I'm running into a weird issue with submit buttons in IE9. When the "Continue" or "Back" input is clicked, the value disappears.
I don't think you should be putting an onclick event on a submit input. A better way to do it would be put an onsubmit on the form and put a javascript function in it which dictates the action of the form depending on the value of the submit button value
Update: The issue ended up being a js conflict.

I want to create a settings-dialog in my wicket page. I created a ModalWindow that contains a form to achieve this. This works great, the dialog shows up and it contains the form but now I need to return some of these values in the form back to the caller page. Is there someone who could give me pointers on how to do this?
Thanks in advance.
Quote from ModalWindow API:
"If you want to use form in modal window component make sure that you
put the modal window itself in another form (nesting forms is legal in
Wicket) and that the form on modal window is submitted before the
window get closed"
This way when you submit the form in the modal window actually the parent form gets submitted and you get the values transferred.
I have this weird issue with a form on one of my sites. Form have 2 input fields a text input and a textarea under it. Submit button at the bottom and it is inout type sumit.
When I type in text input "GO" button appears on the keyboard, but, when typing in textarea it turns to "return" button.
If i change location of inputs so that text input is the last Go button appears as usually. as I fill text are first.
Is it possible to get Go button appear while typing in textarea?
Go to your laptop or desktop and click a textarea. Pressing the enter button does not submit the form.
The answer to your question is therefore simple: a textarea is a multiline input field which requires a return button, leaving no space for the go button. The answer is no. Use a normal input instead.
I have a problem with the flyout generated by the Facebook Send button. After clicking the "Send" button the flyout is generated and displayed behind some elements. Obscuring the buttons in the flyout.
I read that this is because of a parent element with the overflow:hidden style. However, I cannot remove this attribute since it will mess up the rest of my sites layout.
I tried to dynamically remove the overflow:hidden attribute upon clicking the Send button (Accepting the layout mess if someone actually uses the send button). Using the following code:
FB.Event.subscribe("message.send", function(response) { //Remove the
overflow:hidden styling here });
Unfortunately this event only fires upon actually sending the flyout form, which is too late as need to take action as soon as the button is pressed that shows the flyout.
Could anyone tell me how to bind an onclick event to the "Send" button or how to reposition the flyout completely. Or perhaps there is an alternate solution I have not yet considered.
Thanks in advance
Fixed position might work for some, but for most it will mess up your layout.
What worked for me is to take off any overflow: auto higher up in your CSS.
I did that and it works great!
I have a very simple asp.net form.
a text box,
a dropdownlist with autopostback,
a submit button
now if i type in some value into the textbox
and then select an item in the dropdown which causes a page postback.
then click on submit button
the value in the text box does not get saved into the autocomplete data store.
if i do the opposite.
select an item from the dropdown which will cause a page postback.
type in some values in the textbox.
click submit.
the value is saved for the autocomplete.
I think this may have something to do with the page life cycle and the viewstate. but how do i get around this issue? I'm using IE8.
I have tried the AutoCompleteSaveForm command. but it does not work if there's a postback immediately after the execution of it.
Use this for IE:
if($.browser.msie){window.external.AutoCompleteSaveForm(FormName)};
It does not work for Firefox and I'm trying to find the answer for that....
I notice when you go to google.com for example, the input field keyboard has a "submit" button as opposed to the original "return" button.
How do I turn on that feature?
I tried type=search but I still see the return button.
Thanks,
Tee
It actually works.
Need to have the form tag, I initially only had the input field.
