a few days ago my facebook share button stopped working. I can still share, but I dont get any fb meta data with, when sharing it.
When i try to linter it:

If i just copy the source code, and make a plain HTML file, post it on a server and linter it, it works with all meta data. (really I just need to have the fB thumbnail image working, when sharing)
I run W3 Total Cache and CDN (amazon) and I read that this might be why, but when i disable W3 Total Cache, I still get the error.
I spend 10 hours trying to figure it out today. Can someone help me?

I have has problems with this myself. The errors you receive are utterly useless, as I am sure the problem is it really a bad response code.
I am truly sorry that I do not remember my fix for this earlier, but I will try to remember.
Just make sure you have added an app_id and an administrator id to your metadata.
Facebook can suddenly change their required parameters, so they might have done just that.

I understand that this might be too specific but I am still quite new and having some difficulty figuring this out. So, I am hoping someone can offer up a clear command which can achieve my goal.
My goal is to download a page from Moodle. Now, this is Moodle 3.9 but I don't think this matters. The page is a wiki which is part of Moodle. So, there are child pages, links, images, etc. Now, each student gets their own wiki and it is available by URL. However, one must be logged in to access the URL or else a login page will show up.
I did review this question, which seemed like it would help. It even has an answer here which seems specific to Moodle.
By investigating each of the answers, I learned how to get the cookies from Firefox. So, I tried logging into Moodle in my browser, then getting the cookie for the session and using that in wget, according to the Moodle answer cited above.
Everything I try results in a response in Terminal like:
Redirecting output to 'wget-log.4'
I then found out where wget-log files are stored and checked the contents, which seemed to be the login page from Moodle. While I am quite sure I got the cookie correct (copy-and-paste) I am not sure I got everything else correct.
Try as I might (for a couple of hours), I could not get any of the answers to work.
My best guess for the command is as follows:
wget --no-cookies --header "Cookie: MoodleSession=3q00000000009nr8i79uehukm" https://myfancydomainname.edu/mod/ouwiki/view.php?id=7&user=160456
It just redirects me to the wget-log file (which has the Moodle login page).
I should not need any post data since once logged into my browser, I can simply paste this URL and it will take me to the page in question.
Any ideas what the command might be? If not, any idea how I could get some pretty clear (step-by-step) instructions how to figure it out?
Humbly asking for any assistance people have time to give me on this one. Let me start by saying that I am aware there are previous questions about this on this site and elsewhere on the web; I have read a lot of them, and they are either unanswered/resolved, had a particular cause that doesn't apply to me, or suggests things I have already done.
Over the past few days, Facebook has suddenly stopped scraping my website posts successfully, so when I paste a link into Facebook it pulls nothing through - no thumb or description. I run the links through the FB lint/debugger, and it alternates between 403 and 503 response codes, but mainly 403. Previous links that Facebook has cached/successfully scraped still display with thumbs and desc, but still present as a 403 or 503 response.

I have checked with the server/host people. Nothing has changed, everything fine.
I have tried with the default wordpress theme. No change.
I have read threads about Bullet Proof Security causing issues, although why it suddenly would I don't know. It was deactivated on my site anyway, but I went through the removal process to remove the htaccess file with the BPS code in it. I have then run debug without an htaccess file present, and with a very basic htaccess present. No change.
Hotlinking protection is disabled in my cpanel.
I have experimented with adding/removing www. and / when I paste the link into lint as someone suggested. No change.
I use Facebook OGP Wordpress plugin. I spoke to the creator and he says the plugin is working as it should and to contact my host/server. See bullet one.
I tried creating a new FB App and using the new App Id number with the OGP plugin. No change.
Checked the cpanel error log. This came up three times tonight:

There are a few other things I ruled out but I've been at this for so long I can't remember all of them, so if someone suggests something else I've tried then I apologise for not mentioning it here in advance.
If anyone can suggest anything else, I would really appreciate it. I manage to fix most technical problems I come up against, but this has stumped me and my much more experienced colleague and it is really affecting my clickthrough rates and site traffic. If it comes down to adding things to my htaccess file, I would appreciate guidance on what to add/remove. Many thanks in advance.
I had the same problem. Drove me crazy for hours (maybe days). In your FB app settings make sure that the top Facebook url has http://
I am having a go at trying to get the Facebook API SDK for ColdFusion working.

I have followed all the steps and it seems to work well (using only server-side login).
However, if I leave the page for say, an hour, when I return and refresh the page (which was showing my profile name and friends list) it shows up with an error that I am unable to get rid of, unless I clear the cookies.
Is there something I am missing with this FB login? Am I meant to be checking against something manually in order to persist the session?
Looking at my cookies, I have the following stored:

CFTOKEN
It's all new to me, so I'm a bit lost. I can't see anything in the docs for the SDK about this and Googling the error brings nothing.

I'm not familiar enough with that particular project, but in general, your code should be requesting the various Graph API calls, and requesting the token as necessary. If the token has expired, you request a new one. I'd expect the facebook-cf-sdk product to do this, but again, I'm unfamiliar with it.
Good news is, the Facebook Graph API is just a series of HTTP calls. See my talk at NC DevCon for an example of logging in and making some graph calls: (a bit long; go to about the 1:42:00 mark)

Ok, I figured out how to solve this issue using a solution someone provided on Github. I just wanted to post this here in case someone else encountered the issue and wasn't sure how to solve it. In my case however, after I applied the solution from that post was I need to do a page refresh. Link below.

I've been at this for almost 3 days straight and now I can't even think clearly anymore.
All I'm trying to do is to get my featured image thumbnail to appear when I paste the link in Facebook.
I'm using the Wordpress Facebook Open Graph protocol plugin which generates all the correct og meta properties.
My thumbnail images are 240x200px which respects the minimum requirements and also respects the 3:1 ratio
I've made sure there's no trailing slash at the end of my post URLs
When I use the Facebook Object Debugger, the only warning is in regards to my locale, but that shouldn't affect it.
Facebook appears to be pulling the right image, at least the URL is correct, but the image appears as a blank square
I've gone through pretty much every thread I could find in forums, but all the information available is about using the correct og tags, which I believe I'm already doing.

You can troubleshoot the OpenGraph meta tags with the Debugger https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug - this can at least show if you're using the meta tags properly and if Facebook can 'read' the image.
I finally figured out that the root of my issue was the fact that I was using an addon domain (which is really a subdomain being redirected to the top level domain) and I read on eHow (of all places :) ) that Facebook has trouble pulling data from redirected domains.
Not sure if there was another way around it, but I simply ended up creating a seperate hosting account and everything is loading properly now.
one problem youre going to run into testing is that often the first time your page or post gets liked, fb keeps whatever img it finds in your meta tags or by searching your page. so, you'll keep changing your img meta tag and still it wont show the right pic. it's very anoying. One way to get around it is to change the slug of your post. now, it has a different url and to fb, it's a different page. The downside is you lose all the likes that go with your orig url. Not a problem with a new site.

Please bear in mind that the facebook scraper works asynchronously and will need some time (during my tests around 10 minutes) to be able to display an image after seeing it for the first time.

Indeed, as Andy Wibbels points out the FB debugger is a really handy tool.
I faced a similar issue with a server's og:image tag pointing to a secure subdomain which actually mirrors a CDN server,

The FB debugging tool allows you to see the errors that FB encounters when trying to pull the image.
In my case the subdomain was not registered under the SSL certificate used by the HTTPS protocol. Hence FB was getting the following error,
Curl Error : SSL_CACERT SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate
I have a game in Facebook and suddenly a new problem came out. In Chrome, Safari, Opera and Internet Explorer work fine. In Firefox the Facebook page loads good but when the game iframe starts loading, it gets a points that automatically reload the whole page. I can not understand what's happening. Anyone could know the issue?
You need to either accept third party cookies or locate the one cookie it needs to load (seems to be the developers's own website usually - look into the list of cookies currently stored on your computer in ff options) and whitelist(allow) that.
Since that answer is nowhere on the net and I just spent one hour trying to figure it out to fix the same problem I'm putting it here in the hope it'll help.
Well, it is good know problem for me, about half year ago I got the same also with Firefox. In my app real problem was that, firefox with his AJAX action, lost somewhere access token from parent window/frame...
My advice: try to stick access token to AJAX's request too.

Unfortunatelly, now I can't see any token in url into my app frame... but what I did then was something like that: (using jQuery):
$.get("http://mydomain/getInfo?id=12345 + '&' + (location.href.split('?'))[1])
where location.href.split('?'))[1] add session/access token to my intern AJAX request.
Anyway, if application works fine few days ago, check official facebook dev forum, there is often some cause on facebook side...
