Application fails to load inconsistently on iPhone 3G - iphone

I have two iPhone devices: 3G and 3GS. My application always loads successfully on iPhone 3GS but on iPhone 3G it loads like 10% of tries (but it loads). I do not have any exceptions or zombies.
Can someone lead me to possible causes or suggestions to how can i find root cause of the problem?

There are many possibilities. One of them is the "Images". Are you using a lot of images? What are the resolution. Remember:
iPhone 4, ipod touch use XX#2x resolution (retina image: 640 x 960 px)
iPhone 3 without #2x (smaller resolution: 320 x 480 px)

When I run iPhone app on iPad the screen resolution is wrong. How to fix this?

I encountered with a strange problem. I develop an application which is targeting iPhone device family with Retina 3.5 and 4. All the time I used iPhone 5 simulator to test all the UI and functionality and everything was good but know I have to test push notifications. I have iPad 4 (model MD522ZP/A) as an iOS 6 device. When I run my app on it all the UI layout became wrong. The most weird problem is when I tried to check display resolution with this code:
NSLog(#"RESOLUTION = %#", NSStringFromCGSize([UIScreen mainScreen].bounds.size));
I got this : RESOLUTION = {320, 480}. But it is iPhone 3 resolution! Why iPad didn't use Retina 3.5/4 resolution ? And how can I fix it? I don't want to create separate xibs only for iPad testing but I want to test my app on it so that all the UI elements will fit on screen.
Hope for the help.
It's not wrong. It is doing exactly the right thing. All references to sizes are in points, not pixels. When you get the bounds, it will be 320x480 on all 3.5" screens whether they are retina or not. Try it on any 3.5" retina device. You will get the same log output.
The iPad does not emulate a 4" device when running an iPhone-only app. It will always be a 3.5" iPhone compatible mode.
So seeing 320x480 is the correct size to expect.
Think of it this way. A retina iPad will show an iPhone-only app like it is running on a 3.5" retina iPhone. A non-retina iPad will show an iPhone-only app like it is running on a 3.5" non-retina iPhone.

Running app built in iOS4 on iOS 3.0, why is everything huge?

My background and my icons are all huge, like it's zoomed in 2x. Any ideas why?
Check the images in the app- there should be two sets of images, with one set being at double resolution and suffixed with "#2x". If there's just one set and they seem large, odds are the developer never intended the app to be run on a device that's not running iOS4 (which seems odd, but there it is).
That's because the apps in iOS 4 are targeted for iPhone/iPod 4 which have a resolution of 960 x 640, whereas iOS 3 has a resolution of 480 x 320. Do read about Retina Display of iOS for further details.

Interface Photoshop size for iPhone app

I am building an iPhone app interface and I know the dpi has to be 163, but when it comes to the size of the file, I was looking through all the recommendations and found 2 different answers...
Does anyone know what size should i set the Photoshop file at? The answers I have so far are:
"The screen on the iPhone is 480×320, minus the 20-pixel status bar (making a 460×320 working screen size). The screen shots on the App Store should not include the status bar."
"400 x 320 or
960 x 640 (iPhone 4)
You must also consider the landscape mode (320 x 400 and 640 x 960)"
I would really appreciate the answer. Thanks!
You can forget about DPI, the resolution is what is important for you.
So the answer is...
320 x 480 pixels for iPhone - iPhone 3GS (and iPod Touch, first -> third gen)
640 x 960 pixels for iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4th gen
This is for full screen apps. This will help you a lot, when designing UIs for iDevices.
SD resolution (link)
Retina, HD resolution (link)
That's it...
Designing an app, you just need to use the right resolution.
So it is display resolution - top bar:
640x920 (retina without the top bar)
320x460 (iphone up to 3gs)
The Official Answer is in Apple's iTunes Connect Developer Guide, which you can download from iTunes Connect after logging in.

Retina display compatibility

For our iPhone app, we are using 50 x 50 user image (from facebook). It works fine for iPhone 3G and 3GS but not for iPhone 4 due to its high resolution display. For iPhone 4 we tried to send 100 x 100 (variable height) image but it is not working for obvious reasons. Any thought?
You don't need to do anything different for the Retina Display. Using exactly the same image as you have on the older iPhone will work exactly the same.
If you have a higher resolution image that you'd like to display instead, then if you save the file with a #2x suffix then, if the device has a Retina display, it will pick that instead. In most cases it should not require any extra code.

iPhone iPad universal app - how big is final file for devices?

If I have 300 640 x 960 images (for iPhone 4) and 300 1024 x 768 images for iPad, and I want to make a universal app, does the installed app on the iPhone include all the iPad specific images and vice-versa?
Seems like on many apps it would greatly increase the installed application size on different devices.
A universal app is a single application by definition, so it will include all your images.
