What is the latest Microsoft command line C/C++ compiler?
Is it now free, what does it cost?
Looking for a link for it?
Thanks in advance,
Kevin Waite
Erm...

install
Launch VS2010 Command Line shell

I'm using Visual Studio 2017. Below is the output from a Visual Studio Developer command prompt indicating the C++ version.
C:\ProgramsNotInstalled\OpenDDS-3.13>cl /?
Microsoft (R) C/C++ Optimizing Compiler Version 19.16.27024.1 for x86
Following that, I see the following output when running the configure --java command.

I saw a similar question posed for DDS 3.12 on stack overflow but that answer has to do with language. That is clearly not the problem in my case, and I am running the configure script from the correct type of command prompt. This question is not a duplicate.
How to install OpenDDS 3.12 on windows system
Evidently, the configure script cannot always detect the compiler version automatically. I'm not good at reading perl scripts because I don't know perl well, but I found an option to help the script.
First determine the exact version of the C++ compiler by running this line:
cl /?
Now using the output of that, add the --compiler option to the command line.
configure --compiler=19.16.27024.1 --java
The instructions within the INSTALL file and README were not clear on that point. I ran configure --help to look at the command line options and that is how I learned that the script will try to autodetect the compiler. My guess is that the script is looking for a specific C++ compiler version or it is using a regex that isn't working well.
This is a small issue in the configure script of OpenDDS 3.13 which is caused by a change in the compiler version which was not known at release time. When you would pull github master (see https://github.com/objectcomputing/OpenDDS) this should work again, or wait until OpenDDS 3.14.
Is there a free equivalent to the Sapien Powershell Studio to build GUI applications in Powershell?
Ok, I found the solution:
There is a free community edition of Powershell studio which is called PrimalFormsCE.
http://www.sapien.com/software/freetools#PrimalFormsCE
You can build GUI applications, then export to Ps1, edit the code...
Really a good tool !
I am using the plugin "plugin builder" to generate a template. The plugin builder is also generating a make file. I am working on a computer using windows 7 and am trying to execute the make file using the command line of Windows (MS Dos). However, this doesen't work. This means that my *.ui and my *.qrc file are not compiled to python, if I understand correctly.
What can I do? I am not very familiar with pc or programming so I hope to finde someone who can give me an easy understandable answer. Thank you.
Run the code in the osgeo4w Shell
And follow the steps in here:
http://www.qgisworkshop.org/html/workshop/plugins_tutorial.html
If the osgeo4w shell doesn't work copy the qtcore4.dll and qtgui4.dll to the windows system directory first

'make', works in linux by default as it is part of its build system. For windows, you could try downloading GNU Make Setup from below link
GNU make link
afterwards, you should be able to run 'make' from your dos prompt
I am using Windows 7 64 bits. I need to do the mex -largeArrayDims *.c but it tells me that there is no compiler. I am trying to do this in R2010a.
I tried mex -setup but still it says there is no compiler. How can I fix this? Can you please help me? I downloaded Mingw-w64 from the project's SourceForge page (this was before the project moved to http://mingw-w64.org/) but I don't know how to use it. Any help would be really appreciated.
mingw is not supported by Matlab. You must use a compiler supported by them. I believe Visual Studio should be supported and I see no reason why it wouldn't work with the Express Editions, which are free.

You need a patch for Matlab 2010a to use Visual Studio 2010. Under "Notes for the Windows (64-bit) Platform", Read item two, it should explain how to get VC++ 2010 recognized by Matlab. Hope this helps!
I haven't used emacs but have heard about its features and really want to try it out. So can someone post the procedure how to install it in win vista. And the links to download its setup and stuffs so that i can get it setup on my lap?
Your best bet is probably using EmacsW32 which is nicely integrated into Windows and comes with a proper Windows installer.
