How to set up a default image - iphone

Before i click the image to pull the camera, i want to set up a default image on the imageview that shows a http://www.inc.com/images/avatar/default1.gif to inform that in that imageview goes a person image.
What is the best way to do this procedure?
Best regards.

If you are using a UIImageView the first thing is to create a UIImage object using this code
UIImage *defaultImage = [UIImage imageNamed:#"default.png"];
And then pass it to the UIImageView object if it is a property of your view controller you can use this(imageView is the variable name of UIImageView)
self.imageView.image = defaultImage;
If you are instantiating a new UIImageView in your view controller you can use this
UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:defaultImage];

UIImageView *theImageView;
//assuming that's the declaration in your header
//make sure default1.gif is inside your application bundle
//copied into the resources folder of your xcode project
//this code goes into your -viewDidLoad method
theImageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"default1.gif"];

How do I move an existing image without Interface Builder

I created multiple images without the use of interface builder. I used this code:
for (Row* row in parser.rows) {
CGRect IphoneFrameImageRect;
IphoneFrameImageRect = CGRectMake(10, 10, 150.0f, 150.0f);
UIImageView *IphoneFrame = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:IphoneFrameImageRect];
NSString *IphoneFrameurl = [NSString stringWithFormat:#"http://some.url.com/iphone/IphoneFrame.png"];
[IphoneFrame setImage:[UIImage imageWithData: [NSData dataWithContentsOfURL: [NSURL URLWithString:IphoneFrameurl]]]];
[IphoneFrame setTag:(i)];
IphoneFrame.opaque = YES; // explicitly opaque for performance
[self.view addSubview:IphoneFrame];
[IphoneFrame release];
}
I need to move these images to a different location in landscape mode. I did tag each image and it looks I can select the images back using this tag. But how can I gave the image a new coordinate ? I have this code:
-(void)positionViews {
UIInterfaceOrientation destOrientation = self.interfaceOrientation;
int i=4; //Picture with tag=4 for example
UIImage *tempImage=(UIImage *)[self.view viewWithTag:(i)];
// HOW TO MOVE ??
}
I am able to do this with a button using this code:
UIButton *tempButton=(UIButton *)[self.view viewWithTag:i];
[temp setFrame:CGRectMake(x, y, X10ButtonWidth, X10ButtonHeight)];
You are mixing up two different things / classes :
UIImage that represent image data, with its pixels, in memory
UIImageView that represent a view to display an image onscreen.
If it's more clear to you, an UIImage is to UIImageView what NSString is for an UILabel. The object representing the data/content is different from the view that can display it on screen.
So when you want to retrieve your imageview using the tag you set, you retrieve a view, especially an UIImageView for what matters, not an UIImage.
Change your cast to UIImageView and you will be able to call setFrame: on it the same way you do for your UIButton (as setFrame: is a method of the UIView class, and both UIImageView and UIButton are subclasses of UIView).
UIImageView *tempImageView = (UIImageView *)[self.view viewWithTag:(i)];
[tempImageView setFrame:...];
Or don't even do any cast, as viewWithTag: returns a UIView and that's all you need if you just want to change the frame: whether it's a basic UIView or specifically a UIImageView or whatever kind of view does not matter if you just want to change the frame property, as this is a property of the generic UIView class and can be applied to any UIView, whatever specific subclass of UIView it is.
UIView *tempImageView = [self.view viewWithTag:(i)];
[tempImageView setFrame:...];

regarding UIImageView Constant Animation

I have an image I want to animate constantly in UIImageView. Like some image object to move left and right?
Thanks in advance.
Create the animation in a image editor (or something else if you already have the animation)
Then save each frame as an image. Create a folder in your Xcode project and import the files into it. (in the example below each frame is named "frame-x.png" where x is the frame number)
Then create an array of UIImages and set the UIImageView's animationImages property to it:
imageView.animationImages = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:[UIImage imageNamed:#"frame-1"],
[UIImage imageNamed:#"frame-2"],
[UIImage imageNamed:#"frame-3"],
[UIImage imageNamed:#"frame-4"],
nil];
Where you have a UIImage for each frame. You then start the animation:
[imageView startAnimation];
You can also set the animationRepeatCount property of the image view.
See the UIImageView Class Reference for more details.

Image VIew problem

How can i remove an ImageView added on a dynamically created UIView, so that i can add another ImageView on my UIView.
You either add a tag for that UIImageView and find it based on tag or loop throughout the subviews and look for an object of class UIImageView containing the image you need to change.
Easiest way is probably with tags. So...
UIImageView *removeMe = [[UIImageView alloc] init];
removeMe.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"theImage.png"];
removeMe.tag = 1;
[theView addSubview:removeMe];
[removeMe release]; //theView now retains it!
...then later:
UIImageView *removalTarget = (UIImageView *)[theView viewWithTag:1];
[removalTarget removeFromSuperview];

iPhone: Adding UIImage to UIImageView adds a second image

I have a UIImageView that I have already set an image to. This works fine, but later, I want to change that image. So, I set a new image for the image property, but when I view the app, that image is set as a second image over the first:
UIImageView *image;
image = (UIImageView *)[cell viewWithTag:0];
image.image = [UIImage imageNamed:#"History_Row2.png"];
How can I replace the current image in my UIImageView rather than seeming to add another?!
I did it by retaining the UIImageView, and keeping a reference as an ivar, releasing on dealloc.
image = (UIImageView *)[cell viewWithTag:0];
That was returning a UITableViewCell rather than a UIImageView, this is because the tag 0 is the default and it needs to be changed to a different number. After doing this it worked.

UIImageview animation problem?

i have one imageview in IB.i linked it perfectly in my view controller's IBoutlet
which is as IB_img .i have done in my viewdidload as
self.IB_img.animationImages = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:
[UIImage imageNamed:#"img_1.jpg"],
[UIImage imageNamed:#"img_2.jpg"],nil];
self.IB_img.animationDuration = 1;
self.IB_img.animationRepeatCount = 0;
[self.IB_img startAnimating];
it is not working perfectly....image is not in screen..but if i do it in without IB,in other words dynamically...it works perfectly...any help please to do animation with IB ?
You would have not set the Mose of the imageView as in required format.
You can do it as:
Try to set the one of the animation images as the image of your image view in xib(temporarily).
then set the image view's mode as strecthtofit or whatever suits you. now remove the image. and build you will see the image in proper position.
