I have a problem with setting new frame to uiview object.
here is my code:
UIImageView *blockImage=[[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, [y doubleValue], self.view.frame.size.width, 86)];
[blockImage setImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"mainscreen_block_sample.jpg"]];
[blockImage setBackgroundColor:[UIColor blackColor]];
//setting anchor point
[blockImage.layer setAnchorPoint:CGPointMake(0.5, 1.0)];
//preparing transform
float distance = 500;
CATransform3D basicTrans = CATransform3DIdentity;
basicTrans.m34 = 1.0 / -distance;
//calculating angle
double OF=oldSize/2.0-difference;
double OC=oldSize/2.0;
double angle= acosf(OF/OC);
angle=angle/2.0;
//transforming
blockImage.layer.transform = CATransform3DRotate(basicTrans, angle, 1.0f, 0.0f, 0.0f);
double newOriginY=[y doubleValue]-difference;
double newFrameHeight=blockImage.frame.size.height;
[blockImage setFrame:CGRectMake(0, newOriginY, blockImage.frame.size.width, newFrameHeight)];
NSLog(#" blockImage frame y: %g", blockImage.frame.origin.y);
NSLog(#" blockImage frame height: %g", blockImage.frame.size.height);
//adding subview
[blocks addObject:blockImage];
[self.view addSubview:[blocks objectAtIndex:([blocks count]-1)]];
//releasing memory
[blockImage release];
The NSLog output is not desirable :(
values of new rect:
newOriginY: 78
newFrameHeight: 77.82
but NSLog is different:
blockImage frame y: 85.0665
blockImage frame height: 70.7535
If you're applying a transform then the frame property should be ignored. You should set the bounds and the center appropriately. The documentation for UIView states this.

I'm fooling around with Apple's ScrollViewSuite, TapToZoom app, trying to place a view on the zoomed image. Here's what I want to do: on double tap, rotate the image by pi/2, zoom it by a factor of 8, then place a subview in the scrollView on top of the transformed image.
I know the view's desired frame in the original coordinate system. So I need to transform those coordinates to the new system after the zoom...
From the ScrollViewSuite...
- (void)handleDoubleTap:(UIGestureRecognizer *)gestureRecognizer {
// double tap zooms in
float newScale = [imageScrollView zoomScale] * 8; // my custom zoom
CGRect zoomRect = [self zoomRectForScale:newScale withCenter:[gestureRecognizer locationInView:gestureRecognizer.view]];
[imageScrollView zoomToRect:zoomRect animated:YES];
[self rotateView:imageScrollView by:M_PI_2]; // then the twist
}
My rotation code...
- (void)rotateView:(UIView *)anImageView by:(CGFloat)spin {
[UIView animateWithDuration:0.5 delay: 0.0
options: UIViewAnimationOptionAllowUserInteraction
animations:^{
anImageView.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(spin);
}
completion:^(BOOL finished){}];
}
Then, after the zoom is finished, place a view at a known location in the original coordinate system. This is where I think I need some help...
- (void)scrollViewDidEndZooming:(UIScrollView *)scrollView withView:(UIView *)view atScale:(float)_scale {
CGFloat coX = scrollView.contentOffset.x;
CGFloat coY = scrollView.contentOffset.y;
// try to build the forward transformation that got us here, then invert it
CGAffineTransform rotate = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(M_PI_2);
CGAffineTransform scale = CGAffineTransformMakeScale(_scale, _scale);
// should these be negative? some confusion here.
CGAffineTransform translate = CGAffineTransformMakeTranslation(coX, coY);
// what's the right order of concatenation on these? more confusion
CGAffineTransform aft0 = CGAffineTransformConcat(rotate, scale);
CGAffineTransform aft1 = CGAffineTransformConcat(aft0, translate);
// invert it
CGAffineTransform aft = CGAffineTransformInvert(aft1);
// this is the fixed rect in original coordinate system of the image
// the image is at 0,0 320, 300 in the view, so this will only work
// when the image is at the origin... need to fix that later,too.
CGRect rect = CGRectMake(248, 40, 90, 160);
CGRect xformRect = CGRectApplyAffineTransform(rect, aft);
// build a subview with this rect
UIView *newView = [scrollView viewWithTag:888];
if (!newView) {
newView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:xformRect];
newView.backgroundColor = [UIColor yellowColor];
newView.tag = 888;
[scrollView addSubview:newView];
} else {
newView.frame = xformRect;
}
// see where it landed...
NSLog(#"%f,%f %f,%f", xformRect.origin.x, xformRect.origin.y, xformRect.size.width, xformRect.size.height);
}
I want to display an image in iPhone application on the whole screen but with a semi curve shape.
The image should start from the corner touching and ends on touching the another corner. I don't have an idea to make this can anyone help me please.
This image table is semi curved but image should be displayed on semi curved shape
Changing the image to be curvical or playing with images can be achieved Using CALayer. Every imageView has a layer over it. Use it to show the effect. The effect you wanted on your table image can be acheived through this code:-
-(void) viewDidLoad{
[self paperCurlShadowImage];
}
-(void) paperCurlShadowImage{
imgView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image];
imgView.frame=CGRectMake(0, 0, image.size.width, image.size.height);
[self.view addSubview:imgView];
imgView.layer.shadowColor = [UIColor blackColor].CGColor;
imgView.layer.shadowOpacity = 0.7f;
imgView.layer.shadowOffset = CGSizeMake(10.0f, 10.0f);
imgView.layer.shadowRadius = 2.0f;
imgView.layer.masksToBounds = NO;
imgView.layer.shadowPath = [self renderPaperCurl:imgView];
[imgView release];
}
- (CGPathRef)renderPaperCurl:(UIView*)imgView1 {
CGSize size = imgView1.bounds.size;
CGFloat curlFactor = 15.0f;
CGFloat shadowDepth = 5.0f;
UIBezierPath *path = [UIBezierPath bezierPath];
[path moveToPoint:CGPointMake(0.0f, 0.0f)];
[path addLineToPoint:CGPointMake(size.width, 0.0f)];
[path addLineToPoint:CGPointMake(size.width, size.height + shadowDepth)];
[path addCurveToPoint:CGPointMake(0.0f, size.height + shadowDepth)
controlPoint1:CGPointMake(size.width - curlFactor, size.height + shadowDepth - curlFactor)
controlPoint2:CGPointMake(curlFactor, size.height + shadowDepth - curlFactor)];
return path.CGPath;
}
Edit: It seems that the origin point's components are been multiplied by 2 when drawing the PDF page. Is something I'm doing causing this?
I have a UIViewController that displays a PDF page on a UIScrollView. the PDF page itself is drawn on a CATiledLayer, however, when my view controller draws the layer there is a considerable offset between the layer's bounds and the drawn PDF. As you can see in the picture, the page should have been drawn on the yellow view:
Here is the relevant code that draws the page:
- (void)refreshPage
{
if(contentView) {
for(UIView *v in self.view.subviews) {
[v removeFromSuperview];
[v release];
}
}
CGRect pageRect = CGRectIntegral(CGPDFPageGetBoxRect(self._document.page, kCGPDFCropBox));
pageRect.origin.x = ((self.view.frame.size.width / 2) - (pageRect.size.width / 2));
CATiledLayer *tiledLayer = [CATiledLayer layer];
tiledLayer.delegate = self;
tiledLayer.tileSize = CGSizeMake(1024.0, 1024.0);
tiledLayer.levelsOfDetail = 1000;
tiledLayer.levelsOfDetailBias = 1000;
tiledLayer.frame = pageRect;
contentView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:pageRect];
[contentView.layer addSublayer:tiledLayer];
CGRect viewFrame = self.view.frame;
viewFrame.origin = CGPointZero;
UIScrollView *scrollView = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:viewFrame];
//[scrollView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor cyanColor]];
//[contentView setBackgroundColor:[UIColor yellowColor]];
scrollView.delegate = self;
scrollView.contentSize = pageRect.size;
scrollView.maximumZoomScale = 1000;
[scrollView addSubview:contentView];
[self.view addSubview:scrollView];
pagingViewController = [[PDFPagingViewController alloc] initWithDocument:self._document AndObserver:self];
[self.view addSubview:pagingViewController.view];
}
- (UIView *)viewForZoomingInScrollView:(UIScrollView *)scrollView
{
return contentView;
}
- (void)drawLayer:(CALayer *)layer inContext:(CGContextRef)ctx
{
if(self._document) {
[layer setBackgroundColor:(CGColorRef)[UIColor redColor]];
CGRect drawingRect = CGContextGetClipBoundingBox(ctx);
CGContextSetRGBFillColor(ctx, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0, 1.0);
CGContextFillRect(ctx, drawingRect);
CGContextTranslateCTM(ctx, 0.0, layer.bounds.size.height);
CGContextScaleCTM(ctx, 1.0, -1.0);
CGContextConcatCTM(ctx, CGPDFPageGetDrawingTransform(self._document.page, kCGPDFCropBox, layer.bounds, 0, true));
CGContextDrawPDFPage(ctx, self._document.page);
}
}
You need to change when you set the pageRect's origin (which I assume you do to center in the view). You are setting both the layer's frame and the contentView's frame to the offset pageRect when you really intend to offset only one.
-(void)refreshPage {
//...
CGRect pageRect = CGRectIntegral(CGPDFPageGetBoxRect(self._document.page, kCGPDFCropBox));
CATiledLayer *tiledLayer = [CATiledLayer layer];
//...
tiledLayer.frame = pageRect;
// set the pageRect origin now to center the contentView, not the layer
pageRect.origin.x = ((self.view.frame.size.width / 2) - (pageRect.size.width / 2));
contentView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:pageRect];
[contentView.layer addSublayer:tiledLayer];
//...
}
I have to rotate a UIImage before I save it out to file. I've tried a number of methods, some of which seem to work for other people, but all it seems to do it turn my image solid white. Here's my code:
CGFloat radians = 90.0f * M_PI/180;
UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(image.size);
CGContextRef ctx = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext();
CGContextConcatCTM(ctx, CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(radians));
CGContextDrawImage(ctx, CGRectMake(0, 0, image.size.width, image.size.height), image.CGImage);
image = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext();
UIGraphicsEndImageContext();
Can anyone spot what I'm doing wrong? The variable "image" is a UIImage.
- (UIImage *)imageRotatedByRadians:(CGFloat)radians
{
// calculate the size of the rotated view's containing box for our drawing space
UIView *rotatedViewBox = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,0,self.size.width, self.size.height)];
CGAffineTransform t = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(radians);
rotatedViewBox.transform = t;
CGSize rotatedSize = rotatedViewBox.frame.size;
// Create the bitmap context
UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(rotatedSize);
CGContextRef bitmap = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext();
// Move the origin to the middle of the image so we will rotate and scale around the center.
CGContextTranslateCTM(bitmap, rotatedSize.width/2, rotatedSize.height/2);
//Rotate the image context
CGContextRotateCTM(bitmap, radians);
// Now, draw the rotated/scaled image into the context
CGContextScaleCTM(bitmap, 1.0, -1.0);
CGContextDrawImage(bitmap, CGRectMake(-self.size.width / 2, -self.size.height / 2, self.size.width, self.size.height), [self CGImage]);
UIImage *newImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext();
UIGraphicsEndImageContext();
return newImage;
}
I believe you are not taking into account that the coordinate system for iPhone and Quartz Coordinate system are different.
try putting these two lines before CGContextConcatCTM.
// to account for Quartz coordinate system.
CGContextScaleCTM(cx, 1, -1);
CGContextTranslateCTM(ctx, 0, -longerSide); // width or height depending on the orientation
I suggest to put your image in UIImageView and then use following code:
- (void)setupRotatingButtons
{
// call this method once; make sure "self.view" is not nil or the button
// won't appear. the below variables are needed in the #interface.
// center: the center of rotation
// radius: the radius
// time: a CGFloat that determines where in the cycle the button is located at
// (note: it will keep increasing indefinitely; you need to use
// modulus to find a meaningful value for the current position, if
// needed)
// speed: the speed of the rotation, where 2 * 3.1415 is **roughly** 1 lap a
// second
center = CGPointMake(240, 160);
radius = 110;
time = 0;
speed = .3 * 3.1415; // <-- will rotate CW 360 degrees per .3 SECOND (1 "lap"/s)
CADisplayLink *dl = [CADisplayLink displayLinkWithTarget:self selector:#selector(continueCircling:)];
[dl addToRunLoop:[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] forMode:NSDefaultRunLoopMode];
}
- (void)continueCircling:(CADisplayLink *)dl
{
time += speed * dl.duration;
//here rotate your image view
yourImageView.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation(time);
}
Use following code to rotate:
UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc]initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:#"image1.png"]];
[imageView setFrame:CGRectMake(0.0f, 0.0f,100.0f, 100.0f)];
[self.view addSubview:imageView];
self.imageView.transform = CGAffineTransformMakeRotation((90.0f * M_PI) / 180.0f);
HI everyone I'm french so scuse me for my english SO here is my question: How can we define the height and the width of view. Here it name is flakeView. Here is the code :
UIImageView* flakeView = [[[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:flakeImage] autorelease];
// use the random() function to randomize up our flake attributes
int startY = round(random() % 320);
// set the flake start position
flakeView.center = CGPointMake(490, startY);
flakeView.alpha = 1;
// put the flake in our main view
[self.view addSubview:flakeView];
[UIView animateWithDuration:7
animations:^{
// set the postion where flake will move to
flakeView.center = viewToRotate.center;
}];
CGRect frame = CGRectMake(xPosition, yPosition, width, height);
flakeView.frame = frame;
Note that xPosition and yPosition are the top left corner, not the center.
