How can we send a follow up email for Wishlist? - email

How can we send a email to the user reminding them that some products are available in their wishlist?
I have seen this functionality on many sites and I wish someone would have Implemented it by now.
There should be a way to Do this program way.
Also There is no way available in magento to see wishlist report,like which item is most available in wishlist or top 5 wishlist products.Is there a way to Implement Both the things

Unfortunately there is no out of the box solution for both of your issues.
There does exist a $14.99 module that will give you more insight on wishlisted items and the relative customers: http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/admin-global-customer-wishlist-viewer.html
As for sending emails to those customers, this type of functionality exists in Magento Enterprise Edition. You have the ability to automatically send emails to customers with wishlisted items - unless you are willing to shell out $15,000 for the enterprise version, you are a bit out of luck here.
You can either utilize a email blast service like MailChimp which integrates directly into magento to send focused email blasts OR do some custom development work.

You can do this with MageMail. (Full disclosure: I'm the founder of MageMail).
In case you're looking to build this custom, you basically just want to pull in the wishlist_item table and join on the customer table to get the customer associated with the wishlist item.
One gotcha to keep in mind is that all of the wishlist items are included in the same wishlist, regardless of when they were added (they're not like quotes in that regard). So if you're building this custom, you'll want to make sure to build it in such a way that it will follow-up based on the date the wishlist item was added and not the date of the wishlist record itself.
I think that Enterprise has support for multiple wishlists but I haven't seen it in use much in the wild.

I think you can do exactly what you need the following way:
1. Segment your customers according to their wishlist records with Market Segmentation Suite extension. You can put users with particular wishlist item into a group or form a customer group of all users with non-empty wishlists. You can then export those segmented lists for future use.
2. Follow up your customers according to segmented lists you made with emails tailored to specific customer groups with Follow Up Email.
As for wishlist reports you can track which products have been added to customers’ wishlists, when the product has been added, how many days this item is in the wishlist with Advanced reports unit named Users Wishlists by aheadWorks.
So, these are 3 different extensions, but they definitely cope with the task you describe.

Creating Paypal custom event registration forms

I have a very specific registration form that I need to build that collects an event attendees information and then sends that info plus payment to a Paypal business account. My client has given me the breakdown of how he wants the form to work and it goes something like this:
Registration Options: A) Single person/participant: cost $150.00 B)
Family group/ 2 or more participants: $300 total for the first two
each additional is $75. C) School group: For every six participants
paid at $150 each the 7th will be free
Select registration package: Number of Participants: Total cost for

This seems like a tough task even with Paypal's button building feature.
Can anyone offer any suggestions on how I might tackle this form? Possibly through a php form that will auto total based on fields filled in by the attendee?
There are a few different ways that you can do this. You could use some JavaScript or PHP to collect the data and perform the calculations. There are a few example of some basic scripts collecting data and performing calculations here that may help, or give you an idea of how you would go about doing this. The examples are free to use as is. There are several others that may help as well, under the basic scripts menu. Some are Java Script, others are in PHP. You can just right click the page and view the code for the JavaScript, and for the ones that are in PHP, there should be a link for the PHP code.

How do I view the invoices for a specific account through a URL in Microsoft Dynamics CRM?

I'm trying to add an iframe into the form for viewing accounts that will display all the invoices that are connected to that account. I've read this MSDN page about accessing specific forms through a URL, which I can achieve, but copying the URL generated into an iframe I have created on my form produces an error message.
I'd like to know whether what I'm trying to accomplish is possible and if so, how I should format the URL so that only the invoices connected to the user account being opened will be displayed. I'll add more details later if I can.
I think what you actually want to do is add a sub-grid. This is different from an iFrame, an iFrame generally contains web resources, or links to pages on the web. A sub-grid specifically exists to show related records - e.g. to show the left hand relationships links on the body of the form.

So Crm can't handle this situation quite so easily with out of the box features. But you do have a couple of options. I dont think any of these are perfect solutions, so I'll let you choose.
A sub-grid effectively just runs some FetchXml, you can change this FetchXml with JavaScript, so you could alter the view to return the records not directly related. Green Bible has an example, though this doesnt look like its supported.
Use a report in an iFrame.
Use a plugin, I havnt done this myself, but a colleague told me it was possible to stick a plugin on the retrieve message and basically change the query or results which is used by the view.
Create a second relationship between the invoice and the account. Then whenever you link an invoice to an account, also populate this new relationship (a workflow will do) with the account, and whenever an invoice linked to a contact is created, populate the new relationship with the parent account of the contact (again a workflow will do). Then just base your sub-grid on this new relationship. This approach isnt the cleanest but its probably the quickest and easiest to implement.

Dynamics CRM 2011 custom code

I'm struggling to find much documentation on Dynamics CRM 2011 and have a problem. I'm not looking for code more a pointer as to the correct method of approach (workflow, dialog, custom HTML web resource etc)
I basically want something that does the following:
Go to Contact list
Select some contacts
Ribbon action opens a box that allows me
to select a custom role from a drop down list (source is a dynamics
entity)
Select a radio box for either add or remove role
Save the changes, this will add or remove a role from the contact and also send an email to that contact
I know how to get a list of selected recordIDs but I am not sure if I should be calling a dialog or a custom HTML page with JS.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
This may not work at all for your scenario but it is worth thinking out of the box sometimes. This would only work if you have a small number of roles and the roles don't change that often.
Add checkboxes on the Contact, one for each role. Build workflows that fire on update of those checkboxes that send your emails. Now users can quickly edit lots of Contact Roles by using the Multi-Edit feature.
The benefit of this approach is it is a "no code" solution and it is very easy for the User since it uses out-of-the-box functionality. The downside is that you need to maintain those checkboxes. But it may be easier than writing a bunch of web resources and javascript!

In the end the solution was to create a Ribbon item that accepted the selected Guids from the contact list.
Then read those in from a web resource (Silverlight) which called into the sdk and created / removed the records accordingly

A personalized email algorithm

I've been delving into a lot of recommendation algorithms lately (collaborative filtering mostly) and I've found quite a lot of answers on recommending an item based on either a specific user or item (which is part of what I want to do, so that works out). I also want to sent out somewhat-personalized emails, meaning given an email with a certain set of products, pick a set of users to send out the email to.
What would be the best way/algorithm to go about doing this?
For this, you simply turn around the usual collaborative filtering process: instead of recommending items to users, you recommend users to items. You are therefore guessing which users will most like a given item.
Just feed in product IDs as "user IDs", and your real user IDs as "item IDs" into a collaborative filtering system like Apache Mahout. It will recommend users ("items") that would be best for any given email ("user").
Of course you still need input data. Perhaps you have collected a past history of which users have rated or bought or viewed products. That is still your input.

How do I show information to users belonging to different groups (web) in modx

I have created a website using modx evolution v1.0.2.
The website that I have developed has 12 different types of users (categorized in groups). Each user will be shown a different price depending on the group to which he belongs.
Till now I have been able to fetch the group name of current logged in user (created a snippet for that), but how can I achieve the above mentioned functionality so that each user should be able to see only the price that I have coded according to his group.
For example:
If a user is associated with the 'ocassional' group then he should be shown the price as , say, 50 bucks
and if a user is associated with the 'regular' group then he should be shown the price as, say, 40 bucks
I can easily do this by coding a single snippet for every product's variant, but there are a lot of variants (more than 100 and growing).
I have created a resource(page) for every product and it's variant. Every variant has a price. It is this price that I want to be shown according to the logged in user group membership.
I hope I am able to explain my query clearly.
Please help me do this functionality.

I'm not really convinced that modx (as much as i love it) is a great solution for e-commerce sites.
However, the best solution might be to use the database to store the prices of variants per user group and retrieve them yourself using a snippet.
