Facebook open graph tutorial not working correctly and not running without chrome - facebook

I was trying the open graph tutorial from Facebook developers site.
http://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph/tutorial/
I copied and pasted the code and changed the app ID with mine. Step 2 worked fine, but from step 4 meta tags are not working. I checked the code several times, app ID and "YOUR_NAMESPACE"is changed correctly. I was developing inside localhost of WAMP server. Did I miss anything? I followed every step from the tutorial.
Secondly 'Add to timeline' or 'login' box isn't showing in any browser except chrome. Inside chrome it works fine, but in firefox or IE it shows only a link to Facebook site. Why is that!
And suggest me some good tutorial on open graph. Please Help!

It probably didn't work as it says the object page in Step 4 has to be publicly accessible. Facebook needs to be able to gather data from that page to present in time line. Your localhost mamp install won't be publicly accessible.
From the tutorial >>
Before being able to publish an Open Graph action for a user and having define its
corresponding connected object type in Step 3, you will now need to create a publicly
accessible web page that represents this object using Open Graph metatags. Once this
object page is created, you can use the Graph API to publish an action.

I have not seen any good tutorials on it besides facebook's. They go in depth into every aspect of it as it is their product. I followed that same tutorial and it works perfectly.
Without your code I cant really help. If you put your meta tags up ill have a look.
Im also not sure if it actually works off the local host.

Facebook Plugin not showing on my desktop or mobile, but appears fine on another desktop

I've been using the Facebook Plugin for years, on dozens of websites, but all of a sudden, I can only see the page's facebook header, the actual feed appears only as a spinning icon. This is on my desktop and mobile device, feed is at the bottom of the page. https://saltydogfestival.com
screenshot_mobile
However, my co-worker in the desk across from me tried it on his desktop and laptop and the feed loads just fine.
I'm not a page admin for this particular feed.
I have this plugin for other facebook pages, for which I AM an Admin, and those don't show up for me, either. I've tried using Chrome and Edge.
I'm knocking my head against the wall with this.... or maybe it's something so simple that I'm not seeing it... Suggestions??? Please save what's left of my sanity!
I think this issue has affected many sites including mine. I used a third party plugin recently that's said to no affect page speed. It's called "Buttonizer - Smart Floating Action Button" you can add a FB messenger button also and add call to action and any they button as well. I have disabled the Facebook chat one for now. If you can update me if it's now work for you that would be great as I'm in the same boat. Email mtgusto#outlook.com
Edited - bug seems resolved
This is what worked for me:
Go to Facebook Developers - Page Plugin and configure the 'widget' with desired params.
As you change the parameters the preview should update & show. If it doesn't, try signing out.
Click "Get Code" beneath the preview. I used the JavaScript SDK method.
Copy & paste the first piece of code after the < body > tag.
Copy & paste the second piece of code where the box should appear.
Previous answer - leaving here for posterity / reference
It seems to be an issue with Facebook that occurs when the visitor is signed in to Facebook. Try viewing the page in a private window or reload after you have signed out of Facebook to see if it loads when you are not signed in.
There's more information on a Facebook Developers bug report, which was just marked as closed 8/26, although it still appears to be happening: https://developers.facebook.com/support/bugs/584988619248795/

Facebook showing page not found when sharing link

I'm sharing content from a website and every time I paste the link into Facebook it says 'page not found'.
Sometimes it works when I manually add the 'www.' in front of the URL in the address bar.
EXAMPLE
Shows page not found:
http://roundreviews.co.uk/reviews/speakers/native-union-monocle-speaker/
Works when you manually place www. in front:
www.roundreviews.co.uk/reviews/speakers/native-union-monocle-speaker/
I honestly have no I idea why it's doing this, any thoughts on how it can be fixed on the web side?
Also...
I have tried with the link below with both the www. and without yet it doesn't work with either of them, this is all very strange. This is the only link I have tried and it doesn't work with both:
www.roundreviews.co.uk/microphones/spark-digital-microphone/
Any help is much appreciated, thanks.
For me what it worked was to access the Facebook Debugger, as Goose said.
I saw that the scrape was about 12 hours ago, looks like it fetches the first time and saves it as caché or whatsoever...
What it worked for me is to debug the url, then click "fetch new scrape information" after the previous information has been shown.
Hope it works!
For those running across this today, you might find that you also need to verify your domain and link it to your page.
To do this you need to
Set up a Facebook Business Account
Add your page to the business account
Verify your domain (using DNS TXT or adding a page facebook gives you)
Under domains, connect your page as an asset of that domain

Facebook comment plugin doesn't work at all

I inserted the facebook code where required and absolutely nothing happens or shows up. Using dreamweaver cs6 and in live view or when testing in ANY browser, nothing shows up. It's a blank box. ANy thoughts? I read somewhere that the website must be made into an application of facebook? Is this something?
Specifically, after activating the plugin and properly connecting the plugin to the facebook app, which does work and has been used extensively before hand, comments simply fail to load. There is no comment box, no past comments pull in either (note the app has historical comments already).
In the plugin settings area on the right side of the screen where the comments check box exists, there is a read more link that takes you to the facebook developers page where it discusses adding the facebook comments iframe.
If there is some other location where comment settings might also exist (past the three fields that require the 2 keys and the app name) I could not find them and this was not referenced in the plugin setup.

Why does Object debugger say my URL is a facebook URL and isn't "scrapable"

In trying to create an "object" page for my first facebook app, I've run into some difficulty. I followed Facebook's Open Graph Tutorial nearly exactly.
After creating an "object" html page with the appropriate <meta property="og:... tags I tried running the URL through the Debugger Tool as suggested in the tutorial but I'm given the following error:
"Facebook URLs aren't scrapable by this Debugger. Try your own."
This page is in the same directory on my company's linux box as the canvas page, and is certainly not a "Facebook URL". If it matters, I'm using an IP instead of a domain name: xx.x.x.xxx/app/obj.html
...
I continued the tutorial anyway, but ultimately it does not seem to want to post a new action/object (is this even right?). I did however manage to get something to work, as in the app timeline view I apparently actioned one of those objects a couple hours ago. I assume this happened when I was pasting curl POST commands into the terminal.
I'm pretty new to the whole open graph, and facebook APIs, etc., so I'm probably operating under false assumptions of some sort, and I've been all over trying different things, but this error seems pretty bizarre to me and I can't seem to resolve it.
UPDATE
I just took the object page and put it on my own personal shared hosting acct. The debugger worked (inexplicably) fine on it, but I couldn't go too far since it's a different domain than the one authorized by my app.
Make sure og:url inside your html page does not point to facebook.
Also, make sure to look at the open graph protocol page (to see you formatted the og tags correctly.
Also, make sure the page is accessible to everyone, not just yourself.
Without knowing the URL it's hard to be sure, but it's most likely that your URL is either including a og:url tag pointing to a facebook.com address, or a HTTP 301/302 redirect to Facebook instead

redirect on facebook app install

Upon install of my app on a Facebook Page, I'd like to send the user to an URL with further instructions. I'm starting the installation with http://facebook.com/add.php?api_key=app_api_key&page=page_id, which installs but redirects the user to the Facebook Page itself. It seems like various forms of redirect were available at some point:
Post-authorize callback URL. I can no longer find that in App settings.
The next parameter for add.php. I can't seem to get this to work
I have seen some apps that do redirect upon install, so I believe this is possible. Maybe it's using an old Post-authorize setting that's no longer visible?
Any help or point would be greatly appreciated! I'm also not attached to using add.php, if there's a Facebook Connect method that does this I'd use that instead (I'm looking at profile.addtab though that doesn't seem to work either).
You can set the redirect URL in the app properties. You can no longer set it from the developer control panel in Facebook, but you can still set it using the REST api.
The list of app properties is here: http://developers.facebook.com/docs/appproperties/
To set the "post_authorize_redirect_url" you would use something like this:
https://api.facebook.com/method/admin.setAppProperties?
access_token=CURRENTTOKEN&
properties={'post_authorize_redirect_url':'http://mydomain.com/post_authorize_folder/'}
I am not completely clear on this, but I believe the url needs to point to a folder, terminated with "/" rather than a specific file.
The callback gets two parameters:
installed = 1 (true)
fb_page_id = the page id when your app was installed
First page that Canvas is point to should have
< script type='text/javascript'>top.location.href = 'REDIRECT-URL';< /script>
So when your app is opened it will automaticaly redirect to REDIRECT-URL
I'm not sure that you can avoid opening of application canvas page after installing application.
