My XCode 4.2 does not detect iPhone with iOS 5.1.
I have MAC OS X 10.6.7 installed, with XCode 4.2 and iPhone with 5.1
If I build app for iOS 5.0 it works, but not 5.1.
I want to submit my app to appstore today, will it be accepted?
And How do I run app on 5.1 devices?
Please help
Following are my device config:
Developer Information:

According to the developer center Xcode 4.3.1 supports iOS 5.1. The last release of Xcode for OS 10.6 is Xcode 4.2 which supports iOS 5 (this is the release you have).
You need to upgrade to Mac OS 10.7 and Xcode 4.3 to get support for iOS 5.1. You can continue to use the 5.0 SDK and build against that as long as you don’t need features in iOS 5.1.
I assume that your phone will continue to not be recognized by Xcode until you upgrade your SDK/Xcode to 5.1.
You have to install latest iOS version (5.1) to your xcode to detect your ios5.1 devices. But it does not included in xcode4.2 installer, so you have to upgrade your OS to 10.7.
There is a way to install iOS sdk 5.1 to your xcode 4.2 running on Mac OS X 10.6.x.
First, you have to download latest xcode installer here (mine is xcode_4.3.1_for_lion.dmg, you may have to login to download)
Open terminal (Application->Utilities->Termial) and type these commands:
sudo cp -R /Volumes/Xcode/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneOS5.1.sdk /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/Developer/SDKs/
sudo cp -R /Volumes/Xcode/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator5.1.sdk /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/
sudo cp -R /Volumes/Xcode/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/5.1\ \(9B176\) /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/
sudo rm -f /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/Latest
cd /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/
sudo ln -s ./5.1\ \(9B176\) ./Latest
Restart you xcode and now it works.
There is a hack the I confirmed working. For further reading check IOS 5.1 on XCode 4.2 Snow Leopard
If you upgraded your iPhone/iPad to 5.1 but do not want to upgrade your XCode and Mac OS. Here is a work around for you to be able to still install your app to your testing device:
Sign up to testflightapp.com, upload your app to testflightapp.com and then download it to your device over the air.
By this, you can postpone upgrading to Mac OS 10.7 and Xcode 4.3 for a while. You will not be able to debug/put break points on your app while testing on the device though.
This thing worked for me
First I ran the project in xcode 3.2.5 and the project ran on iOS 5.1!!!!
*Later i disconnected the device and again ran the project on xcode 4.2* on snow leopard and it started working with out nay problem.Dont know how this worked
I was having snow leopard and old xcode 3.2.5
The above suggestion by prajul does work. Just connect the 5.1 device and authenticate xcode 3.2.5 to collect the details. Then once it starts collecting your xcode4.2 will be able to run the device that has os version 5.1. I got it worked in ipad with ios 5.1.1.
These steps might only be helpful to people with access to XCode4.2 and XCode 4.3 both.
Was easy for us, as we have iMac with XCode 4.3 and a MBP with SnowLeopard - XCode 4.2
XCode 4.3, Sync provisioning profiles from Organizer-Add Device to Provisioning Portal
XCode 4.3, run the application on the device
Unplug the device with iOS 5.1 and connect to XCode 4.2

I upgrade my iPhone OS 5 to OS 5.1.1, now my Xcode 4.2 can't identify the device (Mac OS is Lion 10.7.2).
How to overcome this issue? I need any Xcode updation (Xcode 4.2 to Xcode 4.3)?
Xcode 4.2 do not have any support for iOS devices with version >= 5.1
Download the latest version of Xcode to dubug on device with iOS 5.1.1
The Xcode is distributed as an app in AppStore. You can download the latest version of Xcode from here.

I updated my iPhone to iOS 5.1.
My operating system is Snow Leopard.
Now I need the sdk 5.1 to develop, with xcode 4.2.
Where can I download it?
Any suggest?
Solution:
Downgrade to ios5.0 or update to Lion
To get Xcode 4.2 on Snow Leopard to run code on a device running 5.1 you can do this:
If you have another Mac running Lion + XCode 4.3.1 you can copy the files from:
/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/5.1 (9B176)
to the equivalent place on your SL Mac: probably
/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport
and also copy version.plist from the Lion machine in the iPhoneOS.platform folder to the SL machine.
Re-start XCode on the SL machine and re-connect the devices and it seems happy enough.
[Edit: If you don't have access to a machine with Lion+4.3.1 you can get the files out of the 4.3.1 DMG which can be downloaded from Apple here: http://adcdownload.apple.com/Developer_Tools/xcode_4.3.1_for_lion/xcode_4.3.1_for_lion.dmg
then mount the DMG, Show Package Contents on the XCode icon and drill down to
/Volumes/Xcode/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport to
find the files mentioned above.]
In steps:
Stop XCode on SL machine
Disconnect your iphone
Mount the Xcode 4.3.1 image (.dmg that you can download from Apple dev site)
Show package contentes of the Xcode 4.3.1
copy XCode/Xcode/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/5.1 (9B176)
to <HD>/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport
copy XCode/Xcode/Contents/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/DeviceSupport/version.plist
to <HD>/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneOS.platform/
Start Xcode
connect your iphone and it should work.
You can't.
You need to update to Mac OS 10.7 Lion in order to get the latest version of Xcode with the 5.1 SDK.
The last installable version of Xcode on Snow Leopard will be 4.2. Apple really wants developers to keep up to date on everything, whether MacOS or iOS.
If you want to stay on Snow Leopard, download the iOS 5.0.1 firmware of your device on this link : http://www.iphonefirmware.com/firmwares-download.
And do a manual restore on iTunes.
I did it today (March 8, 2012) on my iPad 2 and it works, Apple still seems to sign this iOS version.I guess not for a long time, so do it quickly.
iOS 5.1 is only avalaible in xCode 4.3.1, and its only avalaible in Lion, sorry.
YOu can try changing the version of your mac and faking it to install 4.3.1, but I cannot assure you its going to work...
I've been developing an app, which is ready to be sent to verification at Apple.
I've been beta testing 5.1, so both my Xcode and iPhone is configured with SDK 5.1 and so is my app.
Apple do not accept apps with 5.1 right now, so is there an easy way to downgrade the SDK to 5.0? I've tried editing the value of "Base SDK" but only 5.1 shows up.
Unfortunately you'll have uninstall Xcode and iOS SDK an reinstall 5.0 downloaded from apple.
you can use this command:
sudo /Developer/Library/uninstall-devtools –mode=all
You can just download and install XCode 4.2 with iOS 5.0 separately in a different location on your mac as well.
I trying to test my iPhone app on real iPhone device having ios 5.0 restored recently.
Now when i connect iPhone to mac in xcode's organizer it is showing orange dot in front of device. Let me tell you that i m using xcode 3.2.6 with ios sdk 4.3 installed on Mac .
this is message i m getting in organizer.
The version of iOS on “Apple’s iPhone” does not match any of the versions of iOS supported for development with this installation of the iOS SDK. Please restore the device to a version of the OS listed below, or update to the latest version of the iOS SDK; which is available here.

here u can check that both os installed on iPhone and Xcode Supported ios versions are same.
so i searched a lot for this and i got only one answer that reboot device as well as machine i tried both but both didn't work for me.
what can be the exact solution for this?
I think it is glitch from Apple. I had 3.2.6 and xCode 4 but then 3.2.6 I installed manually 5.0 (9A334) on the SDK Platform SDK. It will show yellow mark that does not recognizes the device.
Here is What I did
Launch 3.2.6 then go to the organizer. If you see the yellow mark on your iOS 5 device then open Xcode 4 and go to the organizer. From the Xcode 4 you will see the green mark. Now close Xcode 4 and Xcode 3 completely using Command + q button. Re-Launch the Xcode 3.2.6. It now changes to Green mark instead. Hope it fixes your problem.
I recently upgraded my new iPod from iPhone OS 3.1.3 to iPhone OS 4.0 (8A293). However wen attached with xcode organizer i get following error.

I tried to downgrade IOS to 4.0 (8A274b) however wen installation is complete it says OS expired error msg and just shows connecting itunes icon.
Can anyone please help.
Thanks
It sounds like you have one of the developer betas of Xcode installed. The 8A274b build was for the beta right before the gold master was released. Just download the latest SDK and install it over your current install.
