Why does adding a "pending" break my Scala test? - scala

The commented line below breaks my testing
import org.scalatest.WordSpec
class LSESuite extends WordSpec {
"An LSE market" should {
"round values" in {
val lse = new LSE {
}
assert(lse.getMarketName === "LSE")
//"min tick size" is (pending)
}
}
}
I receive the following error "An it clause may not appear inside another it clause" but I'm not sure how to interpret. Edit stack trace:

Your 'pending' seems to be in an odd location. So you might see the same problem as I saw here: http://groups.google.com/group/scalatest-users/browse_thread/thread/177bbc520edc8fbd

ScalaFX #sfxml Annotation Problems

I am writing a Scalafx application using FXML for the views with the scalafxml library. I am having a ton of trouble getting the classes to compile when using the #sfxml annotation on controller classes. When using them, I keep getting NoSuchMethodExceptions on my constructors as if I have no default constructor but this is definitely not the case. I have been studying this so much that I can only conclude that the problem must be with the library itself. I have followed any information on it as best I know how.
The controller is for creating a form for the user. Since the "IllegalArgumentException" will be thrown if I try to set the root node's scene twice, I use the root node's id in my constructor for purposes of avoiding the exception.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
My code:
#sfxml
class ToolbarController(private val rootLayout: BorderPane) {
val parent = calcParent
import javafx.application.Platform
def newForm = {
new JFXPanel()
Platform.runLater(new Runnable() {
override def run() {
val dialogStage = new Stage {
scene = new Scene(parent) {
stylesheets = List(getClass.getResource("/scala/css/form.css").toExternalForm)
}
}
dialogStage.show()
}
})
}
def calcParent: Parent = {
val resource = getClass.getResource("scala/form.fxml")
if(rootLayout.scene == null)
FXMLView(resource, NoDependencyResolver)
else rootLayout.getParent
}
}
The FXML:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<?import javafx.geometry.Insets?>
<?import javafx.scene.control.*?>
<?import javafx.scene.layout.*?>
<BorderPane id="rootLayout"maxHeight="-Infinity" maxWidth="-Infinity" minHeight="-Infinity" minWidth="-Infinity" prefHeight="500.0" prefWidth="500.0" xmlns="http://javafx.com/javafx/8" xmlns:fx="http://javafx.com/fxml/1" fx:controller="FormController">

You should not instantiate a class annotated with #fxml directly. This class is modified by the SFXML compiler macro. It is not shown in the code you posted but somewhere you must instantiate ToolbarController to call newForm. Posting Minimal, Complete, and Verifiable example is very important.
Attempting to directly instantiate ToolbarController is the most likely cause of the NoSuchMethodExceptions as ToolbarController constructor is modified by the macro. You need to move methods newForm and calcParent outside of ToolbarController. Only instantiate ToolbarController using FXMLView(resource, ...). You also need to add a reference to ToolbarControllerin the FXML file in the top pane:
<BorderPane ... fx:controller="mypackage.ToolbarController"> ...
With that the FXMLView can instantiate ToolbarController using only reference to the FXML file. For instance, the instantiation could look like this:
import java.io.IOException
import scalafx.Includes._
import scalafx.application.JFXApp
import scalafx.application.JFXApp.PrimaryStage
import scalafx.scene.Scene
import scalafxml.core.{NoDependencyResolver, FXMLView}
object MyFXMLDemo extends JFXApp {
val resource = getClass.getResource("/scala/css/form.css")
if (resource == null) {
throw new IOException("Cannot load resource: /scala/css/form.css")
}
val root = FXMLView(resource, NoDependencyResolver)
stage = new PrimaryStage() {
scene = new Scene(root)
}
}
Please take look carefully at the example at https://github.com/vigoo/scalafxml-unit-converter-example.

The exception is pretty clear. It seems that you've set the spark.dynamicAllocation.enabled property to true, but failed to set spark.dynamicAllocation.minExecutors and spark.dynamicAllocation.maxExecutors. The spark 1.2.1 documentation clearly states this (from spark.dynamicAllocation.enabled description, emphasis mine):
This requires the following configurations to be set:
spark.dynamicAllocation.minExecutors,
spark.dynamicAllocation.maxExecutors, and
spark.shuffle.service.enabled
If you look at the 1.2 branch of Spark, you'll see that if you don't specify those values, the default defers to -1:
// Lower and upper bounds on the number of executors. These are required.
private val minNumExecutors = conf.getInt("spark.dynamicAllocation.minExecutors", -1)
private val maxNumExecutors = conf.getInt("spark.dynamicAllocation.maxExecutors", -1)
This behavior has changed. If you look at the updated 1.6 branch of Spark, you'll see that they defer to 0 and Integer.MAX_VALUE, respectively:
// Lower and upper bounds on the number of executors.
private val minNumExecutors = conf.getInt("spark.dynamicAllocation.minExecutors", 0)
private val maxNumExecutors = conf.getInt("spark.dynamicAllocation.maxExecutors",
Integer.MAX_VALUE)
This simply means, you need to add these either to the SparkConf settings, or to any other configuration file you're providing to the spark-shell:
val sparkConf = new SparkConf()
.set("spark.dynamicAllocation.minExecutors", minExecutors)
.set("spark.dynamicAllocation.maxExecutors", maxExecutors)

JavaFX 8 TreeTableColumn setText ClassCastException

My situation is: I have a TreeTableView that has a TreeTableColumn. The Columns head text will be changed on runtime.
When I change the text through setText or textProperty().bind(...) before I show the stage, all works as expectet.
But if i change the text after showing the stage, I get a massive java.lang.ClassCastException.
I have tried this with Java SE 1.8.0 b132 and with Java 1.8.0_20 b17 EA.
Is there a workaround for this except recreating the TreeTableColumn?
My Sample Code:
TreeTableView<String> ttv = new TreeTableView<>();
TreeTableColumn<String, String> ttc = new TreeTableColumn<>();
ttc.setText("Hello");
ttv.getColumns().add(ttc);
ttv.setOnMouseClicked(new EventHandler<MouseEvent>() {
#Override
public void handle(MouseEvent t) {
ttc.setText("World");
}
});
Scene scene = new Scene(ttv);
primaryStage.setTitle("Hello World!");
primaryStage.setScene(scene);
primaryStage.show();
The Exception(after clicking on TreeTableView):

UPDATE 08/04/2014:
Submitted Bug report to javafx-jira:
https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8095931
UPDATE 08/05/2014:
Fix Version will be: 8u40
#thatjavaguy09 fix does work.
Greetings, Kalsch
Looking through the stack trace, it seems the issue is that your TreeTableColumn is trying to be casted into a TableColumn which is what is throwing the ClassCastException (since that is in fact an invalid cast).
It seems the call is coming from TableHeaderRow.invalidated. Looking at this method, I see where the cast is coming from.
private final InvalidationListener columnTextListener = new InvalidationListener() {
#Override public void invalidated(Observable observable) {
**TableColumn<?,?> column = (TableColumn<?,?>) ((StringProperty)observable).getBean();**
CheckMenuItem menuItem = columnMenuItems.get(column);
if (menuItem != null) {
menuItem.setText(getText(column.getText(), column));
}
}
};
This might be a bug with the JDK. I believe the correct cast should be to a TableColumnBase. I would submit this to their bug tracker:

Has anyone seen this before? The error below happens when I build my Scala/Play project in Intellij. As you can see none of my code is part of the call-stack.

The build was working fine previously so I wonder if it's an environmental issue.
Based on this PasteBin I know I'm not the first person to see this issue: http://pastebin.com/VtFy12UJ
Have you tried compiling outside of Intellij to see if that fixed the issue?
It's probably because you have a tuple with more than 22 items. Relevant Scala ticket: https://issues.scala-lang.org/browse/SI-9572

Solution to NullPointerException in my TestNG test case

I am trying to login Facebook by using multiple sets of login cridential from external excel sheet using TestNG but in between the code what i have written throws:

I am not able to find out where the problem is? so how to solve it.
For one thing, don't use "throws Exception" in the method declaration. Instead, have a try block inside the method with a "not null assertion".
Keep in mind that you never want to throw typical exceptions in a test method because it will drop you out of the test lifecycle too early and skip your #After phases. An exception thrown in a #Before annotated method will probably cause a SkipAssertion.
So, what you want to do instead is fail assertions. So, if you have a exception condition that occurs sometimes, swallow the exception (don't throw it) and use an assertion to handle it.
For example:
try {
} catch ( NullPointerException e ) {
Assert.assertTrue( "There was an error in blah.", false );
}
Null pointer means, exepected value of variable is null.
Please check the file exists at the specified path "E:\workspace99\SeleniumAutomations\testdata\LoginData.xls" and you get the value correctly from the file.
The stack trace says the issue is line 31 in your code but your snippet does not allow us to work out where line 31 is .
you are calling "selenium.isElementPresent". Could "selenium" be nil?
