I have a UITableView with custom cell. I have created seperate class with xib for the tableviewcell. in tableviewcell i have added a UIView, because i want to add different uiviews in the tableview.
Now I have 2 views which i want to add based on my data to the tableviewcell. i,e; if my data support view1, then i am adding view1 in an array which will be used to draw the table view & in table view drawing i am simply writing like this:
cell.parentView = [dailyExpenseViewArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];
Daily Expense View array is an array of views of type 1 & 2. Parent view is the UIview object inside tableviewcell.
My problem is i am having the view array perfectly. but in the tableview, it is showing blank rows. although the number of rows are drawn, but with blank views.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I'm not sure I fully understand your problem without seeing some more code, however I think it may be an issue with the way you're trying to display the UIView inside the cell. Have you tried the following:
[cell addSubview:[dailyExpenseViewArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]];
It is not fully clear what you are trying to do, possibly some code would help.
Anyway, if I am understanding correctly, I would suggest trying to add your views as subview to the contentView property of your cell (instead of setting parent, I mean), like this:
cell.contentView = [dailyExpenseViewArray objectAtIndex:indexPath.row];

My goal is to create a custom UITableViewCell which contains 2 UILabels. One is the title and one is the detail. The detail label should allow for 3 rows of text.
So I went on and created a custom table view cell in storyboard. I also created a subclass of UITableViewCell and linked the two together.
I the added two UILabel to the cell in storyboard and placed them where i wanted them to be and linked them to their coresponding outlets in teh subclass. Since the content of the labels varies I wanted to align the text vertically to the top. As I understand the only way to do this is by calling the sizeToFit method on the label. I execute this under in the sub class of UITableViewCell:
-(void)layoutSubviews {
[super layoutSubviews];
[self.detailTextLabel sizeToFit];
}
So far everything seems fine and the text in the detailTextLabel is aligned as it should. Although when i satrt interacting with the cell, for example slide my finger over it so the delete button appears, the detailTextLabel will change size to the size that was set in storyboard. This causes the text to be misaligned. Similar things happen when i select the cell and change to another view and the return to the table view via a tab bar
My question is: Is there any way of creating this custom cell differently using storyboard or is my only alterative to create everything programtically?

Maybe you should take a look at this if you still want to vertically align your text in your UILabel without sizeToFit (who will resize it when you will interact with your cell).
About your question, I think you can create your custom cell from a xib file like this.
I am making a custom cell which has text fields and as a result the custom cell is greater than the size of the iphone screen.But i am not being able to do horizontal scroll to reach the end of the cell.
I have tried using viewController and adding table view to it as well as creating table view controller and adding custom cell to it.
when doing it through TableViewController,I am not able to horizontally scroll it,whereas i am not getting how to add Custom cell class to the tableView object placed in viewController.I know that UITableView is a subclass of UIScrollView but not able to implement it.Please help.

as per the documentation at
A table view in the UIKit framework is limited to a single column
because it is designed for a device with a small screen. UITableView
is a subclass of UIScrollView, which allows users to scroll through
the table, although UITableView allows vertical scrolling only.
so as desired in your case you will have to take some other approach. Now using Custom cell with TextFields should not actually need you to require Horizonatl scrolling. If the text is really large you would like to consider using TextView instead of TextFields.

Ideally, you should be truncating your text. But if it is important for you to display the entire text, add a scroll view as a subview (or set it as the content view) and add your labels to the subview. Each cell will then be individually horizontally scrollable.
I was working with the grouped table view , and i wanted different controls for every row i.e switch control for 1st,radio button for 2nd ,checkbox for 3rd and so on.. how can this be implemented programmatically that is without using interface builder

This is a pretty vague question.
Obviously you need to provide the cells to the tableview in its cellForRowAtIndexPath delegate/datasource method. So, either in that method or during the initialization of your view controller, build the UITableViewCell instances that you need, adding the various controls that you want to them as subviews and connecting the controls to your view controller so you can detect when they have been changed. Then just return the appropriate cell in the cellForRowAtIndexPath method.
Personally, I think it's a lot easier to use IB in cases like this. Just create an IBOutlet instance variable for each custom cell you want, and return the right cell in cellForRowAtIndexPath.
I have a TableView with one cell and I want to insert in this cell a lot of text so I think I'll need to use a ScrollView for scroll the text.

While I concur with 7KV7's original comment, it doesn't look like there is need of a tableview in this scenario...
Just in case someone else happens upon this looking for an answer to the "Scrollview in a Tableview" question here are few clarifying points for the above comments.
The technical problem with having a tableview and a scrollview together on the same view is that UITableView is already a descendent of UIScrollView and if you attempt to handle both in the same view then you will end up with quite a mess with conflicting delegate messages.
As suggested by iPhonePgr, you can create a custom UITableViewCell. The first thought would be to let the UITableViewCell act as the delegate for it's own scroll view. The problem here is that the cell and it's contents could be discarded or reused at any moment as part of tableview's dequeue functionality.
So some ground rules to guide your implementation:
Whatever your solution, you're probably going to end up making a custom controller class, possibly derived from NSObject and implementing UIScrollViewDelegate.
The custom controller object acts as the mediator between the model object and the cell.
You will probably have an array or array-of-arrays that mirrors the model hierarchy driving the UITableView structure.
Because the cells can be discarded at any time you will have restore the scroll view state on cell initialization and preserve the state has part of handling your delegate actions or through a custom UITableViewCell implementing prepareForReuse.
Hopefully these points will come in useful to anyone who runs across this entry.
You need to create a custom cell by inheriting UITableViewCell and then add UIScrollView in the customcell. Then Use that cell in the Table view.
you can put your text in UITextView and add it as a subview in your UITableViewCell,because
UITextView is inherited from UIScrollView,

When you create UITableView you implement a number of delegate method which you can see by pressing the window key and then double clicking the UITableView delegate . In one of the methods you can set the cell height as per your requirement. By doing this your cell height can vary.

As your table has a defined height, when the text in cell will be too much to contain into a scrollview will be automatically inserted.
I need some help.
I've got a segmented control. if segment 0 is clicked it shows a UIView, containing a uitableview.
If segment 2 is clicked it shows another UIView which contains a uitableview as well.
These two tableviews got the same datasource. But i want the second tableview to have an other datasource. SO i thougth of loading another nib into the second uiview containing a the tableview which gets its data from the corresponding .m file.
I don't know wheather this is the best solution. If you've got any other ideas let me know :)

I think the best way to do this is to have just one table view. In the cellForRow method have a conditional which queries the state of the segmented control. Depending on the result of that if statement, return the type of cell you want. In addition, in your segmented control callback you'll have to do a [tableView reloadData]
Do you know that you can have the same tableview display different data sets? You don' have to use an entirely different NIB just to change UITableViews so you can display different data. Or am I understanding your question incorrectly?
