How to Navigate through WEPopoverController in Iphone? - iphone

Ha ii ,i am using WEPopOverController to popup a page,the page name is account page,when i tap the button in the main page it popups the account page,in account page i have 5 buttons,i write action for each button to navigate to another page.My issue is when i tap the button i didn't navigate to next page,i tried every thing but no luck,is there navigation is not possible in we popover?.
Thanks in advance.

Try this:
UINavigationController *navigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:delegate.rootViewController];
self.popoverController = [[[UIPopoverController alloc] initWithContentViewController:navigationController] autorelease];
[navigationController release];
If this wont work, i would say it's just a bad practice, making navigation hierarchy.
it's much more better to assign to buttons new Popovers. I had an big app where a popover was called from a popover called from a popover called from a popover, because in general there was a rich hierarchy of navigation through settings.
It looked pretty cool and easy in navigation, so i would advice you to do it as well.

Xcode 4.1 Add and View TabBarController with existing ViewController

First of all sorry for my bad english and Im pretty new in these forums and Xcode programing.
So, Im writing an IPhone app with Xcode 4.1, that has Login and Register stuff visualized with UIViewController. When Im logged in, I need to visualize TabBar with different views.
I tried a lot of stuff and watched a lot of tutorials, all of them just start with the TabBarController, but I don't need it from the beginning, I just need to call it later.
The right way I believe should be just create new file .h, .m and .xib, then add the TabBarController and do a relation between TabBarController - view and File's Owner - view... but it don't let me do this thing. Obviously it don't visualize the right window.
How is the right way to do it?
Please help me, before my hair fall off...
Use the UITabBarController as the root view controller, but display a modal registration / logon view controller over the top when the app begins.
Once the user has logged in, dismiss the modal view controller to reveal the tab bar controller below.
You just use this code in your login button click or next viewcontroller viewwillappers method
UITabBarController *tabbar1 = [[UITabBarController alloc] init];
firstViewcontroller *second = [[firstViewcontroller alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil];
second.title=#"";
SecondViewController *third=[[SecondViewController alloc]initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil];
third.title=#"";
thirdViewController *one=[[thirdViewController alloc]initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil];
one.title=#"";
tabbar1.viewControllers = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:one, second,third,nil];
tabbar1.view.frame=CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 460);
[self.view addSubview:tabbar1.view];
I am sure it will work for you i always use this code for create tab bar in any view.

iPhone Create View Before TabBarController on tab bar application template

I'm getting pretty good at using xcode and objective c, but only from the templates.
I wish my application to load to a view to login before it reaches the tab bar controller that i have set up.
I believe this can be done in the 'didfinishlaunchingwithoptions' section of the app delegate but after that I don't have any idea how once the login is successful that i can show the tab controller again.
i'll be grateful for any help :)
Use modal views for this.
Sample example here.
I think you want something like this
LoginViewController *loginViewController = [[[LoginViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"LoginViewController" bundle:nil] autorelease];
[tabBarController presentModalViewController:loginViewController animated:YES];
inside didfinishlaunchingwithoptions

not getting tab view when we press back

hii every one
i have created a test project with tab view controller, on click of a tab it will goto that coresponding screen(say screen A) when i click back button in screen A it will come back to main page but with out tabView,
following is may code for back button where DataEntry is a class name to where i am navigating
DataEntry *avController;
UINavigationController *addNavigationController;
if(avController == nil)
avController = [[DataEntry alloc] initWithNibName:nil bundle:nil];
if(addNavigationController == nil)
addNavigationController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:avController];
//avController.modalTransitionStyle = UIModalTransitionStyleFlipHorizontal;
[self.navigationController presentModalViewController:addNavigationController animated:YES];
insted of the above code if i use following code
[self.navigationController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES];
it will work fine & ill get back to main page with tabs , but it wont run the updated code which is in the viewDidLoad so i need to navigate to the main page insted of using dismissModalViewController
can any one tell me how can i get tabView when i navigate to the main page with out using dismissModalViewController
this is not correct:
[self.navigationController presentModalViewController:addNavigationController animated:YES];
(this is not what you mean to have: it will present a modal view, when you dismiss it, it will uncover what was below, i.e. your tab)
you should use pushViewController to show your avController so that the back button is activated and so on.
look at this.
I'm struggling a little to understand your problem, but viewDidLoad only runs when the view loads: not when you come back to screen A : its still loaded then. To run code each time screen A is displayed, take a look at viewWillAppear / viewDidAppear http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/#documentation/uikit/reference/UIViewController_Class/Reference/Reference.html
I tend to create tabs programatically rather than using the IB: its clearer whats going on. Take a look at this answer to show how I do it.

Showing a modal view controller from a tab bar app

First, I would like to warn that I am a complete newbie into iPhone coding...
I need to show up a viewcontroller from a library, I know that it is modal. I have a tab bar app (created with the default XCode template). I need to show that viewcontroller, there are no problem if it hides the tabbar itself... But I am quite clueless, I don't know even what to search, or what to read...
You can call presentModalViewController:animated: to display another UIViewController modally.
EDIT: If you want to display your modal view in response to a button touch (for example), you would display it like this:
- (IBAction)buttonTouched:(id)sender
{
ModalViewController* controller = [[ModalViewController alloc] init];
[self presentModalViewController:controller animated:YES];
[controller release];
}
Then when you want to dismiss the modal controller, call dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:. This can be called either on your main view controller, or the modal one.
I don't know even what to search, or
what to read...
View Controller Programming Guide is a good place to start to help you understand view controllers (including modal ones). If that's confusing, get a bigger picture with iOS Application Programming Guide or start at the very beginning.
You can call modal view as
YourViewController *yvc = [[YourViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"YourViewController" bundle:YES]
[self presentModalViewController:yvc animated:YES];
You can call it in the IBAction method in case you want to call it on any control event like Button Click
-(IBAction)buttonClicked:(id)sender
{
YourViewController *yvc = [[YourViewController alloc] initWithNibName:#"YourViewController" bundle:YES]
[self presentModalViewController:yvc animated:YES];
}
You can call it using self.
Hope this helps you.

How to create a Main Menu that links to another view? (When developing iPhone Apps)

I'm a newbie programmer and I have played around with the SDK for a while. How do you create a homepage that has a button that will bring you to another view (the content of the app)??? If you know can you list the steps in order or link a tutorial site (It woul be awesome if the steps had code with it I needed). Thanks!
I would recommend getting a good book on iPhone programming. What you want to do is set up a UINavigationController, add the button to the first view, set the action of the button's touchUpInside to call the showContent method. Then implement the showContent method to push the Content view controller.
- (IBAction) showContent{
ContentViewController *myContentController = [[ContentViewController alloc] init];
myContentController.title = #"Content";
[self.navigationController pushViewController:myContentController animated:YES];
[myContentController release];
}
Have a read up on the documentation for pushViewController and UINavigationControllers, then follow this tutorial.
