Wanted to know favorite play list songs of end users, should be on server or client side(sqlite) iPhone sdk? - iphone

Actually i am developing an app like net flix and in that i need to save favorite songs of end user, i am playing http live streamed videos and also i need to save played time of an video so that end user would be able to play a song from where he has left this song rather then just play it again from beginning.
They are sending me url of streamed videos in following format
http://xxxxxxxxxx/vod/definsts/mp4/low/mp4:1975010026_01.mp4/playlist.m3u8
so my question is that
What should be the best option to save user's favorite songs according to streamed url, means net flix kind of app having favorite songs in client side or at server side.what should be the preferred one and i am using MPMediaPlayerController from apple MoviePlayer sample app code.
If some one has any idea and want to know any thing more from my side then i will be available. I am and will be highly obliged for your any help.
Sorry but my English is not good and i don't know how to play with words.
Any small help or suggestion would be much appreciated.

Preferably your best option here looks like server side;
Saving the Data When you are removed from the application should be ultimately dealt with on the execution of the app to close.
you have multiple options when doing server Side Calls, One i found to be the best is ASIHTTPRequestDelegate
this has worked wonders and is fairly easy to learn.
You may even want to look into a REST method of pulling Video Feeds, may be a Faster and more secure approach.
hope this Helped! :)

Access iPhone User Songs and Videos?

I was wondering if I can access user's songs and videos in iPhone, part of that access if I can save them or modify them? hopefully not a Jailbroken iPhones
I am greatly appreciated.
Yes, you can. I can't speak for video, because I've only done it for audio, but you can definitely get audio data. These links should get you started. Note: I am as yet unsure if this works with tracks that use any kind of iTunes-related DRM.
First of all, this blog post talks you through the method of accessing the data. Note the reliance on iOS 4.1 or above.
This SO question/answer explains how to get at the raw pcm data, should you want to do more than just save it out.
You can allow the user to pick songs using the MPMediaPickerController class. I think you can save the selected item to your app's sandbox directory.
You can read up on this a bit more with this SO question.

Turning an iPhone or iPod into a wireless webcam

I'd like to stream video from the camera on an iOS device to a receiver via wifi, in effect turning the device into a wireless webcam. Is there a way to build a small app that captures video input on an iOS app and sends it via an RTSP stream or similar?
As this is an ad hoc experiment, I'm not concerned about App Store guidelines and can jailbreak if necessary.
If I interpret your question correctly you more or less need to solve four problems:
Get the camera feed.
Convert/encode this to the right format.
Stream the data.
Prevent the phone from locking itself and going into deep sleep.
The first one is fairly simple and Apple has as always provided good documentation and examples -> API link. Make sure you check out their example in the end as you will get a CMSampleBufferRef data object back.
For the second and third part, you should check out the CFNetwork framework and specially CFFTPStream for streaming using FTP.
If your are only building this for yourself then you can always turn off the Auto-Lock feature in the settings. If you on the other hand would like to distribute this to other users you could use a trick to play a mute sound every 10 seconds. This is more or less how all the alarm clocks work in the App Store. Here's a tutorial. =)
I hope I helped a little bit at least.
Good luck and best regards!
I'm 70% of the way to doing the same thing. Here's how I did it:
Capture content from video input
Chop video into files for use in HTML Live Streaming.
Spin up a web server on the iPhone and make the video files available.
Connect to the IP address of the phone and viola! you've got live streaming video.
Last time I touched the code I was trying to debug my Live Streaming not working. I'll try and get my source code posted on github this weekend, if you'd like to take a look.

iPhone App Development - Audio Queue Recording

I am currently working on an App which needs to get some data from the microphone. I have read through some resources on the Internet and believe that Audio Queue is a good library to do it.
I only need to get an array which stores the microphone input data, and do not need to play it back.
Can anyone kindly give some hints on that? Greatly appreciated if a simple sample/essential code fragments can be given.
Speak Here App given by the Apple can give you some idea. You can get the link here http://developer.apple.com/iPhone/library/samplecode/SpeakHere/index.html

How to record sound of a key press on iphone?

I am developing an application in which I want to record the sound of a piano key press. I'm not able to find anything relevant on the internet which helps.
Can anybody share the code or any link which shows how to record the data of the piano key press, store it somewhere in memory and then play it again?
or
If anybody knows how to get the key press event of the keyboard and record it, that would also be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mishal
It sounds like your particular need does not involve MIDI or capturing notes from a digital piano, if I am reading correctly. You want just the audio sound of a piano, to play back on an iPhone app?
A few questions/thoughts:
First, do you just need one note/sound? If so you should be able to easily find a sound file that is to your liking on a site that sells sound samples. I myself use sounddogs.com for various odd projects.
Next, what sort of code do you need to play the sound? What programming language are you developing the app in and how do you trigger the sound playback? These details will be helpful in giving you some ideas.
Finally, if the main obstacle is just finding and recording the sound, this question may be better moved to superuser.com since that site deals more with general computer questions, media, and technology. (StackOverflow is focused strictly on programming.)

Best way to stream MP3 from an iPhone app?

I am working on an application that will stream music from a server of mine from an iPhone application.
This is my first iPhone app so I am a bit confused :
What would be the best way to do
this?
Is there something already built in
that I could use, like a MP3 player
that I just need to point toward the
correct server?
Do I need a streaming server to do
so?
I'm relatively new to Objective-C/Cocoa (touch), but I have read an article on the cocoawithlove site titled "Streaming and playing an MP3 stream" and tested the sample code on my iPhone and it works perfectly. I don't know about the licensing or anything, if you would be able to use it, but I'm sure someone or even you can figure that out.
Sorry again for not being able to provide any more information or even a link. This is my first answer on SO and cannot post hyperlinks :(
