hopeing for some help on this one
Hi set my icons up in xcode for using the neat drag and drop feature. A week later i made amendments to my icons. Drag and dropped the new amended items in deleting the older versions. The new versions show up on in the summary drag and drop section and in my project files yet when I build and run it is still showing the older versions even though i have deleted them.
Hope someone can help me out in this one. Not sure if it makes a difference, but im building the app to the simulator.
Thanks in advance for any tips on this one.
Cheers,
Laff
Open your iPhone simulator and select 'Reset Content and Settings' and try running your application on simulator.
Clean (also delete the build folder on disk) and rebuild the project. Also Delete the app from simulator. This way you make sure nothing stale got stuck.

In xcode, I tried to add a tap gesture to my app and when I built it, it started a problem with Xcode. It goes from building, 'running on iPhone 6.1 simulator' to 'finished running on iPhone 6.1 simulator'.
If the simulator is closed, it starts up with a black screen and you cannot click the home button etc. If open, nothing happens, the app doesn't install but the simulator doesn't crash.
I have tried the armv6 architecture 'fix' but that didn't work. I have also cleaned the project and project data. I have reset the simulator multiple times as well.
If I add the old files to my new project, it works up to a point (I copy and paste old files into new) but then the same happens.
Thanks for your help in advance!
NOTE:
New blank projects build and run fine.
EDIT: It still didn't work after undoing my previous actions, and the simulator is responding according to Finder, although the screen stays black

UPDATE
I had a folder named 'resources' in my application, imported as a reference which, following links from the thread #arthan.v supplied me with fixed the problem. What I did was rename the folder to files and reimport it.
Thank you so much, I spent 2 days trying to fix it before now!
Click the Center Button in View on your right hand side of Xcode.
In your Bottom bar, you'll see error: failed to attach to process ID 0.
Check these error: failed to attach to process ID 0 and Xcode compiles my App, but can't run it in the simulator
This sometimes gets fixed by these steps:
iOS Simulator > Reset Content and Settings ... > Reset
Xcode > Build and Run
I experienced the same issue after I had re-organized some code and renamed the workspace and project. Eventually realized there was an old version of my test app on the simulator's homescreen. I delete that and then everything was building fine again.
You might need to add the device to the provisioning profile. I experienced this on Xcode 6 and a real device.
I want to change my App icon, so, I delete (move to trash) Icon.png and Icon#2x.png in the project navigator, in summary view I have added the new icons and they are added to my project, and I see them in the summary
But, when I install the app, the icon is the previous one. How can I clean the previous icon in order to install the new one?
Sometimes when building direct to the device it doesn't work first time.
I find I have to clean the project and delete the app from the device/simulator to get the new icon.
Just Clean And Build And Delete The app from Simulator . it will work
Just do this... This will solve your problem..
You have to reset the simulator.
I had an old app icon in xcode that I had just attached to the program to see how it looked in the simulator. I made changes, deleted the images, and replaced them in Xcode. However, they are still the old ones in the simulator. I tried resetting it and everything. Does it keep a cache somewhere?
EDIT: Solved by cleaning project.
Have you tried cleaning?
From the Xcode "Product" menu, choose "Clean" or "Clean Build Folder" if you hold alt/option.
If "Clean" does not work, try this:
Reboot the device
Kill the app before running it from Xcode.
Those works in my case.
I click on the XIB via the project navigator. It opens up and immediately changes the icon to gray showing I have unsaved changes. If I save changes, click on a different file and click back to re-open it, more changes. Always modifies on open.
It happens with one XIB file in this project and a couple in another project. I'd love to know why it's happening and what I can do to fix it now and prevent it in the future.
Note: using Xcode 3.2 Build 4C199 with Snow Leopard
Edit: I've added a couple sections which got removed from the XML on one of these open/modifications
<key>outlets</key>
<dict>
<key>addEventTabBarController</key>
<string>UITabBarController</string>
<key>window</key>
<string>UIWindow</string>
</dict>
<key>superclass</key>
<string>NSObject</string>
and
<key>outlets</key>
<dict>
<key>courseTableCell</key>
<string>UITableViewCell</string>
</dict>
<key>superclass</key>
<string>UITableViewController</string>
I wound up submitting this issue to Apple. Their response was unenlightening, and talking about possible optimizations, updating meta data for new version of Xcode and the like.
I tracked 100 versions from clicking off and on the file. As Apple said, it was "optimizing" every time, but each time it simply moved some XML tags around. Never happy with it's own optimizations it moved them around the next time they were opened. I'd consider it a bug with Xcode, annoying, but mostly harmless.
This only happened with old XIBs and either moving the contents into a new XIB file or (what really happened) Storyboards got rid of the issue.
I did not want to use storyboards as suggested in one of the other answers.
Here is an alternative simple/quick fix.
Go to the Interface Builder Document Properties on the inspector when selecting the xib view file.
Then you need to
change "Deployment" to something different from Project SDK, in my case I set it to the latest iOS version (iOS 6 currently).
change the development to something different from "Previous version", in my case I set it to the latest Xcode version 4.5
I run Xcode 4.5.2 on Lion.
Hope this helps.
basic Idea...
XCode stores lots of version numbers of all different sorts of things. If you look at the XML representation of the XIB, you should find that the vast majority of these little changes are in these version numbers.
How it happens...
Whenever you do an update of Xcode, many different things within Xcode (and often inside the SDK) get updated. If you make a change to a XIB file, those version changes get stood in the XIB. So, if you happen to open a XIB file, the version changes get put into that file. As soon as you build or run the app, those changed get saved to the file.
But I haven't update Xcode in a while!
Well, whenever you did your last update, the XIB files will be updated with the new version numbers as you open them, one-by-one over time.
Edit XCode 4 is better now, (maybe), if you're tempted to vote this down then ask yourself, "Have I migrated from XCode 3 to XCode 4 using Versioning?" If no, then you have no idea what you're doing, and please don't vote on this. If you have, you know how bad you suffered, but yes this question is otherwise dead. If you do find yourself opening a legacy project, just recreate it and copy the files.
I don't know the exact answer, but I do know these things will help you find it:
XCode 4 is notorious for screwing things up.
If you put your directory into a Versioning system, (Git), then grab GitBox and save your project to give it a state and create a git repo out of it. The git repo will save the state. Gitbox will visually show you the changes.
After opening it, you'll be able to right-click on that file in GitBox and hit "see difference" or "view changes" or whatnot.
You will be auto-scrolled to the lines. If you can relate the XML to the Xib, you can figure out what changes.
I went from Lion to Snow Leopard, so I don't deal with this anymore.
I'm developing a new app but I've a little issue with Interface Builder...
I've installed Xcode 3.2.3 and iPhone SDK 4.0 GM.
When I create a new Tab Bar Application project in Xcode, opening the MainWindow.xib file in IB, the Tab Bar Controller won't open... I tried reclicking it but nothing!
I also uninstalled and reinstalled all developer tools but without any results...
Finally if I try to build and run the project in the simulator, the tab bar controller shows normally!
Can anyone help me? :)
It sounds like something similar to what I have experienced with my projects and the new sdk. Some of my IB files such as ones that contain UIViews when double clicking on them they refuse to open.
I haven't had to reinstall or nothing usually quitting IB and xcode and restarting helps I can't remember if I have done anything else to fix it. It may be an issue with the new 3.2.3 xcode as I don't recall having anything like this happen in my 3.2.2 build.
If it becomes a large problem for you have you considered removing the tab bar and rebuilding it? Just a thought. It may be troublesome to do so but if it fixes it and allows you to continue coding your project it would be worth it.
You said in your question that you're running iPhone SDK 3.2.3 with iOS4 GM. You should update your SDK, as the SDK is now at version 4.0 officially.
Otherwise, it sounds like your Xcode installation is somehow corrupted in some way. You may need a complete reinstall.
