BlackBerry Facebook jar file in eclipse - facebook

I know this might sound a very basic question but I am having an issue in using Facebook SDK for Blackberry. I have downloaded the latest one 0.8.25. I have imported them in my eclipse and they are present in the referenced libraries. I have a game app where I want the users to login using their facebook account. Which class contains the code for logging in? Are the jar files implementable or they are just for reference? I have read forums posts where users say that they executed Strawberry program but I can no where find any executable source code. Kindly please let me know how do I create a login page for BlackBerry using its SDK. I did go through another link of Sample Code here!

At the very basic least, you need to get an instance of the Facebook object and call getCurrentUser(). So, for example:

Facebook fb = Facebook.getInstance(new ApplicationSettings(myNextUrl, myAppId, myAppSecret, permissions));
User fbUser = fb.getCurrentUser();
The code in the library will handle all of the details like getting the user to login to facebook account and accept the requested permissions and so on. You'll want to wrap that all in a try/except to catch FacebookException for error conditions (e.g. user refuses your request).

Generate access token Instagram API, without having to log in?

So I am building a restaurant app and one of the features I want is to allow a user of the app to see photos from a particular restaurant's Instagram account.
And I want a user to be able to see this without having to login to their Instagram account, so they shouldn't even need an Instagram account for this to work.
So I have read this answer How can I get a user's media from Instagram without authenticating as a user?
And I tried what it said and used the client_id(which I recieved when I registered my app using my personal Instagram account), but I still get an error back saying :

The endpoint I am trying to hit is :
https://api.instagram.com/v1/users/search?q=[USERNAME]&client_id=[CLIENT ID]
So do I absolutely need an access token for this to work(and thus have to enforce a user to log in) ?
If I do, then is there way to generate an access token somehow without forcing the user log in?
I believe there is a way around this, as the popular dating app Tinder has this desired functionality I am looking for, as it allows you to see photos from people's Instagram account without having to log in! (I have just verified this 5 minutes ago!)
Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Edit April 2018: After facebook privacy case this endpoint is immediately put out of service. It seems we need to parse the JSON embedded in <script> tag directly within the profile page:

to get latest 20 posts in JSON format. Hope you put this to good use.

Instagram used to allow most API requests with just client_id and without access_token, the apps registered back in the day still work with way, thats how some apps are able to show instagram photos without user login.
Instagram has changes the API specification, so new apps will have to get access_token, older apps will have to change before June 2016.
One way you can work around this is by using access_token generated by your account to access photos. Login locally and get access_token, use this for all API calls, it should not change, unless u change password,if it expires, regenerate and update in your server.
Since the endpoints don't exist anymore I switched to a PHP library -

Facebook UserId returned from Azure Mobile Services keeps changing within the same Windows Phone app

I'm a newbie to app development. I am building a Windows Phone 8.1 app and have followed the tutorial here: http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/app-service-mobile-dotnet-backend-windows-store-dotnet-get-started-users-preview/ to add authentication using Facebook. Everything seems to work fine, except that every now and again it appears to stop bringing back any data from my Azure database. Further investigation revealed that the UserId that is being shown from the code below, changes periodically (although I can't quite work out how often it changes).

This code is identical to the code in the tutorial. The Facebook app settings (on the Facebook developers site) confirm that I am using v2.3 of their API so I should be getting app-scoped UserIds back. I have only ever logged in with one Facebook account, so I would expect the UserId to be the same each time, but they're not. The UserId is prefaced with 'sid:', which someone on the Facebook developers group on Facebook itself says stands for Session ID, which they would expect to change, but if that's the case, I can't work out where to get the actual UserId from that I can then store in my database and do useful things with. I'm sure I must be doing something basic wrong, but I have spent hours Googling this and cannot (unusually) find an answer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So dug deeper. This is how Mobile Apps work (I was thinking from a Mobile Services perspective). The issue here is that the Gateway doesn't provide static SIDs, which is what User.userId provides. The work around to this is listed in the migration doc.
You can only get the Facebook AppId on the server.

You should note, that this Id is directly connected with your Facebook App registration. If you ever want to migrate your App to a new Facebook App, you'd have to migrate them. You can also use the Facebook AppId to look up the user's global facebook Id via the Facebook Graph API, which you could use between applications. If you don't see yourself using multiple apps, etc., you can use the Facebook AppId just fine.
Hard to tell what's going on to cause you to use a SID instead of the Faceboook token (which like Facebook:10153...).
It may be faster to rip out the code and reimplement the Auth GetStarted. Maybe you missed a step or misconfigured something along the way. If you have the code hosted on github, I can try to take a look.
Another thing you can do is to not trust the user to give you their User id when you save it to a table. On your insert function, you can add it there.

That should, theoretically, be a valid Facebook token. Let me know if that doesn't work; can dig deeper.

AS3: Post to Facebook Wall - Error #2032

I am currently developing an app with which visitors of an event can take pictures using a webcam and upload them to Facebook using an AS3-application. I know I can connect to Facebook, because I can log the user out using the API and I can get all the information. The problem is that I can't post to their wall for some reason. I keep getting the following error:

I use the following code to post to Facebook:

As I've said before, I know I am connected to facebook because if I change "POST" to "GET" in my api-call, I get all the information of my account. I have the correct permissions as far as I know (read_stream, publish_stream, user_photos). I use GraphAPI_Web_1_8_1.swc as an api.
The documentation on the entire api is very poor, so I am trying to figure out the problem. It's been a few years since I've tried any of this, so my code has probably aged too far by now. So, any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
publish_stream is deprecated (since years?), you need to use publish_actions.
If that does not work, make sure the Access Token includes all the permissions, you can test this in the Debugger: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
Side note: AS3 is not getting used very often anymore, the last version of the the AS3 SDK is from 2011. It may be a good idea to switch to the JavaScript SDK.

iphone how to capture simple login/logout event from web to native

I am developing iPhone application which loads login page of my website. I am able to load my login page using phonegap/childbrowser. I am newbie to JS, Phonegap.
How do my native/phonegap application should handle logout and login event has performed on the webpage? Please guide me how to know user has logged out.
Also is it possible to add support for Push Notification in phonegap/childbrowser application ? How?
So far have seen facebook login-logout questions around but hard to understand and couldnt simulate similar approach.
does your whole app run using the childbrowser? If so why not just have the login log out as piece of your app?
Also if you have to use the childbrowser best bet is to set up a locationchange event and if the location equals a login success page then append some arguments and store those using localstorage.

that will save to your app locally that the user is logged in and their username, which you can use later if you need to use the childbrowser by passing that in the url you open and on the server side you'll have to look for those arguments.
to log out just open the childbrowser and send a logout argument

Honestly this is kind of a vague question, it would really help to understand why you're wanting to do this in the childBrowser vs your app...

Facebook API: FB.Connect.requireSession issues

I have a Facebook app that is built as an iFrame. I am using the JavaScript client API loaded via:

In my initialization code, I use the requireLogin method to ensure that the user has authorized the app. I have found this to be necessary to be able to gather the user's name, avatar, etc. for the scoreboard. Here's a representative code snippet:

This causes the iframe to redirect causing the Facebook authorization screen to load within my app's iFrame. This looks junky and is somewhat confusing to the user, e.g. there are two Facebook bars, etc.
Question 1: is there anything I can do to clean this up while still implementing as an iFrame, and still using the JavaScript APIs?

My experience though when I replace api.requireLogin with FB.Connect.requireSession it never gets invoked. I'd prefer the recommended way of doing it but I struggled and was not able to find a way to get it to work. I tried adding various arguments for the other two parameters as well with seemingly no effect. My expectation is that this method will load in a dialog box inside my app iFrame with a similar authorization message.
Question 2: what am I missing with getting FB.Connect.requireSession to properly prompt the user for authorization?
Finally, at the end of the game, the app prompts the user for the ability to publish their score to their stream via FB.Connect.streamPublish. Which leads me to...

Here is a summary of the changes I needed to make to clean up the authorization process. It appears that iFrames must fully redirect to properly authorize. I tried using the FBConnect authorization but it was a strange experience of popup windows and FBConnect buttons.
Ultimately this game me the expected experience that I've seen with other FB apps:

For iFrames, the solution was ultimately to redirect to the login URL which becomes the authorization URL if they are not already logged in.
I think that FB.requireSession only works from a FB connect site outside of
Facebook. If you're using an app hosted on apps.facebook.com use the php api
call instead,

Of these methods to login

* Including the requirelogin attribute in a link or form
* Using FBML
only the first 2 are available to iframe apps hosted on apps.facebook.com
I think requirelogin and fbml only work with fbml canvas apps.

Please have a look at this. This article discusses correct use of require session and provides links on how to implement that. And yes, you are right, the requireLogin has been deprecated and won't help any more.

As far as I know, you can use both API and Connect together, basically you access Facebook's API with the help of JavaScript.
For iframe apps however, there is no great help and minimum support of API with some handful functionality available. See this for more info.

Finally and personally I have not seen any iframe app requiring user to add the app first. This will create the problem of two bars you mentioned as quoted above.
