Xcode won't install developer apps on it. Here's from the Organizer:
OS Installed on User's iPhone
5.1 (9B179)
Xcode Supported iOS Versions
Latest
5.0 (9A334)
4.3
4.2
You have to download Xcode 4.3.1, but they try to force it through the app store and a lot of people are having problems with it. If you want to get the download directly, go to Xcode section of the iOS dev center: https://developer.apple.com/xcode/index.php
Don't click the "View in Mac App Store" button - instead click the link at the bottom that reads: Looking for additional developer tools? View Downloads
Log in. Unfortunately, paid members only.
The 3rd or 4th item on the list will be Xcode 4.3.1 for Lion. You can download the DMG there.
Hope this helps!
The current Xcode doesn't have the latest iOS 5.1 SDK (not to mention it looks like Apple took down the beta builds). You'll have to wait until Apple updates Xcode.

How to display all SDK versions of iphone/ipad in simulator selection list?

I'm unable to choose the lower than 4 version of SDK simulator in the simulator selection list in xcode4. There are iOS SDK 4+ (for iPhone) and iOS SDK 3.2 (for iPad) simulator versions only. I have set IPHONEOS_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET = 3.1 but nothing changes.
In the project editor choose your build target and then choose the summary pane. In the summary pane there is a drop down box where you can choose the deployment target. This may or may not help because it sounds like you're already changing the variable directly in the build settings.
Seems like we need to download and install previous version of Xcode and SDK. All the versions could be found on Apple's developer site. Also, there is one simple instruction that can be found here:

Xcode debugger not stop i ipod with IOS 5 Beta

I have 2 devices,iphone with 4.3.1 and ipod with 5.0.
The problem is that in my iphone the debugger stop in break points, and in ipod the debugger won't stop on break points.
Any ideas on why that happens?
Have you installed the iOS 5 SDK in your Mac? I think that is what you require.
Also you need to understand that some of the functionalities might still be missing in some of the cases as it is still a BETA version. It might not be a fully functional version yet.
So either you can try using the iOS 5 SDK in your mac or if you have already tried it then I think you should wait for the final iOS 5 full version to work properly.
Also in the below link, they have discussed that some of the functionalities of iOS 5 still doesn't work on iPod. So may be Apple is working on it before the final launch.

You can also try referring to this link:
iPhone Dev: Xcode debugger does not stop on breakpoints
I think its the same problem like with iTunes. If you use a beta SDK you also need beta iTunes to sync with your device and a beta Xcode. Do you have the beta Xcode? Thats because the official Xcode release don't have an iOS 5 debugger. Open your Organizer and look if your iPod is listed as a supported debugging device.
Do you have iOS5 SDK installed as well? Are you testing with that? If not, the app won't stop at breakpoints. Your XCode version does not have the iOS5 debugger.
Not the solution to your problem, but I faced the same problem and solved it using UIAlertViews & NSLogs. I should also mention that I even installed xcode with iOS 5 SDK beta, even after which the breakpoints won't hit.
It was some issue with the symbols. You can create & display a temporary alert view where you want to put the break-point with its message/title being the value that you want to see, or you can log the value.
To debug a device running iOS 5 you will need to install the beta version of XCode, which contains the iOS 5 SDK. Once you register as an apple developer you can download it from developer.apple.com.

iphone Xcode settings problems

I am going through the Apple provisioning profile walkthrough documentation to create the binary to submit to the app store but came across a very visible problem.
The documentation shows that when the user clicks on the "Overview" tab in Xcode they should have a list of options such as:
Device - iPhone OS 2.0,
Device - iPhone OS 2.1,
Device - iPhone OS 2.2 (Project Settings),
Simulator - iPhone OS 2.0,
Simulator - iPhone OS 2.1,
Simulator - iPhone OS 2.2
However, in my version of Xcode, the "Overview" tab brings up this:
Device,
Simulator
I am wondering if this could possibly be contributing to the reason that the app store will not accept my binary - the error stating that "Apple is not currently accepting apps built in this version of the OS." Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
EDIT:I have checked everything that I can possibly think of - this is the final SDK 4.0 that is the most current. I have tried almost every combination of base SDK and target SDK that is allowed in the build menu - although I am pretty sure the correct way is to have the base SDK at 4.0 and the target SDK at the lowest that it would possibly work - none of this works. Is there some sort of help desk I can call at Apple because I have been working on this one tiny problem now for about 10 hours and I am not making any progress at all.
Seams that you have and old SDK, try to download SDK4 final (not the beta).
Or your compiling options are old, to edit them right click on the project icon in the left column and click "Get info".
In the second tab (build) you should find all the options you need.
Must have been some recent changes to xcode. Everything worked once I set the Base SDK to 4.0 and the target SDK to 3.2.
