Facebook supports getting the number of comments on each url by using the following:

The problem with this method is that it's working on the user-side and thus the result cannot be stored into SQL.
I'm looking for a method which can run server-side, able to be executed by CRON.
This can be easily achieved with simple FQL query:
SELECT commentsbox_count FROM link_stat WHERE url = "http://example-url.com"
To get this with Graph API use:
http://graph.facebook.com/fql?q=YOUR_QUERY
You would need to use the Graph API for this. You can access a JSON-encoded array of a URLs comments by going to, https://graph.facebook.com/comments/?ids={YOUR_URL}.
If you were using PHP, you could use file_get_contents() to fetch this URL, decode the JSON array and then use count() to get the number of comments. I don't believe that the comments end point is secured by OAuth so you shouldn't need to worry about that.

The problem is that after v2.1 of graph api fql will be deprecated.
Can someone tell me how to get separate likes, share count for given url using only graph api? I was looking for some documentation, but there isn't any, i can get only total "shares" which is likes + shares + comments.

The REST API (with calls like http://api.facebook.com/restserver.php?method=links.getStats&urls) was announced as deprecated with the introduction of the Graph API v2.1: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/apps/changelog#v2_1_deprecations but also already in 2011: https://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/616/

The closest you can get to the "old" REST of FQL API call results with the Graph API is this afaik:

but it omits the like_count metric (don't ask me why...).
My personal opinion is that you should continue to use the FQL calls to the link_stat (https://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/fql/link_stat/) table, because this will be available for nearly the next 2 years. This is only possible if you have a v2.0 app. Maybe there'll be some additional endpoints for the Graph API until then.

I am the author of the social media plugin MashShare and i recently had to do exact observations for this issue as it seriously affected the share count of our plugin.
Verified data by observations:
https://graph.facebook.com/v2.7/?id=https://www.mashshare.net contains shares and likes.
As far as i found out the only way to get a number near the real share count of a post is to get first the likes of a url. Than take this number and subtract it from the total number of shares and likes.
To get the like count you need to take the object id of the url and create another API request:
https://graph.facebook.com/v2.7/14206851986099/likes?summary=true
If you know how to merge both requests into one please let me know.
As of August 19th 2016 facebook completely shutdown their rest API.
The only alternative is to use the graph API as suggested above.
I want to export the data of my Facebook group to some sort of file for historical purposes. I understand how to use the API but I don't know what I need to do to work with it. I can make queries in the explorer but it takes way to long for it to execute. I want to know what I need to do to export the data from my group into say a text file. Even just the basic steps in order to use the API would help. Thanks
You'll need to use one of the Facebook SDK's in order to programmatically access the Facebook API. Some popular ones are the JavaScript and PHP SDK's. The docs for each contain how to make API calls, and then you can use your code to handle the response to do whatever you want with them (as long as you stay within Facebook's policies).
An example of an API call in Facebook would be (after loading the SDK and having a valid login):

You have to get the feeds of the group first using graph api. Here is the code for that.

I have 16,000 URLs. each is a Facebook open graph object. I need to get the open graph data for each of the 16k URLs.
The way I'm thinking about doing this is first finding the open graph object ID of each URL, and then in a nightly cron job, I would do a graph.facebook.com batch request for the details of each object.
However the first step I am unsure of how to do. How do I get all the Object IDs of 16,000 URLs? (all at once). perhaps FQL?

Is there a simple, reliable and potentially future-proof way to extract a graph ID from the API given any facebook URL? By "any facebook URL" I mean the URL for a personal profile, page, group, etc. All these things have various formats so I imagine there must be something in the graph API to definitively convert a facebook URL into an ID, right?
No, there isn't a way to do this simply within the API. You will need a set of pattern matching to match the various types of urls to extract either the id (album,note,photo,status) or username.

Then it gets further complicated that even if you were able to get a silver bullet function that handles all these links your app would need to grant access to numerous permissions in order to access certain objects.
You may be able to get away with most links that have the id at the end but not all. So you can maybe use a regular expression catching links that end in numeric characters.

I've tried to fetch results using Graph search API and I've notice that the results when executed in my computer (Argentina) are different from the results when I run it in a server (France).
Is this like this? How can I force a location for a search?

I don't know exactly which results are different and which skd version you are using, but one possible approach is to send the accept-language header with the cURL request. In the facebook api php file add the following line in the function makeRequest() below $opts = self::$CURL_OPTS;
